All you're doing is putting a bunch of extra batteries in a battery box and shoving it in the back so we can leave the key off for an extended amount of time The HVAC function far inadequate for extreme conditions found in a motor vehicle exposed to the elements. Truck sitting in the sun will frequently reach well over 170° interior and in freezing temperatures without idling the truck's diesel fuel will gel. The square footage in the cab of a truck is significant and requires substantial BTUs to adequately heat depending on the temperature variance between the interior and exterior of the vehicle. This beat you requirement far exceeds that of an apartment or home because trucks lack the insulation commonly found and fixed structures. The system is dangerous what's likely to happen is a driver is going to go to sleep with the system set it is going to fail and when it does someone's going to freeze to death.
Facts I keep waking up driving in the north east out here it’s -35 with windchill I set the system and my body luckily woke me up to let me know it was too cold that DC climate was blinking green and I set it as soon as I shut the truck off and put on opti idle. This feature can maybe subside in less extreme weather conditions but for high temperatures over 90 and freezing temperatures below 30s this system is inadequate. Having been using it for several months now I can tell this unit is not defective, it just can’t maintain itself in extreme conditions and will fault out due to the high stress load.
Same thing happened to me….I love this system works great normally but anything under 0 degrees and I wake up freezing and have to start my truck and idle…other than that I can go almost a 34 hour break sometimes without starting the truck
