Thanks for the great vid man! Good stuff. Fly the 16 in multiplayer all the time but sometimes the single player triggers escape me. Thanks for talking through it.
Your videos for the Weasels Over Syria campaign are great and have been very helpful to review! I flew this mission, but couldn’t find the dang Fire Can radar. I had my HAD pod set to only class 2 to speed up the scanning, but it looks like the FC is not a class 2 like the SA-8s. Your HAD screen showed the FC very quickly and you were able to get him. Well, now I know! Lesson learned.
Thanks for the series. Trying to relearn everything I once knew until my hiatus from DCS erased everything from memory 😂 One thing I am struggling the most with in the F-16 is spatial awareness. The thing flies so fast, I often feel disoriented. Something I never struggle with in the helos.
Great video as always. The one area I am very weak at is the coms. I always have easy coms enabled and start the mission hot. Using all the radios and cold starting is a crap shoot. I watch a tutorial on all of it, then don't fly that module for 3 weeks, then I can't remember all the details. I am only missing 2 modules. The acrobatic biplane and the Aero L-39. The A10C-II has gummed up the works. That is the most complex module by far and takes all my time. So when I jump into the Viper it feels alien and foreign. I can't find the coolie switch...lol
I just got into DCS this week, these videos are AMAZING! The Viper is such a nice jet to fly. I had a question, how did you get your name just under the HUD?
Hey Bogey Dope, I have some questions: First: What's the meaning of steady "MASK TGP" and flashing "MASK TGP"? Second: I cannot find the Can Radar, I mark it in the HAD, change to the TGP, TMS down, but no chance to see / find the radar. I do the procedure according to your explanation, but no chance to find it. Do you have an idea? Thanks in advance.
Steady "Mask TGP" means the Targeting pod is being visually blocked by something. Usually a part of the jet. A wing, the fuselage, or fuel tank. A blinking "Mask TGP" means it's about to be visually blocked by something. Blinking is a warning that it's about to happen. Using the HAD page to find radars will only be effective when you have a PGM quality better than 3. Preferably 2 or even better, 1. Then switch to tgp and it should be fairly close. Let me know if that helps.
@@BogeyDopeThanks a lot for your fast reply and explanation. Stupid question, what is PGM and where can I find out which I have (3, 2 or 1) ? Update: Found it, if I mark the Can in the HAD, it shows PGM2. But when I change to the TGP, SOI it and then TMS down, I cannot find the Can on the MFD, I think, I‘m probably too blind 🤣
@@marcok.9236 you'll see PGM quality at the top right corner of the HAD page. This will start at 5 which means it knows approximately the area it is in but not really close to exact. 4 is better, 2 is pretty good but not exact still. 2 will get you in the general area but you'll have to look around. PGM 1 is the best but still not dead on. You'll still need to look around the area. Also remember TMS down will send you to the last steer point. You don't want to press TMS down. Press TMS up for point track and the rdr cursor up, down, left, right to look around the area.
@@BogeyDope That was my mistake, I always pressed TMS down (TGP) after I marked the Can in the HAD. Of course, you are absolutely right, pressing TMS down send me to the last steer point. Problem solved, thanks a lot for your help!
Hi! Thanks for your videos. I wanted to ask how you get such a detailed image on the TGP screen that you can see the models of vehicles? In my case, I only see squares that take shape only when I get very close. Is there a setting for this, or is there something wrong with my version of the game (Steam edition)?
@mvidkjaer faster, and yes in real life there is degradation...... However, I have yet to experience such behavior in DCS. So stored heading gets me in the air faster.
did you not setup anything else for the DataLink? I used your workaround, Sync is Fine now, but I don't see the blue symbology in the HSD. Also, on P2 of the DataLink page on the DED, first FC is 000? I do see 2 channels on P3.. Don't know much about DataLink feature yet but it seems useful!
The Datalink just changed in the last update (Yesterday). So the work around in this video is no longer valid. - "When starting or restarting the aircraft, the MIDS switch must first be set to OFF. Only set to ON after the GPS switch has been set to ON for 60 seconds and the DED TIME page displays GPS SYSTEM."
Got stuck and frustrated with this mission, but oh man, the realisation how poor my knowledge is to tackle this - I thought HAD mode is only available with HARM equipped. Back to school I guess.
Unfortunately... the only thing I have found is the wings snapping off under extreme loads with heavy loadouts - ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-fkF6tOuzZ3Y.html I have not seen any evidence of any other over-g effects like hung stores or anything. I'm sure that'll come in the future.
I tried your Datalink workaround and it's not working. I get every other Aircraft to show up on my HSD on Datalink but not my Flight. Really Frustrating 😂 Well i get a green circle with a 2, but it stays at h4 for the whole mission
@@TrayMcBong This work around is ONLY for the older version of DCS at the time of this video recording and has since been resolved/fixed. If you are having data link issues, it is related to something else. Try reaching out to ED on their discord in the help channel.
