Landing the MiG-29S in DCS World. Straight in landing step by step. This is the plane that inspired me to make videos in the first place. As always, it's better to bounce than tailstrike.
Come in about 20km/h faster than the landing mode on the HUD suggests. Follow the circle down. At about 20 metres off the ground, it'll start pitching up to about 10 degrees on the HUD. Keeping speed at this point may require a touch more throttle. Stay at 10 degrees and slowly drop to about 2m off the ground. Cut throttle and pitch up to 11 degrees as you slow down.
Now, you have a choice. You can stay here at 11 degrees for a second to slow down your descent, then return to 10 degrees and touch down. Or you can stay at 11 degrees and bleed off until you touch down. I usually use the 10 degree method to touch down sooner, reduce bounces, and reduce chances of tailstrikes.
On touch down use brakes and/or drag chutes. Just remember that crosswinds can pull you off course with the chute, so it's good to practice both.
