Great tutorial, I find one of the reason I avoid the warbirds in DCS is engine management. It’s easier to just jam the Hornets throttles forward and go. This will be a big help!😊
From a warbird pilot (original T-6 and BT-13) - this is one of the best radial engine management tutorials I’ve seen, period. Simple in explanation, but thorough. 👍👏 Bravo Zulu! As for why pilots advanced the RPM lever FIRST or retard the same lever LAST during power changes, it’s to prevent damage to the engine by accidentally exceeding max manifold pressure. Blue skies!
Okay, the oil cooler doors were wide open and the oil temperature was below the minimum. I closed the oil cooler doors all the way and the oil temp rose into the green. That brought the oil pressure down. What I reckon is the oil wasn't warm enough and was thick causing high pressure. But you've got to keep an eye on the oil temperature as if you leave the oil cooler doors closed it will eventually overtemp. When it gets close you'll want to at least open the oil cooler doors half way to neutral.
Just recently I discovered your channel. You are doing a great job, great video and audio quality! Besides, you are direct on point without leaving out important details. Great work and keep up the great job. Subscribed :D
