Haven't played since 2012. Coming back. It's going to be like a brand new game after not playing so long, and so much has changed. Thx for the video and information. You rock!
As someone who’s struggled to understand anything more than basic combat in this game , those video was super helpful and well put together thanks a lot.
Have seen and almost tried this game several times over the years. Just now finally pulled the trigger and played a bunch today. Got to level 16 or something. This game is so dope! I appreciate this guide a ton! Very well put together and concise. Made having a direction to move towards a breeze. Thank you much!
I stopped playing 5 years ago but it seems like the game has grown to be more f2p friendly from what I've seen. Starting over soon so this will be a helpful refresh.
Thank you for this information, iEddy. I'm a returning player after being gone since 2013 when I left the game after 2 years of play. Nice to see DCUO is still around. :D
Thanks for this I used to be a veteran player back when Sony owned the rights to the game, and when Daybreak first started pushing out content when they took over. I was on PC (a very low tech one sadly) and was a rage tank/dps with a side villain character. Finally decided after all these years to rejoin this crazy world on the Xbox side this time (maybe now I won't have lag and other issues). And I must say I'm surprised to see all the new changes the game has undergone both visually and gameplay wise. But the one thing I see that hasn't changed is the crazy prices in the broker let me tell you that place has always been money hungry pit 🙄. Once again thanks for giving me all the helpful information let's see if this old vet still has what it takes to play and maybe rekindle that old spark.
I discovered this video on my Home Screen and this video guide was so fluent and easy to understand. I am now waiting for my download of DCUO to complete so I can play. Good video I give A like and subscribed!
I haven't played since i was like 12. Im 26 now, thanks, this really is helpful since i just started and reached level 9 Everything is so fresh and so much new content!
Been playing as f2p for many years, and only just now coming back to discover how much more content is available for free players these days, so this video is coming in handy even for those with some small amount of experience.
If everyone made content this thorough and well articulated for the games they play there would be a lot less confusion in general. I no-lifed this game for a long time and took a long, long break and finding this video made it super easy to seemlessly kind of slide back into my grove. This is super well done man. Thank you for the attention to detail and hard work you put it into it.
I haven't played since the skill point over haul back in like 2017 or so. I've always wanted to get a style set as well and this video helped point me in the right direction. I've had such a hard time getting up my CR before the episodes went free for all.
As a fan of City Of Heroes I've been passively waiting for the next best thing. I played this game about years ago now and I am thinking of getting back into it. You're explanation was awesome! I am downloading it now. Thanks!!
I started playing again after 10yrs. I then went through a struggle and discontinued my internet to cut down down on bills, after about a year I got that internet back up. Now I’m at it again. This game is a lot of fun but can be confusing as hell. 10yrs ago I never even beat the game. But now I’m hooked! Still don’t understand the whole thing about quarks & time capsules but it sounds important. I’ve been selling my time capsules man! 😤
I hope the beginning and tutorial won’t be too hard to beat like it was when I first started playing on Braniac’s ship back in 2014. I now have the free version on my switch.
Think I said this before but good video dude for the new player it does give them all kinds of information that would be very hard to figure out on their own but it also in a way gives them some advanced information they’re not going to understand until they get there
Hey man pointer on sharing with other characters as you pointed out already our inventories in our banks and even the shared bank it’s always gonna be full if you need to give something to another character rather than put it in the shared bank just go ahead and send it to the other character in an email and then it won’t be taking up any inventory space until they actually except the item and you can send five items at a time can’t send cash anymore do your own characters but you can still send items
This was so helpful. Im a constantly returning player but I've never really gotten into the game. Came back to CR 63 and forgot how to even play the game. This video helped me a lot.
I love Comics love this game but really confused for years on what to do I only play by myself I would love to play with you so you can show me the right way to do it mostly the weekends when my grandson not here
I've returned to the game after years of not being online. I honestly need to know if a whole lot has changed in the time i've been gone, hence why I came to your video Eddy. I appreciate the video as always. (leaving this comment mid-video)
Hey man! Welcome back. Yup a lot has changed. Take a look at this video, this should answer all your questions. 😊 ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Faa-_QENBs8.html
I haven’t played this game in about 4 years, they added so many things that weren’t there before. Might join back, if I can find my old account that is XD.
Reallt enjoying this on Nintendo switch oled! Just started playing an I too late? Was looking for mmorpg on switch this seem to be the best current one
Hey Eddie it occurs to me that your alternate characters might also be a good way to store items you don’t have space for I’m not sure how long email can go unaccepted But it occurs to me that you can mail five items at a time to anyone so if you don’t have space in your shared area to do it you can just mail them to another character on your account and then we were in the mail and tell you need them
Yeah I had a 255 skip character from a while back and I asked Bentley skipped him to 310 last week and I am now in the process of building a new character almost exactly like that character to go back and do all the content which will also get me a lot of those fees that I miss but there’s the other side of it is when you skip ahead like that completes a whole bunch of contact for you and you can’t go back and do it it’s not listed anymore you can just go back and do it anyway and so you miss a lot of stuff and since I haven’t play the game for years exam logging in that one time and skipping a character I had I wanted to go back right from the start and play through it all the 1 to 30 part and actually Learn the game
which power "Light " based type is a good substitute for free play players that have no access to either two lantern ring light powers, quantum, or atomic? I am asking this because I am creating a hypothetical character that would have been the ultimate beneficiary to ending the crisis war more quickly if he were to exist in the "Crisis on Infinite Earths" Three-Parter special; So is Gadget energy more powerful against the shadow demons than the fire power? Or does Fire count as a light power for the shadow demons to fear?
I have several tunes that I keep it lower level intentionally, this tune I’m on now it’s too big to go to Gas metal DC and convert her coin to source Mark. Is there a way to do this anymore since the teleporter system of the watchtower has been abandoned. Thank you bro.
I'm coming back after first playing in 2018 and getting overwhelmed by the amount of vendors in the main hub areas. I just hit 30 on the character I'm playing and wonder what exactly I should be working on next. I have artifacts but need catalysts to get them past 40 and also as I understand it I'll need better gear to raise my CR. Considering just how many story episodes there are and the number of things to do, I just don't know where to start. This is on Xbox, villain side if that matters.
Exactly it’s like handing civilian a loaded MP five and telling them to get all go out and use it appropriately do you have in your ear handing a person weigh overpowered character compared to what they are used to I’m expecting him to understand it it’s it’s not a great process for new people want to know the game and you want to create a new alternate that is one thing
Because they don't wana lose their precious game... they'll now give you for free what they've been charging ppl who have been playing the game for years... I could go in loool
Great vid!!! Should you open boxes that have a min max level like cybernetic Sorceresss SShoulderguards box? Should I wait till im a higher level currently level 20.
Question. Is gear even important? Since everyone just gets scaled to appropriate CR and stats for a run, does Role specific gear matter? Are the only things that matter Artifacts and sp?
Yes. For older content, your CR does get scaled but in end-game content (Last 3 DLC's). You need gear to play and successfully complete. Especially, Elite raids/alerts. Also, if you won't have gear, you won't get your combat rating up, means you won't be able to que for content because its all based on combat rating. =)
Yeah I just want free to play this I mean legendary membership this weekend so that I can get the extra storage space the replay badges and access to all of the superpowers I’m not sure what else and there that I’ll find useful but mostly I wanted all the superpowers
This is guaranteed to be paid to win. You must know that going in if you want to be a DPS if you care about scores and boards you're going to be paying a lot of money. Because 120 artifacts you're not going to cut it you're going to be going against people with 200s and full leakier that make this a job. So if you don't want to spend a lot of money and you're okay with not being on the top the game is good a really good game. But if you're pocket is not full this game will be very frustrating
First, want to thank you for all your hard work that went into this video. I found your channel yesterday and this beginner guide is perfect for a new player . I decided to download and give DCUO a chance for the first time. I was thinking either Electricity or Celestial. I know I have to be dps early game and that is fine but my goal is to be a healer. My question to you is, as someone who has never played this game and I use a XBox controller to play games. I am wanting to use this toon until end game, not making another toon until I learn the game mechanics and stuff. Which of the 2 powers I mentioned is fun, easy, and be able to hold my own. I don't want to spend hours and hours, then realize I picked something that is to hard to master, lol well use good and have fun. I hope I made sense. Any help or suggestion would be greatly helpful.
Thank you for your kind words. Out of these two, I would suggest you go for Electricity. Celestial has combo system and can get confusing for new player. I just uploaded Electricity healer video. You can check that out. Also, I have previously done Celestial healer, Celestial dps and Electricity Dps videos. Go through them and see what suits you. But my vote would be Electricity 😊 Goodluck. Let me know if you have any other questions.
So two types of dps. Might dps if you are gonna use your superpowers. Precision dps if you are gonna use weapons. Restoration only if you are gonna be in healer (in healer role). Before level 30 you don't have to worry about these things though.
I would love to play but they banned my Account for Chargeback and i dont even know why. Used to pay via Paypal but quit my Subscription. Could that be the reason?
Hi! Yes that happened to me once too. Sometimes, bank blocks the transactions because most of the gaming sites comes under suspicious activity. Just open a ticket with DC Universe Online Help after you have cleared with your bank that this game is safe and you want to do monthly subscription. DCUO Help should get you your account bank once the payment goes through. Good luck =)
Good video dude I’m kind of looking around to pick something back up email from long ago and I’m looking to DC you oh and you are alleviated a lot of my concerns it sounds like a lot of the original gating that lead to our required purchases to play the game is gone like the fact that you can play all the Contant for free it used to be able to do that also I remember powering your base was very difficult unless you had a membership because your currency was cabinet like 2000 and it took a lot more than that the power rubbed your base seems like anything you earned over 2000 went into escrow so your purchases couldn’t be more than 2000 at a time
you just gotta make a onetime purchase of 5 or more to get premium permanetly and get unlimited money more inventory the abilty to trade items actually use chat and able to put 5 things on the broker
Do they have an lfg type thing for the game? I remember playing it way back but i hated that i had no one to play it with since all of my friends werent into the game lol
Agree with 90%, but i wish ppl would stop promoting sp so much. If i had to follow ur advice on sp i would have quit the game within my first month of playing, and i have been playing on and off for 10 years. Or i would never use a cr skip bc I’m sill at 235 sp and am not planning to ever grind to 500+. I have used multiple cr skips and I’m doing just fine in normal content. This isn’t the dcuo we knew 5-10 years ago, when everything was somewhat elite. With the normal content now, cr skip is not a problem at all even for 0 sp, as it will give close to 100 anyways. If i were to start a new toon now and grind to end game, i could easily reach it within a week and less than 50sp.
I kind of agree with what you said but you answered your question yourself. Since you can reach the end game within a week, that means there is nothing else to do. So grinding for SP is what makes this game interesting. Trying to achieve the difficult feats, trying different strategies with friends and league mates. This is what this MMO is all about. Also, in my opinion, anything from 400-450SP is more than enough since you can get the stats you need for DPSing, Trolling or even healing. But for Tank, more the better. But yeah, if you are a casual player, you definitely don't need SP since you won't be playing the Elite content or attempting difficult feats anyways. So I agree with you there ;)
@@iEddyGaming being a casual player doesn’t mean i can’t play elite content. I can successfully complete any content in game with 200 sp and the right team with other players with 150-250 sp. if we all have arts 160+, that’s gonna make it much easier for us than having 600 sp. u say that’s what dcuo is all about, but again ur talking for players who want to become elite. If I’m not mistaken the elite players represent the clear minority in dcuo. There’s plenty to do for me after reaching end game. The reason why I’m able to still play after 10 years is having multiple toons. If we were limited to 1 toon, I’d agree with u and quit the game, bc i can’t stand grinding sp. having 13 toons in end game, soon to be 15, gives me enough to do so i never have to work on sp if I don’t want to. I prefer playing the same mission 15 times with a different power or role every time, than to play 15 different missions with the same power just to look for sp
I hear you. That's where me and you are different. I prefer playing one toon and 15 different missions. I cannot do same mission more than twice, it gets boring for me. And I am not saying that you are wrong or I am wrong. I know many people who share your playing style. As long as your enjoying game, its all good. That's what matters. You do you, i will do me. 😉 In the end, we are all gamers. Safe.
@@iEddyGaming I’m not talking about right and wrong either. My point here is that you made this video for new players, but I’m afraid you might scare off potential new casual players like me. I love the game and my only fear is that the game population goes down. So in a video for new players i would have preferred arguments for all types of players to attract them all to come play with us
@@raph1534 Like many things the video is open to interpretation - Let players watch the video and form their own opinions. Just because your approach worked does not mean it will for others.
Bored of fire superspeed. Any recommendations on a new dps char thats going to be up in the charts? Any suggestions that don't include gadgets is fine. Looking to use flight as well
Thank you for the guide, this helped a lot. I have a couple of questions, I'm new to the game (ofc) and I've just reached lvl cap, now I understand that I have to increase my CR by doing activities on the On Duty tab, the rewards always give you higher CR? I also read that almost every vendor is involved around Source Marks, but getting them aside from activities on the On Duty tab, I was told that I can do daily missions, how do I access/identify them? Thanks in advanced.
Hi Jhordi! So after level 30, you will be increasing you combat rating DLC by DLC. The rewards from each relative instance won't always increase your CR. As stated in the video, if the gear piece shows green stats, that means it will increase your stats and contribute towards increasing CR. If the gear piece has red stats, that means its worse than what you are wearing right now. Yes, there are dailies and weekly missions in open world, based on the DLC. 99% game will tell you where to go and how to access those open world areas. You can also go to your Journal and see the highest level mission it has to offer, track it and see where it tells you to go. Going to House of legends and accessing the tall tower in the middle will take you to the open world areas. Upon reaching open world, you will find NPCs standing around with a exclamation mark on their heads. Talk to them, collect your missions and finish the mission. Talk to them again after you are done and it will give you marks and rewards.
I can attest to that I actually played the game for a while before but recently I downloaded it and logged in created new character used to the cause everybody who has I think level 40 or above character gets a free skip all the way I think the 298 or something anyway you get a gigantic leap you get all this awesome gear stuff better than anything I’ve ever had before and then I was completely fucking lost no idea what to do or where to go because it’s get me you know too far ahead it’s not worth using those skip tokens and less Shira veteran player who already knows what they’re doing and even then it’s probably not worth it for the reasons you just outline but you’re missing out on a lot of the points and not the resulting skill points
Yes but there are only a few missions you can play as them. These missions are knows as Legends PvE. These missions have nothing to do with actual game progress but just kind of side missions to get extra skill points. 😊
Dude, how can I make more money? Most of the items I want are at the broker and the guys sell it very expensive, most of the items are priced in the millions, this is absurd, how can I get more money to buy the items?
What they should do is add an update where we can live our lives as our civilian identities doing normal things and activities. And when we see crime happening you can change into your alter in ego and fight cringe
You can "kind of" do that with armories. One armory as full civilian clothing and all. Then another armory for your superhero/alter ego. Just switch between those and play pretend 😁
@@iEddyGaming Yeah but I mean doing normal activities that don't have to do with super hero stuff. Like going to a dance club with other players, work a job (in the form of a series of mini games) go to a theme park - Oh, it could be Six Flags, decorate our apartments with stuff we buy from the in game store or win in raids - we could watch entire episodes of Batman and Superman the Animated Series' on our in game TV's, or go watch entire DC animated movies in an in-game movie theater or the Watchtower with other players. This could make it a functioning Metaverse. But the game's engine is so old it unfortunately might not be able to accommodate all that.
