Only 2 Dagestani champs ever, not invading the sport, they are one dimensional and cant even win like that most of the time. And when he is talking about older Russian athletes he is talking about a nation which did and still does pump everyone of their athletes full of drugs. P.S. DC is a a great fighter but one of the most annoying wankers alive.
Humble ? He’s still complaining about Jon Jones trying to find someone that can beat JJ. I’ve listened to this whole podcast and the amount of times he talking about Jon jones is unreal lol.
Daniel has real charisma. The other guys doing broadcast really can't compare to his charisma. Which then begs the question, why do they have other guys on camera who can't match DC's energy? The UFC needs to experiment more, and try new broadcast people, because they are only a 7 out of 10 right now.
I had ex Soviet coaches back in the early 2000s (fancy primary school) and can confirm they'd have us do gymnastics and other calisthenics for ages before even wrestling.
Not that guy, but we did gymnastics as a warmup, to get all the mucles going, joints flexed and stuff, so you eliminate some possibility of injury from training. doesnt matter what exercises exactly, but work on joints and some muscles/tendons you feel might need some imrpovements in flexibility or feel stiff at a time :) @@mike287slashm7
There's a really good ice skating movie with the guy DB Sweeney. His two best movies are Fire in the Sky (the best alien movie) and a movie where he has to train with a woman doing ice skating in Russia because he can't play hockey anymore.
@@mike287slashm7You only need the principle. Soviet principle is they never let you touch the barbell before you master your dead lift with a stick. They emphasize a lot on technique. Master the foundation my friend. All kind push up then Bench Press, Handstand pushup then military press. Pistol squat then Squat.
It is nice to hear DC talk about someone with that much respect and admiration. You know he must be good... And Khabib is just a class act the way he took care of those kids.
@ivan4087 don't think he will agree with you that it's bad for him and don't think your opinion matters just say you hate Islam and the fact that Khabib most famous russian athlete is a devout muslim
I love that DC mentioned bouvasair saitiev, the greatest freestyle wrestler of all time, he was truly amazing to watch in his day as he had a never ending supply of offense, such a smart and tactical wrestler who went against the stereotypical build of being short and stocky, he was a string bean
@@kenwood2682 very hard to argue, guy went up a weight and crushed it being tiny compared to monsters like romero, i honestly dont know, i studied both for countless hours, they were both extremely tough
As accomplished as Saitievs are, a prime Denis Tsargush would have beaten both. A 19 year old Tsargush almost beat Buvaisar at the '07 Russian nationals and he beat Adam convincingly many times. Both Satievs also lost in their primes to folkstyle wrestlers who didn't have much freestyle experience like Brandon Slay and Sanderson.
@@chrislaverick6413 Countless? Adam won at worlds twice and Olympics once. His medal count is the same as Tsargush plus whenever they faced each other Tsargush dominated him. Adam is overrated because of his brother.
Imagine living in a place with no woman in the street and that if you play any kind of sports the government gives you testosterone with the school milk, you to would fight for your booty, that or embrace the jacuzzy.
@@jesusask8 i mean i think so too but you cant deny the work they put in. Id bet my left nut these guys are on more drugs than a seattle methhead but you have to at least acknowledge the culture aspect. Mfs literally LIVE to fight. Basically all they do is train and theyve been doing it since they were literal toddlers lol. Drugs or not, what theyre doing is impressive as hell
If you watch Khabibs old school footage and the way him and his father/coach Abdulmanap explain their training programs for the youth wrestlers in Dagestan it’s the equivalent of a full time manual labor job.
DC is the man ! To have 22 wins throughout his career & only lose to two ppl ever is incredible. Joke about his physique or whatever but DC is fkn legit !
@@ericm4426 Okay but that has nothing to do with him not being some charismatic character. Also his humor is dry as shit. I’m not saying that the Dagestanis aren’t great fighters I’m just saying they have boring personalities and it is simply their fighting skills that sells fights nothing else
Sending those kids to Dagestan was the best thing for them, even for the ones that will eventually stop wrestling. It opens their eyes as to how priviledged they are and how hard some people will work to be able to live like them. Suddenly the complaining about minor inconvenienses will stop. And Khabib is for sure one of them realest dudes fo fascilitating all that.
DC isn't just one of the greats on the mat and in the cage, he's a friggen good guy across the board... You rarely hear fights, especially regarding losses, heap praise on their past loss oponents like DC... Him talking about dealing with Jon Jones was some seriously cool insight... No love lost between the two of them but he came right out disecting his fights with JJ and how insanely skilled he is...
A lot of young fans didn't see This guy compete, DC was a hell of a wrestler and one of the highest IQ fighters in strikeforce and UFC, so his word is gold
"I got one. Think that was the only one I got that month." DC is the most humble guy. 2nd best LHW of all time and top 10 HW all time. But humble as they come.
Since we're talking hypotheticals already, imagine if Jon Jones was brought up exactly how Gatsolov was. If he trained like those guys when they grew up and he never got into any of the bad stuff. That would be a different level of monster 😵😵😵
exactly. And even if Gastolov would join UFC, he wouldn't even make it to Jon Jones. DC just wants to believe that someone he knows personally can beat his biggest rival Jon Jones. its ridiculous
@@user-fy5wf1zh8k there's a little bit of that, but I think he's telling the truth when he says that he knew these Dagestan guys were going to be unreal. The difference is, their teenagers spend the same amount of time training as our teenagers do on their phones. Gatsolov might have been a world beater- but Jon Jones already is one, with a small percentage of the training those guys did.
@@user-fy5wf1zh8k He's not wrong, give Gatsalov just 2 or 3 years of striking training and he would annihilate Jon Jones. Jones is an unbelievable talent but he doesn't have the discipline, these Dagestani's would eat him for breakfast.
The best part of ALL of this. The dude straight gives up on the captioning after about 40 seconds. Then after like 4 minutes, starts again. The quality control in the editing process for this channel is NEXT LEVEL!!
I know they're talking about fighters from Dagestan, Russia and how good their wrestling is but it shouldn't be a surprise. Russia is the country that produced Alexander Karelin. I have never seen a more intimidating and dominant wrestler like that man. Karelin was a fine specimen who was the closest thing to super human imo.
In Cael's defense, if I remember right, that was the Worlds right after college. He was winning most the match but after a rally by Gatsalov, he lost in sudden death OT. As far as I'm concerned, Sanderson is the GOAT. Freestyle is a different game and he transitioned to beat the best of the best. Sanderson (and Gatsalov) went on to Olympic gold in '04.
@@kyle88ssYou gotta see it as DC saying how good Gatsalov and not how much better than Cael he is. And since DC knows him more personally while training together, thats the reason why he brought his name up and explaining how good he is. Both Cael and Gatsalov are goated for sure💯
Cael is the Greatest to ever lace them up till now. This next generation going to be something crazy. I watched it happen in Florida, Florida was not a wrestling State years ago and the talent level in the past 10 years been crazy. Probably top seven toughest states to wrestle. Pennsylvania and New Jersey still a good ways better, but man we have gotten good. Now seeing these HS kids hang and beat National Champs is crazy. One other thing I find crazy is all the parents holding their children back a year before HS for their wrestling careers. My boys became best in the state starting as Freshman. They took beatings because they were wrestling kids with 10 years experience and held back. Allot of only ifs because they were the best in the state their final year, but if they started age 5 and 6 they could of taken so much further. It becomes a way of life. Crazy, crazy sport. Oh, it takes no prisoners, oldest comes into Senior season as top 3 in the state and stretches a nerve and loses all strength on right side of his body. Was scary because not sure it come back. Youngest beats the number 2 right before Regionals but injures his chest and misses states. It was so tough, all that work and had a great story of only wrestling for 3 years and never playing any sports to being too 3 in the state. Would of been tough to win since Kendrick Hodge, top 20 in the country he would of seen in the finals last year.
@@kyle88ssthat’s a bad take. Its the same excuse people were making for Usman vs Leon. “Oh he was winning most of the fight” lol. Cael lost fair and square and that’s it
Just to clarify Gatsalov is Ossetian (a republic in Russia close to Dagestan), whilst it is true that a lot of wrestlers come from Dagestan, there are a lot of places in Caucasus that also produce wrestlers, including Chechnya. Georgia is also considered part of Caucasus. Artur Taymazov is also Ossetian for ex. It's easier to just call it the Caucasus region
There are 2 types of sambo in Russia. One just for wrestling basically and second is fighting sambo which they are talking about also used by their “swat” and “seals”
its called combat sambo when you inflict as much damage as you can on your opponent,i mean eye gauging, cheek ripping ,balls squeezing and stuff like that you wouldnt allow that in the competition, its used only in the streets or war.
combat sambo. Im Nicaragua special forces, ive been to Russia and trained with spetsnaz, did courses with them. they also come here to train certain phases of our special forces. friday and saturday was fight days, we would have matches against our combat buddy and against anyone, maybe 15 or 30. Im pretty good with it but i remember a lot of times when i tried to take down one of these russian guys and it was like hitting a brick wall. you just have to accept the mauling youre about to receive.
Sport Sambo is more like Judo than wrestling (I have some medals, so have an idea of what it is and isn't) and most of the highest level guys are Judo players too. Combat Sambo is pretty sporty in some regards, it's not as similar to MMA as ppl think, and scoring points with grappling is still the primary way most ppl win. Military/Combatives Sambo is another thing entirely, but the military is known to hold competitions similar to Combat Sambo such as Armeyskiy Rukopashniy Boy
@@thatindiandude4602they are easily a top 10 judo nation, maybe top 5.....it's hard to say because international judo has an incredibly deep talent pool.
@elbb6623 Russian. And Croatians I added because of their history in the sport and overall. What are you being salty about? Dagestan is in Russia you plonker
@@elbb6623who r u trying to fool😂😂.. we got Google nowadays... Dagestan is part of Russia, Dagestanis holding Russian passports r Russian citizens... So they r Russians by definition.
Not really. I mean, seems like y'all think that Russia is that unforgiving wasteland where everybody just survives on a daily basis. You could say that was the case in the 90s, but now it's a normal country with normal stuff.
@nettlecarrier8259 It's far from a normal country, it's a country on the decline economically and is being further isolated everyday bc a senseless war that's killing all their young men. It's ran by a murderous dictator who doesn't give af about the people and literally has his political opponents murdered. These are the facts
Same for boxers and kickboxers, it’s fairly difficult to round out your game enough to just stay at the best range against elite fighters to utilize your primary skill, let alone become a well-rounded threat.
Did they personally tell you that? Lol They have no reason to compete in MMA, it isn't super high paying either. The ones who actually went to MMA became world champions easily, DC 2 division champ Cejudo 2 division champ Brock wasn't even Olympic level but he managed to win the title and defended it lol
same goes to American athletes, in fact Americans are the most suspicious athletes knowing that they have the much better technologies to cover their asses from getting caught
Think about it, growing up in difficult and harsh environments with limited job or career opportunity to break through SES economic barriers, with access to top notch training from early childhood with a singular focus of becoming the best at the sport/discipline, refined through years of multiple daily training sessions. These guys didn’t become so dedicated and good because they wanted to, it was because they had to in order to have an opportunity to make something of themselves and get better. Things like school or career or “doing what you want to be happy” are not readily available options.
Well actually Russia has more job opportunities than Europe just limited career opportunities, however that’s likely to change with the mass minerals in the north artic
don't forget the way these guys raised: discipline, humility, respect, dedication, family values. It's like a social minimum there. To live a "celebrity lifestyle" would be a sort of a shame for them. Once they become the best, they either wrap it up and go for a social activity or train even harder to become even better.
Their life is fighting it’s like teaching kids how to be good at something and making them do it 24/7 growing up of course they will be good at their craft. The Dagestan formula is hard work and discipline, also they’re super competitive and have an iron will. Pretty much sharks, reminds me of how talented black peoples are at sports in general and the Russians are talented in terms of fighting
already showing you’re mentally weak, steroids don’t teach skills and technique 😂 these guys are just training to get out of the gutter and provide for their families no need for the hate
You see all these guys in mma, boxing who struggle to be ferocious and you see DC who normally would have put to sleep most of them and he is so genuinely easy going and normal person.
