But hey man, did you see that they are innovating by selling Afganistán in parts? That beats AI, Dynamic campaign and all of the other stuff we've been asking for, right?
@@liamoneal7643 Just look at how only countermeasures are accounted for that got released AFTER a missile left the rail. There is literally zero use to dropping flares beforehand, they are 100% ignored. And if you dig through all these nice files in the DCS folders, you soon realize just how simple most systems are. I really hope for a great Falcon 5 and people modding the heck out of it.
Yeah it's great if you're its your first time and you need some target practice to test out flying but after around 10 sorties yeah you learn its basic tricks.
it makes me not want to play MP because it makes for horrible BFM training. sometimes it just taps out, even if it's a loaded Su-27 or something. not much fun, kicking puppies
I always found that the DCS AI varies wildly from plane to plane. For example, the AI F5 is like a UFO with perfect energy management. (at least last time I tried).
That's not the bad part... the trouble is, for instance, landing on a carrier after asking permission and all that, and just after you land, some AI aircraft decides to land at the same time, right behind you and hits you
Create yourself an A-10 flight with one wingman, set to "runway start". The AI will attempt to TO in formation with you, until you lift off. As soon as you're airborne, the AI sees the runway as clear and moves over to the center, completely ignoring you. And because physics don't really apply to AI, it's going to ram you from behind, unless you immediately turn away.
These Falcon 3.0/MiG addon AIs are much better on ace level, than showed on the video. That F-16 was very lazy...looked like it has not set proper combat waypoint as CAP, SWEEP or ESCORT....Falcon 3.0 has very good AI, pulling hard and using many maneuvers..
that update for Ground AI is probably around 2026 or so. Then by 2030 they may start working on air AI. Meanwhile please buy a dozen of unfinished modules that will never get finished.
I think that was supposed to be a feature one day that the AI can mess up and fly into terrain but that it does that on ACE difficulty is kind of silly
The AI has no understanding of terrain or other obstacles, unless it's right in front of them. It's very apparent when you look at NOE helicopters or ground attack planes near mountains. It's been an issue in Flanker, in LOMAC and it's still present in DCS. It's most certainly not a feature.
I played a lot of old fighter sims, like Falcon or Strike Fighters Project and the bandits will do perfectly timed reversals. They do a fine job pretending to be a decent pilot. A human can do those by predicting but AI just sees you straight on their 6 o clock (even if plane should not allow it). It never bothered me as the result is the same - no easy kills. I suspect DCS has realistic cone of vision obstruction but they did not code the prediction to make up for it.
I always found Falcon 3's padlock to be disorienting so I used the external tracking view instead (Could just be because I was about 9-10 years old at the time). Somehow I remember this even after 30 years. Also if I could figure out that mission editor (as a CHILD) then you could, too.
@@NuclearFalcon146 I never tried making my own mission for falcon 3. But never really had to. There's so many out of the box. Yeah the padlock is really weird especially when the plane is under the HUD, it will fake project the HUD below you too.
I think ED doesnt prioritize AI because people mainly play MP PvP and use singleplayer for target practice and learning new aircraft. I still think they should update the AI (my potato canot handle MP)
Crashes in DCS happen very often. AI is weird. Once wjen flying on F-15C I fought MiG-21 on Rookie and ... I lost. After more than 10 minute fight I lost too much speed, too much altitude and got hit by R-60... Some other I fought F-16 while flying on MiG-15 and I won. 😅
@@av812bbbb oh a chopper, that maybe is why you think so, cause i wouldnt know how it feels flying a rotary also i guess if youre new and like me this is currently the only thing you know how to really fly? i know only how to fly the f15c which is why the ai feels ok to me although i am planning to buy the f14 soon
Still a videogame at the end of the day and games were made waaaaay harder back then, partly to compensate for being so short. Once they started pumping millions into games did they start to make them beatable.
@@andrewa837 hopefully the apparent resurrection of the Falcon series can smack DCS upside the head. Granted, all the mission planning features might scare away most DCS players; but at the same time, maybe not with a 21st-century UI
DCS is a strange game no doubt! I love Wings over Flanders field because I boot it up and I am placed on a field with my squad mates and we fire up the engines and go. Yes the FM is sucky but the way you just get in a plane and start engines and then have to fly patrol missions with random generated enemies.....it baffles me to no end that DCS cant even do this. WOFF does not have a dynamic campaign and its still amazing. DCS or rather ED are not capable of even a random patrol generator? Click campaign and it just auto generates missions over and over and be random? I mean how "EDIT" easy is this compared to creating an actual dynamic campaign? Anyway not to shit on DCS cause its great at systems but my good God it sucks at immersion and that makes me sad.
No aircraft has pulled 7g for two seconds. I personally destroyed the DCS forum mods which caused the developers to leave in early 2023. Core DCS development has been stalled for over a year solely due to my arguments against the DCS developers.
