[DCS] MiG-21Bis Hangar Talk 1 - Overview

The Leatherneck Simulations MiG-21Bis is not released yet. Still I thought I would start off with a small video about the MiG-21Bis.
While looking at the 3D modell of the aircraft ingame, I wanted to talk about some of the MiG-21's systems and desing.
If you intrested I will do another one of those videos to hopefully shorten the time to release.

Thanks a lot for this John. It's excellent! Please do hanger talks of ALL planes and helos you can find. :) Its cool to spend some time on the eyecandy outside while talking over the major features. Keep it up!

Thanks for the feedback! While I am not sure if I will do the Hangar Talk for all the modules currently available, I will try to cover most of the upcoming releases as far as I can!

Mig21 runs on vodka that's why all missiles miss... also pilot has to retrieve his parachute from above afterburner in eject situation... this is design feature to encourage pilot to bring home his plane rather than bail out during risky case of clearing gun jam with explosive charges. very educational thanks ;)

The nosecone does not move to let in more or less air. It moves in order to move the point where the shock-wave is formed.

Yes, that is the principle it works with. However it has two main purposes: - Supplying the compressor with a rpm dependent amount of air. This is done by changing the intake diameter which in turn moves the shock-wave as you mentioned. - Compressing and heating the air with minimal losses.

Yes, they have been temporarily removed because of some (performance?) issues. They will come back at a later point apparently!

Radar is cooled with alcohol that vaporizes......Why the fuck is not water cooled with regular radiator again?

Probably to reduce weight and size. The Mig-21 is an Inteceptor by design - it takes off, is guided to the target, shoots the target and lands again. In most cases you need the radar only for a couple of minutes during the actual engagement. Therfore having a simple system that is much lighter than advanced cooling is probably more efficient.
