Hey I’ve been thinking about getting dcs in the future and want to know if the super carrier comes with jets

I play warthunder, top tier Sim Battles. Aircraft line ups from F-16, F-15, F-14 and even the Mirage variants. I've always kept an eye on DCS. it's beautiful. I don't understand why Warthunder is so expensive, yet can't look as good as DCS. Is it worth it to make the transition from Warthunder Air simulator to DCS?? I'm not close with anyone I know who has it.

I find the plane director doesn't even get me close to centerline and I have to fine tune it myself. The game also automatically aligns you right before launch anyway

I bought SC together with the F14 module, so when I later saw an instructional vid WITHOUT the crew, I was happy I bought it since it only took me 5 minutes to figure out the deck crew's instructions without any help from a YT vid

Guess that would make more sense on bigger maps... Also, I'm pretty positive it would be taking up to decades to develop such a module (especially something like B-1 or B-52). I hope ED won't do that, but a dedicated third party could be the right answer to this.

I would love to fly a buff and drop 108 bombs on targets. Wouldn't mind the B1 or C130 or KC135 Tanker either! We need to keep bugging ED about this

I'd love to see a player driven tanker... or a hawkeye with multicrew! Actually, WW2 bombers like the mitchell would be cool too...

the reason they have not added in cargo, ata fuelling or large bombers is you need large crews in most cases things like the caribou dont require more than 2 to crew but in most cases a crew of up to 6 is neaded and programming ai takes ages and after a couple of weeks of the aircraft being in dcs no one wants to be just the bombardier or the navigator for instance there are more f14 pilots than rios that y they dont ad such planes

Yea it'd be almost as lame if ED made you pay $50 for a WWII long-range escort fighter but you had to pay $30 to be able to escort period-accurate bombers and then $45 more to fly your WWII aircraft on a WWII map Oh yeah that's right, they actually did that......

@@nicksiegfried4906 I guess that sucks, idk I just like to support them as developers and like to buy any module that I would enjoy, as they all gotta pay bills and continue development on new modules. But they put up good sales fairly often so there's opportunity for getting modules in a bundle pricing.

@@nicksiegfried4906 You know? despite this still being FUCKING stupid the BIGGEST thing that pisses me off about that is EVEN FOR THE ASSETS PACK I need everyone else to have it in order to USE IT....meaning those Korea era missions using era correct tanks ect basically go out the window...lucky Supercarrier doesn't do this...

I use it for everything, makes my flying time easier. So much easier to say gear up or down rather than selecting a keybind, or hotas button.

I an not a fan of a naval operations but i am glad supercarrier has been released so now ED team will probably have more time finishing other stuff like wwII or DCS core improvements.

@@rcpilot9963 well, I think the Supercarrier module, just as any other EA module, still has quite a way to go before it reaches a "finished" state. I'd really appreciate it if ED could finish up on their other EA modules before working on and releasing new ones...

It's for people who don't have a brain. Carriers should come with the plane modules that cost as much as a full game. From now on ED won't improve anything about their game for free anymore. Plane $80. Map $50. Carrier $50. So a basic setup is $180 and you can't save the game, the "AI" is trash, the lighting is trash (yeah there were a few tweaks but the big issues are still present), dead and static world, bombs need direct hit, no fox3 guidance logic etc. etc. Basically the combat stuff is completely broken and inaccurate. If you don't want to "play" multiplayer this game totally sucks. And because of multiplayer, the core game never gets attention, because the devs are busy fixing multiplayer stuff. I'm fed up and I get to the point where I would prefer paid core elements. The "air quake babies" can have their bare plane and map for MP and the seasoned (pro) simmers (like me) who only play SP get their fuckin core game. The "busy airport DLC", the "SAM DLC", the "(Super?) Savegame DLC", the "Decent lighting DLC" and so on. I can't believe they stopped working (yeah I know, they always work on everything, if you ask them) on the SA-5 and SCUD (PG trailer 2018) to push out some modules I don't give a shit about. New modules is the last thing this game needs but the majority of the community have a different opinion, and the game will stay like this forever. I won't be the only one who will leave DCS as soon as MSFS is available. The combat stuff is broken anyway so there's no reason to stay. I'd rather fly over Iraq or Vietnam etc. with realistic and beautiful weather and lighting than firing unrealistic fox3 missiles at stupid enemies with UFO flight model.

Do yourself a favour and use this nice little tool to get there: forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=160053&highlight=update+tool Or if you prefer the manual thing, go to your DCS World\bin folder in a cmd window and type in: *DCS_updater.exe update @openbeta* Documentation: forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=114030 That way you don't need extra space for another installation (you could always get back to stable this way as well or to a specific OB version that runs fine). And I recommend switching over right now as the 2.5.6 version comes with a massive truckload of terrain data that will be a big PITA to download when everyone is updating. Get it now while it's still fast :)

That's how I saw it. I sucked at carrier ops, but I also wasn't really good enough at it to stick landings reliably. The way I see it, the guidance onto the cat, and the ability to have a little extra guidance on approach are well worth it.

@@aaronwhite1786 I'll take an accurately scaled boat with moving deck crew over the overly small Stennis with its crap spawns and mp netcode handling with multiple people on the boat at the same time. Granted, a little biased in my excitement since I got it for $6

Gort VoiceAttack and Viacom Pro (separately-purchased pieces of software) are a great solution that offers exactly the functionality you describe.

@@torreypine Thanks Ron, but in my view that's a work around and additional complexity that I shouldn't have to undertake to improve the playability of the game. DCS World should provide more realistic radio communication functionality for me. In case ED is listening, here's my perspective: I'm a very experienced retired military and civilian pilot. I play DCS for fun, and to hopefully learn a little bit about airplanes and missions I didn't get to experience in my own flying career. I'm very much for realism where it is achievable, but trying to model a real pilot-aircraft interface with a mouse wheel and pointer under Track IR is way too fiddly and frustrating for me. It's unlike, and much more difficult than, interacting with a real airplane, and this actually detracts from an immersive and realistic experience. Instead of trying to accurately replicate the physics of the cockpit, I would prefer they try to accurately replicate the way it feels to fly in it. This is where 'total realism' purists actually lose realism, because reality provides cues, sensations, and awareness that you can't get from your computer desktop. At least with the FC3 aircraft and keyboard commands I don't have to remove my hand from the stick at inopportune times, and using my throttle hand to flip switches by keyboard is actually closer to how you control a real aircraft. It's ironic, but it seems my experience and habits make DCS more difficult for me than it is for most flight sim gamers. I guess I don't want to have to learn a new way of flying that will override lifetime habits and experiences that I want to remember. I enjoy many aspect of DCS, but I wish it wasn't so hard to do simple stuff and so easy to do difficult stuff, so please keep working on improvements.

@@ramtin-s8722 Not trying to be rude, but that kind of detail isn't really pertinent and could distract from my point. I'll just admit to having a lot of jet time in very small types as well as very large types, but I was not a fighter pilot. I'm in DCS to learn a bit more about how the other half lived. I'm not in DCS because I want to painfully slog through mundane housekeeping switchology with a mouse in the name of 'realism'. Using TRACK IR and a mouse to flip switches that are low and aft on a side console, or even worse on the floor or behind the seat of a WWII aircraft, is too difficult and distracting to feel realistic. In a real airplane you usually do such things easily and without undue distraction while keeping your hand on the stick.

I thought the Kuznetzov was meant to update for everyone. It didn't?

Just more of the usual. SC started as a free upgrade for the existing carrier as a build-up to the release of the F-18, then became a free module for purchasers of the F-18, then became a paid module. Similar to the Nellis map, which was going to be free for everyone, then became free for purchasers of the A-10C, then at release became free only for pre-release purchasers of the A-10C. Now the fixes and upgrades for the A-10C we have been promised for years have turned into a paid module, A-10C II, which will likely languish in pre-release hell for years. Don't bother to look for the posts on ED's forums for the history of this, those posts have "mysteriously" disappeared......... However if you search hard enough, you can find posts from people who have discovered partial builds of the upgraded carrier as part of the "standard" carrier already in the sim, a ghost of the first development before it was abandoned for the paid module. You can occasionally glitch into those parts. I can't speak to the Kuznetzov, as I don't, and never will, own the SU-33 module, so didn't follow any of that. The Red stuff just doesn't interest me, other than as targets :) I bought the SC module during pre-release, used my miles, plus my ownership of F-18 additional reduction, and got it for a song. Otherwise, wouldn't have bought it. The biggest reason for buying it for me was they had been back-and-forth on whether it will be required for play on MP servers that have it, and frankly with ED's history, I can't take their word for it not being an issue. As I did already have the F-18 module, also bought cheap, at some point in the future I might play around with it. At this point, I haven't even bothered to download and install it. I have heard reports of there being issues for those who don't own it on servers that have it, let's see if it gets fixed. To be fair to ED, those issues seem to be related to the issues some have had from downloading modules during the free-for-all event, but I found it interesting. The only module I have paid full price for was the A-10C, I bought the box on day of release (not knowing about the online pre-release option) and was at the time promised the Nellis map on release. When they took that away, I decided it would be prudent to never again take ED's word for anything, or pay full price for any module. Unfortunately, I have been proven right, time and again. Intentional or not, there always seems to be some sort of chicanery with the release of every module from ED. They seriously need to get their act together. Don't get me wrong, I don't hate ED, or the sim. I think that this sim is one of the best military flight sims we have, and has the potential to be the best ever made, if ED will just get it together and iron out their process. There is very clearly a "one hand doesn't know what the other is doing" problem behind the scenes, and they are about as organized as a Chinese fire drill, running back and forth between projects as deadlines loom. They claim that they have organized crews to work on each module, but their releases prove that claim to be suspect. Finally, we come to the issue of bugs and bloat. The SC looks cool and has some pretty nifty features, but..... Every module introduces new bugs, and breaks older modules, to the point that I find myself dreading a new module release. So far it seems that the F-18 has been the worst offender, as ED has reworked numerous existing systems to get things working in the F-18, crippling some older modules, which then don't seem to get fixed. For example, thanks to changes made for the F-18, the A-10C HUD is broken, Mavericks go sideways off the rails, the TGP is once gain borked in IR mode, etc. Will the SC module's new ATC bug out the JTAC and ATC already in the sim? Will having it on the map slow systems often already overloaded down to a crawl? On some MP maps I can already click "play" and go make a sandwich while it loads, will the SC module turn that into dinner and a movie? And not all of us can afford multi-thousand dollar system upgrades every year to keep up. Very few I suspect. ED needs to get what they already have fixed, optimized, and working before they introduce anything else after this. But I doubt that is going to happen. They keep wanting to chase the next shiny new thing, and forget about what they already have.

++++ It is funny to sell ATC someone should tell them that this is a flight simulator and ATC is important as an airplane.

The nose launch-bar has been fixed but it is still on and off if it will actually look like it connected. For your second point it is up to the player to salute on launch so whoever took that clip did it late. The pilot flight model is just generic so they can have custom livery’s for multiple countries and squadron’s and not need to make a pilot model for each country/squad

Sure needs some tuning still. The kneeling isn't in there. And the GR vids showed the 14 suddenly starts kneeling as soon as the cat's being shot, but not after the hookup.
