Thanks RedKite, that was an interesting video. I really appreciated your skill in avoiding collisions with your flight lead & I think his Tacan was 56X. Good content as always & that second guns kill was tidy.
For an air to air Tacan Yardstick you need to be +63 from your flight lead to pick up ranging information (no bearing) I've got a video on that :) It's a little different from a dedicated tacan station with beacon hardware (like a tanker). Saint didn't make it easy for me to do formation, hence the relaxed position i took up most of the time!
@@RedKiteRender I remember your video about the tacan yardstick. However, something is strange in this mission. Played it yesterday in latest open beta and needed to tune 56X for ranging and it showed R21 as ID.
I always learn things when watching your videos. Truly appreciated. Hopefully you decide to play through more of the missions in the campaign. I'm planning on starting it this weekend.
Ain't it tricky?! I'm now semi OK with systems but putting it all together in a fluid mission is just a bit too much at the moment! Hope you nailed it since you this then :)
Man, I'd love to watch you play the whole thing! Not sure what's the stance on that since it's a purchasable campaign (good arguments going either way), but still, love what you do Also really liked the Tacview debrief!
Does anyone know why this isn’t available on Steam yet or when it will be available? As always, Redkite, great video! You’re one of my favorite DCS content creators. I appreciate everything you do!
Amazing campaign , can anyone fully translate what is the Boss saying at the intro phase. I understand half of it only and would like to add that line in my mission. Great content RK
The first time I watched this, I also questioned what the fuck was with saint's "Defensive" maneuver. After reading the book, yeah. makes sense, dude was fucking inept
You dialed your own A/A tacan frequency. But when using Saints it does work, its how I worked a half mile distance out, as my look I would never have got it.
Tacan yardsticks require you to be +63 from the flight lead, which is what my assigned frequency is. That's how it works in reality / with player controlled aircraft. I suspect Ai don't play by the same rules, but a/a t/r 119x should be correct, i'l have to experiment next time.
@@RedKiteRender now you have said this it has jogged my memory, I do remember being taught this a long while back. That said I did not realise it was modelled in DCS! Good to know.
Thanks for the video! Just finished the 1st mission last night. Saint is such a douche lol. He did the same thing to me turning into me going back to marshal. How did you sync video to tacview? Would love to use that in my debriefs
@@rampageTG haha yeah i ended up finishing the book shortly after this. Definitely agree. The author said he's never ever met any officer like Saint or based saint off of anyone (thank god those types are rare/dont exist in the usn), he just made an amalgam of the worst traits he could think of in an officer, basically.
Great video as always. I'm a bit struggleling when Saint says, switch Tower, isn't it channel 9 on Comm 1? Than I have to give the "see you at 10" command from the menu correct? I didn't do that so I have got no grade and "no proper communication". Thanks for your help in advance.
do you have some mods on the labels? it seems that either you are switching them on manually, or that they are disappearing when getting closer? great video, as usual!
They're listed on the kneeboards (shift K and [ ] ) However because of my multi-monitor setup you can't see them, I do occasionally edit in the kneeboards for important bits.
Sure, but your trim is wrong, so the aircraft won't pitch up correctly. It's not a huge deal unless you're flying an asymmetric payload. I'm just doing it by the (real) book.
You can edit object properties and change their colour to Red, Orange, Purple, Green or Blue, i swapped him from red to green. It's really useful for highlighting important flights too.
