A good way to figure range, if you have no WP, is to make hud soi, place VV over the harm target box and designate, this will give you a rough range

It's not a nice thing to do, but sometimes you have to put those SAMs in HARMs way!

In SP mode, you can actually cycle through all the contacts on the RWR using cage/uncage. It’s still not as easy to target clusters but you can target specific contacts in other directions, even if it’s not the highest priority contact

That is the best intro I have ever seen

I'd just add that you can filter through target types using "Class", which can be really useful in target rich environments and especially when there are friendly emitters around.

Men i bought the F18 just this 2.7 sale update and a 2 months old DCS player. i first bought the F-14 due to friends popular demand. i love it but i really want to have a modern plane. thus this sale, i bought the F-18. really love your A/G tutorials. its precise and engaging. still finishing all your F18 tutorials. btw. what is the name of the intro song or the version of the song? cant seem to find it. Many thanks for the tutorials i really appreciate it a new to the simulator

Don't forget that HARMs are very maneuverable. While in SP mode, you can fire at SAM sites that are to the side or even behind you. However, if the SAM site is close to you the HARM won't know how to turn and will end up doing weird stuff like flying straight up or down.

I know it’s an old video but there is no ”in range” indicator somewhere right? I’ve noticed online that some harms went for SAMs too far away and therefore were just a waste of a launch.

Is it just me, or is the F-16 harms much more steps than with the f-18 using agm-88?

Don't think I have ever pressed cage/uncage to hand off the target to the missile, but I have also never had an issue with it hitting the selected target in either SP or TOO modes either without performing the the h-off. Clearly in the real world aircraft it would make a difference, so is it just bugged in dcs?

Amazing video but it is not necessary to drop flares when you're engaging SAMs. You're just wasting them. Chaff is the only thing that helps to confuse their radar. Flares are good against AAA but they won't be able to attack you at these distances.
