Still the most comprehensive and functionally useful tutorials out there. Is there some information we don't "need" in order to use these weapons in game? Yes. Are we all nerds that enjoy said non-critical information? Yes... Yes, we are. I'm coming more and more to the realization that anyone who cares to play this game more than casually is a serious dork. I am among my people.
Great video. Now to figure out why the Mavericks just refuse to lock onto a lot of buildings including high contrast ones. And so far I haven't gotten a single missile to lock onto the important parts of an oil rig. They just fly into the water below it or hit the legs which doesn't seem to do any damage. Is there any kind of override to have it lock onto what you're pointed at and fire?
The AGM-65A maverick wasn't part of the AJS mod it was a separate mod for the AJ-37 Viggen around 1980. And the missiles are build in the US however the RB-75T warhead is Swedish as they needed a heavier one for use against bridges and ships. I do not know if it has any relation to the heavier warhead that the US stared putting in some maverick versions but this wouldn't be the first time a modification that Sweden has wanted has made it's way back to the US. I suspect the air force pushed quite heavily for the Maverick as they didn't like the RB05 program at all and would rather have wanted heavy bombs. At least with the Maverick the Viggen can do precision strikes against defended pinpoint targets without getting shot down something you can't with the RB05.
