While it's a bit of a stretch from your usual content, get the Supercarrier module and the Raven One single-player campaign. I think you'll find it's quite entertaining.
@@OperatorDrewski It's so very very good. I can't think of any singleplayer combat I'd recommend more. Plus the supercarrier is just... well, better for anything involving a carrier.
Something else that could be fun: The creator of the Raven One campaign also published a free co-op mission on the DCS website. It’s a training hop that you can fly with a buddy that gives you a great taste of what the campaign (and pretty realistic carrier ops) is like.
Well, it is anachronistic. The AIM-120 replaced the sparrow in the 90's as the principle BVR weapon, and the JHMCS wasn't around until the 2000's. Same goes for the LINK-16 you see him using. For a "ReAliStIC" cold war era mission, the pilot should just refrain from using these features, as they can't actually be outright disabled in the mission settings.
though, putting "realism" aside, AIM-7s should be a tiny bit more fun than AIM-120s, just for the fact that you have more stuff to do. ...unless you're engaging multiple bandits, that aint fun anymore.
The SP mode when using harms stands for "self protection" When something is locking you you go into SP mode and it will automatically lock it and all you have to do is press fire
For HARMs, using SP (self protect) will launch after whatever is currently guiding on you. So as soon as you get launched on, just launch a HARM in SP in that direction then crank away.
Love the content and the DCS videos, always looking forward to them. Gonna post a 2021 flight setup? Saw you got the control modules now as well and have been in VR.
Drewski, we've all seen how sneaky you can be with the Flanker in A2A, and how effective you can be in the F/A-18 in A2G, but how about some helo action? Would love to see you fly the Ka-50 or the Hind.
Liking the music choices, clean as always. I swear Josh is voicing the EWAC operator that you're chatting to; possibly could do as an April fool's joke.
Hi drewski, your videos are what’s getting me through my days! thank you so much! Also I love that you’re playing naval stuff I’m hoping to enlist in the navy in a couple of years! I appreciate what you do! Thank you!!
PB or Pre-briefed is mode that allows you to end the coordinate of the target, and then loft the HARM either with the aircraft or the missile, to get maximum range. Firing in HAS or SP give you around 30nm while the PB can give you almost 70nm
@@flighttherapybullisticfpv133 Yeah definitely useful just wish it was a bit more user friendly like f16. debuts later but still has half the ergonomics.
From basically the @11:00 minute mark -- I would study the fundamentals of BFM, plenty of resources out there, and brush up on Corner Speed, managing your speed as well.
It's funny how there's always more room to improve. When I play DCS I can barely get off the ground and I look at Drewski as some kind of god when it comes to this, but even for him there's more he can learn.
SP works the exact same way as TOO, but instead of using the harm display, u cycle through the RWR contacts. So its easier for quick acquisition, but it wont give you exact ranging and location data. so SP is better for quick firing, while TOO is better for planned attacks. PB is essientally like pitbulling a HARM... i dont really use it ever, but its good for avoiding mountains cause i beleive you can program steer points in the missles flight path.. but im not 100% sure on that
@@THEdanrugaming yeah, SP would’ve automatically locked onto the RWR signature. No need to look for it on the TOO screen. I was screaming in my head the whole time USE SP!!!!
Drewski after watching your dcs vids you inspired me… to buy both the f18 the a10c, a10a and f15c and a new hotas so… thanks for inspiring me to blow my wallet 😂
I have been trying to get into DCS for awhile now, but i need help with some learning. I want to learn how to become a better pilot, and i need someone to explain things like radar and notching, and all of those sorts of things to me. Are there any podcasts or websites or videos that you would recommend to help me out?
notching is when you go perfectly or near perfectly perpendicular to their radar and it has a tougher time seeing you because it’s harder for radar to differentiate between you and the background/ground. if you need any help with the f16 i’ve got a lot of experience in it and some in the f14. i’d recommend looking at a channel called GrimReapers (or something like that) he has great videos to teach you almost everything there is to know
For the basics in general look up the Basic Fighting Maneuvering playlist by the channel Air Combat Library, and The Art of the Kill which is the 1 hour video instructional with a real F-16 instructor for Falcon 3.0 (/watch?v=OCFMX5z-ed4). For more DCS content Growling Sidewinder has tutorials on notching, beaming, f-pole, etc. In regards to podcasts The Fighter Pilot podcast has an episode on Wild Weasels, one on SAMs and one on AAA. They're about real life pilots and how they deal with threats in real life but the information is relevant.
You mentioned having trouble with the Sparrows on the F-14. I think everything but the MH variant is currently bugged so much, it's essentially useless. Hopefully the next patch fixes it. As for losing locks all the time, go to the special options for the F-14 and disable Jester auto-switch to P-STT. It's usually the main reason for 3/4 of all the lost locks.
@@OperatorDrewski any time. 10 miles is definitely a rough rule of thumb, it takes some experimentation to get a sense of the trade offs. Turning off LOFT basically gets you a much faster missile but with much shorter range, which is particularly useful when engaging high-aspect bandits that may return fire.
Did not realize a player could act as an AWACS for everyone else. Just getting into DCS myself and learning the F/A-18C. There's so much to do this is awesome. Keep coming back to these other videos for that instant gratification lol
