Hey guys! I am pumped for these new additions to the F-16C Fighting Falcon! I wasn't a huge F-16 fan before she came to DCS but now I am absolutely loving the Wild Weasel role! and check out Leading Edge Supplents here! www.leadingedgesupps.com/
Man, with these two modes added she already is, I can't wait for the HTS Pod, a Block 50 without it hangin off the left side of the intake just doesn't look right!
These new HARM modes turn SEAD pilots into outright unstoppable flying monster SAM terminators. Just few hours ago I was doing some tests (using the Hornet). With PB mode you can easily outrange even an SA-10 on excellent skill level and because it lofts so high and falls at such steep angle, it's outside flap lid's track cone thus it can't launch missiles to intercept it. Launch HARMs at 40-35 nmi (you can easily do it even further out) away from SA-10 site and then keep flying towards it so that it turns on its flap lid track radar ("10" on RWR) so that your HARMs can home on it. By the time it launches on you, your HARMs will be way to close for missiles to reach you before HARMs destroy the radar. Like I said, even the most advanced SAMs like sa-10 are now easy pickins for HARMs.
@@antonbatura8385 Whilst when I tested it there weren't any SA-15s in the area. If I recall correctly I was able to destroy the SA-15 with HARM in PB mode no problem for the same lofting reason in a multiplayer game, but I don't know what skill level that SA-15 was set too, though pre-2.7 in that exact server you weren't able to destroy SA-15s with HARMs in TOO. I think this PB tactic works just as well against SA-15s, because prior to 2.7 the way to destroy SA-15s if there weren't any SA-10s or SA-11s etc in the area was to simply fly over them at angels 25+ because they can't engage you that high and bomb them with JDAMs or LGBs no problem.
@@antonbatura8385 Exactly what I was going to chime in with. That SA-10 should have some Sa-15s in the neighborhood to deal with incoming fire as well. IADS aren't simple one system setups but layered.
@@NLozar22 Well that is the safe way to do it. I would go a bit more dangerous and have a Maverick locked up and induce a shot at myself then launch the Maverick and dodge the missile while not getting far enough away that the 15 gives up on me and targets my missile. Not always effective first try but works second try. JDAMS are nice simply because the SAM cannot deal with them as long as you can get within drop range.
The HARMS have been really improved. Got a 67nm successful shot with a HARM in an F/A18-C in PB mode. I was flying at 40,000ft & at a speed of Mach 1.2. The HARM lofted to 74,000ft on the way to the target, a P-19 search radar.
how the hecc were you going at 40kft at supersonic in the hornet of all things? the hornet doesn't want to exit 5 degrees aoa at a max of 300-320 nautical miles per second for me when i go that high up.
@@PatrickRatman Yeah, you might wanna accelerate at a bit lower altitude, then climb. Angels 30 to 33 is a good acceleration altitude as even in blowers your fuel burn isn't as bad.
Once you are at that altitude, put the barometric altitude hold on with full AB you will gain speed to over Mach 1. Then once you are lined up with the SAM system you want to engage use HARM pullback rather than aircraft pullback. Once in range release the HARM & off it goes. Did have the HARM loft up to 74,000 get then dive towards the target.
I'm terribly torn between the viper and hornet with this sale going on. I'm unfortunately limited to an X1 controller, and yes I know that's forbidden lol, but I can't afford a HOTAS right now because I refuse to go cheap. As long as I can comfortably bind the HOTAS category to the controller, it should be doable right? Not ideal obviously, but I don't want to spend money on a hornet/viper and Syria if it's pretty much undoable. Any advice would be much appreciated!
I've got both birds. The 18 is a great all arounder. The 16 is better at chucking AMRAAMs for A-A work thanks to thrust to weight ratio but the 18 is no slouch at all if flown correctly. Also carrier traps and shots as an added bonus. I agree that for a single purchase the 18 is a solid starter and if you find the spare cash later on you can get the 16 for better A-A work and the CBU-97 is just a hoot.
Does the F16 is far from the BMS F16 actually? I have the F18 actually so is it worth it or do you advice to wait to have a system finish F16? (I care more for the system like complete radar/nav than weapons)
Uh just FYI the distance from center of the RTWS has nothing to do with distance and everything to do with signal strength and threat type (lethality). This would be a bad misnomer to be throwing out there as you could have someone assuming a MiG-21 at the mid or outter ring has a long range or weak signal and a MiG-29 at the same location but the MiG-21 would be much closer than the MiG-29. Had to modify this one as I was out of pocket on signal strength so corrected. Also TBH for REALLY showing off where EOM and PB will make a difference you would need to go up against the SA-10 or a Patriot as those are the only two systems that will push your range envelope. Even the SA-6 is no problem with simpler modes as it doesn't even shoot at you until around 20 NM which is WELL within range of the HARM.
the priority threat is represented by the Diamond around the symbol, the signal strength, can sometimes corresponds with threat priority but not always. Signal Strength does not always correlate to distance away from your aircraft. Your RWR is a passive sensor, it has no way to detecting the distance to a Spike
@@Spudknocker Exactly why I referenced the 21 and 29 at the same area of the scope. The system knows the 29 is deadlier so it would be farther away than the 21 even though they are in the same area of the scope the 21 would actually be closer. Obviously this is talking about a standard 21 and not those super hybrid ones where they put nasty missiles / FCR onto the 21. It knows where to place the threat on the scope (inner mid or outter) based on signal strength and threat type. This would be exactly why you could see a 29 and a 21 at the same distance from the center of the scope but the 21 would actually be much closer. Less lethal system.
Anyone having issues with trim in the new beta? I'm flying J-11, Mig29 and Su27/33 and I cant trim them? Even if I used default commands. Nothing happens.
Really enjoy your vids buddy, love 2.7 but the crashes are very annoying, I understand it’s open beta, but crashes are happening a lot, as you see in the Ed forums, no crashes with the previous beta but this update is very buggy. Keep up the great work spudknocker👍
You can copy/paste this comment every time people get obsessed with absolutely having to have the newest release .001 seconds after it's released. It's a beta. It just dropped. This is reality. Now, if you want, design a computer ecosystem like the original Mac, or the current iPhone. No options whatsoever for modification or graphics. Only allow certain peripherals and controllers from manufacturers who will spend a lot of time and money certifying their products and drivers to work with the closed ecosystem. But, in the real world, it's absolutely impossible to write software that works with the nearly infinite number of various OS installs, drivers, graphics, etc. C'est la vie.
Well, technically, it's DEAD, not SEAD. Can't really do proper SEAD in DCS, since without complex trigger scripting, the only way to suppress a SAM in DCS is to slag it.
Anton Batura def take a Look, still not as Good as BMS but it’s way better than vanilla DCS. I don’t even bother playing missions anymore without Skynet :D
@@publicm0vZ well I got it to work quite easily, with no prior scripting experience. Thanks again, it's a bigger game changer for me than those pretty clouds.
