I just read several books of slick drivers in vietnam. So great to see a lot of the stuff mentioned in those books implemented into these missions. Myself I feel mastering flying a Heli incredibly difficult, although I do have the modules...so unless I find the time to put in some serious hours of practice I will be hopelessly lost would I try to fly the missions. So thanks for still making it possible for me to be on board!

Finished mission 2 yesterday, so immersive. Reflected has done an amazing work. Best part of these campaigns is that you really get a feel for the module and learn alot of new things. Lanky you are a great Huey pilot.

Thank you! You are spot on tho, all campains are best learning tools. This one particularly for me as 99% of my huey flying has been no gunners & just throwing around maps rarely looking at a guage. The extra weight is a grameat challange.

Great job, Lanky! I flew this earlier and came over here to see what I may have missed. I definitely cracked up by your experience as I had (once again) similar WTH moments on my mission too. I was a bit more skeptical of the AI and gave them a bit more room in formation. I was able to stay in "loose" formation without risking a mid-air. It seems as though whenever there's a change in the flight plan (landing at HQ, going into orbit at LZ, or even dropping off troops, the AI gets a little wonky. That move to orbit the LZ when the F4's come in almost cost me a restart. Lagging behind Chalk2 a bit did prevent me from losing sight of the flight however. The best feeling was coming in behind my mates and dropping off the troops all at once. VERY cool! The speed in which they exited the LZ was crazy (same thing at the start). I just hugged formation as best I could and got the heck out. I was impressed you went back and laid down some additional fire for the boys. Lastly, the landing was exactly what I experienced. Like a good wingman (that can't be the proper term for Heli pilots), I followed Chalk2 up and away from Anderson. Like you, I figured there was a good reason for his departure. I irritated and turned back to Anderson when I realized the AI had lost his mind. LOL. It felt great to experience this and then watch your video and see/hear your reactions in much the same way. I'll see you when I complete the next mission, sir!

Also - where did you get that Huey Checklist for the Kneeboard?
@lankypilot778
@lankypilot778 2 года назад
Nice one! Yes its great getting to see/hear other reactions, I often do the same where possible. I'm often my own enemy in missions, love my close formations too much & never want to stop the adrenaline so hang around risking neck to often haha. They AI is always source entertainment, always full surprises. Good luck on the next one!

Oh kneeboard shld be on there, part of mission. I have a second one which i had generally off user files but Reflected has a great one in mission

I'm so glad you are doing these missions I love nothing more than trying the mission myself (with my favourate aircraft & favourate map) 1st then watching how you went in your video.

I also love watching others approaches to missions! Often ends up in a few head slaps from what I missed haha
@michaelsearle6538
@michaelsearle6538 2 года назад
@@lankypilot778 Speaking of head slaps.The sense of loss when landing too hard even in vr in the 3rd mission in that small clearing and disabling my Huey is so disappointing because it means I will have to start the mission yet again (another 20 minutes to get back to that point). But I have to remind myself of Mike Durant’s account in his new book about his own real-life experience of his own crash in Somali as made famous by the movie “Blackhawk down” as recounted at the beginning of this great interview of Mike by Jocko. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-2I832OfW-YY.html You know I am still surprised that there has not been a “Start-up” for a spring loaded 4 by 2 (a plank of wood for those of you who were born outside of Australia) that is linked to the damage model that will smack you in the back of the head if you misjudge a landing.

Thanks for the link will definitly give it a listen! Well I played that 3rd mission yesterday & I can say I was half a second away from joining you haha. Should have vid up tomo. Thanks again, always great to have this kind of feedback & heads up on interesting things haven't seen.

Lankypilot77 for sure. He's LANKY and CLUMSY. LOL needs a bit more practice LOL. I did enjoy watching and I think I'm going to pick this up for myself. Nice video though.

What i change right at the beginning of any mission is my fuel state. it´s always 100% and unneccesary wheight. i always change it to 45-50 instead. helps alot.
@lankypilot778

I think keeping fuel 100% was Reflected purposely recreating the overweight choppers the guys had to deal with from the war & extra challenge. Definitely would assist running half weight

Just finished this yesterday! I was curious if there is a way to gain altitude as fast as they did but like you my exhaust was the safest I could go. Mission one took me 11 to 12 times with the hot lz landing. My appraches were tough until the last one! Love watching your videos as much as flying the mission!

Very challenging conditions with the extra weight, I was very lucky on several occasions throughout. Yes that was definitely a tough opener mission haha. Think I had eyes half closed on that lz

Protip, never try to keep up with the Ai. They will always be able to defy physics without breaking anything unlike us human pilots

Need some help, after startup, they tell you to set radios. Is there another switch you have to hit beside setting up all 3 frequencies? I can't get the other helis to start. Just sit on the apron.
@lankypilot778
@lankypilot778 8 месяцев назад
Hi Derek, sorry it's been a while since flown dcs to test the memory. For Huey I think you just set frequencies like you say & of course make sure each switched on. Don't remember another step. Make sure not using easy communication in settings. Hope you've already worked it out since posting
