Korporal I like how Don W says his opinion on the level of these groups and everyone has to make fun on him when his comment had nothing to do with what you guys are making fun of him for. I love that.
@@EmoPandaGaming calling out how much shit theses guys talk to the performers just because it's not how they want it. He said what he wanted, we said what we wanted. I kind of see what you're saying, but at the same time, no one appreciates those people on comments sections who say things like "dirt" on Cavs videos just because it's not Vanguard. DCI (specifically drumline) has an extremely toxic community for something that requires so much passion from the performers
Sadly it won’t as 3 of the top 12 aren’t even going to indy. Maybe that will help phantom place higher this year hopefully, they’ve been gradually dropping further and further down the list for what feels like almost an entire decade
i made a promise to myself when i was younger that i would march one of these top 12 drum lines, and now it’s time for me to actually do it. in the 2021 season i plan to march one indoor group and one top 12 drumline. i will be back in one year to let everyone know if i made it or not
No matter what older drum corps fans dismissing modern drum corps, we all have to agree this decade was the best one for drum lines. You just can’t compete
Go back and look at Muchachos, Bridgemen, ol Skool BD and Clara.....you might want to think twice about that statement!!!..lines today are more mechanical.....Not as soulful!!!
@@WTurner859 i dont see it as them having to be taken seriously, theyre supposed to entertain and if the costumes add to the theme, the shoe fits. thats just my take tho, think what you want
As an older band and Corp member (late 70s early 80s) I enjoy any and all performances. Back in my day, we aged out at 18/19 yrs old. Is that still the case? If so, I’m glad to see these kids having fun appreciating the discipline and comradery only corps can bring.
infinite sky that’s so true lol. Blue knights is very laid back and chill while Boston is all in your face just melting your face off. It’s honestly fun listening to both tho lol
pmillergroove1 Best lot crowd we’ve encountered, even to the point that we had RU-vid comments on the original claiming the reactions were edited in 😂😂😂
I was in the matrix for half an hour while watching this. A lot of these lines I just watched for the first time. So many good things happened this Summer.
I'm sure the 2021 season will one in the books. But I'll learn from the best and audition for as many corps as possible. I will make a name for myself and become apart of one of these top 12 groups. DCI 2021 I'm coming for you, better be ready.
Whenever I play something fast my jaw moves unintentionally. My friend pointed it out to me and wouldnt stop laugh because I kept doing it when I got to certain part in the music. I couldnt help it lol
The tech at 7:06 in the Mandarin drum corp, did he march for a Corp a while back? He looks super familiar, and I don’t believe I saw him teching there before.
@Wyatt Jones I don’t know that they’re trash, but they’re definitely odd in a bad way. From the overly dry tenors to the wet-sounding snares and muffled basses, they just sound weird compared to the other brands. The tenors, in particular, remind me of the old Premier free-floating models that came out in the mid-90s, which looked awesome but didn’t project at all other than a vague and muddy metallic sound.
Damnit. video and audio are out of sync. only like a qtr of a second. if that. However when you're watching drumlines it might as well be a whole minute. Irritating (no offense). But maybe it's just my phone. Anyone else notice it's out of sync?
I got burned out marching DCI / WGI and then teaching after I aged out in the late 90s that I didn't follow it until covid. just now getting into the stuff that happened before that and really appreciate this compilation. great editing too.
I know they didn’t do that “well” but Phantoms writing is still my favorite. Surprised by the Mandarins and Boston had some serious Huevos Rancheros! BD, well it’s BD. Bluecoats were a snooze fest for once. Crossmen get the the Shut Up and Dance award! JMHO.
I'm a BD guy. And all 12 lines did well. But for some reason, Phantom, Cadets, Blue Knights, Carolina, SCV, and BD (overly technical as usual) were amongst the group that stood out very well. Cavys performance was very short so I can't say. After 2nd review based on the size of each clip, it probably would be SCV [1A] (Best tenors hands down & overall as a line very clean), Carolina [1B], BD [3rd] (has the best-tuned basses).
For sure! We have a decent amount of Open Class content up from 2019 DCA/DCI. The issue is that we ended up losing multiple TB of data between Prelims and Semi-Finals because of faulty hard drives purchased just before, resulting in losing a ton of battery/hornline/front footage from mostly open and some world (was one of our only opportunities to film open class). Otherwise this upload would've been a Top 35 drum features video! And thank you for the kind words! Hopefully in 2021 we'll get out and be able to capture as much open as we have world throughout the season.
@@brianlandryjr.3575 Fortunately we do have a Stars battery lot from semis (switched drives later in the day): ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-v9B4ERmt6IM.html
Best snare tuning would have to be BD. I hear a lot of bad things about the system blue drums, and I really wouldn't know- I'm just an inexperienced highschooler. They be sounding pretty dope most of the time though. I will admit, the tenors this year weren't the best- (shit ain't been right since Miles has left.) Then again, that's just personal opinion, I already know I wouldn't survive a day in the DCI world. So imma try to strive for my best and hopefully I make it somewhere. I'll let you guys know how it goes.
I respect your opinion. Personally for me, BD had the worst tuning in the whole top 12 cus it was so wet compared to the rest and really covered the dirt. I’m sure I can’t be alone here, I love a crisp sounding snare line and BD’s wasn’t it. Good luck with your goals man!
@@jeremygalsim2484 Yamaha, pearl, and dynasty will always have a superior sound to me but that doesn’t mean i can enjoy some MEATY system blue phatbois on occasion
Blue Regiment Bluemen Blue Mandarins Blue Cadets Blue Stars Blue Knights Blue Crusaders Blue Cavaliers Blue Crown Blue Clara Vanguard Bluecoats Blue Devils
I know I'm old school but I remember the days when the emphasis was on the playing and not dancing around so much, military bearing was impressive, straight lines, now it seems they are asking the drummers not only to drum but to dance around which I find totally distracting. They can play, let them drum and maintain composure and leave the dance moves for the theater.
What’s up with all the circus costumes ? Instructors are a bunch of clowns for making the players wear that. Extremely talented lines but can’t take them seriously with the Halloween disguises Could’ve been 10/10 badass so close smh. And no I don’t have that old school mentality I’m barely 20
