Very informative looking forward to the next part because I have an ESU tester. I have a question that is related to DCC I am wiring up DS 64's using Cat 5 cable is there a connector I can use to join the switch motor wires to the Cat 5 wires running to the DS 64. I am using Kato coil turn outs?
Will, iI wish I could help but I have never even seen one of those Kato devices. Do they have any kind of screw or clip type terminals on them or is it just a bare wire setup? If bare wires you could use a screw terminal strip and attach the Kato wires to the screw terminals then attach the DS64 Cat5 wires to the paired screw terminal. You should be able to find screw terminal strips at AllElectronice.com and other electrical supply houses. Cat5 is a great way to wire these kinds of things up as I showed in my video on control panels.
Hi Larry. I need some help i have an Fleischmann N scale ICE T train. Purchased on 2002 with Decoder 69 6846 some years it worked ok. But at some moment it begun to work erraticly. Forward or rear and stop little distances 10 to 20 cm. I ready replace brushes cleaned all contacts so I'm sure energy constant to the loco and decoder. I can read and change loco number using my MRC control. So i need some help or suggestions.
Try a factory reset, that often works bur you will have to completely reprogram it. Also if you have not already, give the wheels a good going over with a cotton swab soaked in alcohol. I recently had a Bachmann loco that behaved like this and ended up having to pull the motor and use a strong electrical contact cleaner called CRC QD Contact Cleaner aerosol. I sprayed it directly into the opening next to the motor commutators and it came out the other side black with contaminants. It now runs great. I suspect the previous owner got oil in the motor and sold the loco cheap on eBay because it ran so poorly. Good luck.
I have a CXS gp38-2 Backman that I want to put a ez 8 pin decoder no speaker just digital decoder im just geting in to the dcc my gp38-2 is dcc ready but I've ben looking on youtube for so long to find how and what to put in my engine i was hoping you can show me wich one I need im only 11 years old and I have only be doing dcc for 4 days now do ya think you can sen a note back to me thx
I am not familiar with that model, what kind of DCC socket does it have inside? I looked on their website but could not find a DCC Ready spec sheet for that loco so don’t know what they are set for. If it is an 8 pin socket then just get a decoder with the 8 pin plug and make sure to get the orientation right, pin 1 is usually marked o the circuit board with a white dot or arrow.
