This is by far the best into to the Rev1 controller I have watch yet. It not only giving a simple breakdown of the controller but inside info for so many of the functions it does, no one has gone this in-depth. Thank you for breaking it down. I have the Rev1 as a newbie and watching this I have a clearer understanding.
I just picked one up today, plus I just got a Serato DJ Pro 30 day trial which I plan on just getting it as I learn it. I may just go and get the suite version.
For a while I've been considering adding some turntablism to my music but have been really torn between my options. I am a sucker for the tactile and hands on feel of a traditional analog setup but the size, weight and price are off-putting. I may have to start off with the practicality of a digital setup like this and honestly, this is the most attractive digital setup for what I'm looking for by far. This could possibly end up being in my possession at some point. Fantastic work with this product!
Yes you can! You can upgrade to Serato DJ Pro by purchasing a license that activates the software when you use Serato DJ Lite controllers like the DDJ-REV1.

It would be great if I could get some sound out of mu brand spanking new DJ-Rev1 (uses with Serato DJ Lite on MacBook Air, and most recent version of MacOS) Nothing like putting together the deck/laptop holder, setting up everything on my desk, only to see Serato playing music, the jog wheels doing their thing, but so sound in headphones or from laptop speakers.
Like your video and I think you hit the all right spots, have you notice the ground or hummm noise when you plug the USB coming from your laptop if your master lever is set to 3 o’clock? Doing some research I got told that that noise is ‘cause because there is no external power supply?
The DDJ-REV1 is the official follow up to the DDJ-SB3. Here are some considerations when deciding. - The DDJ-SB3 has a club-style layout which match using CDJs. - The DDJ-REV1 has a battle-style layout which match using turntables. - The jog wheels on the DDJ-REV1 are larger and are higher resolution. - The DDJ-SB3 has a classic Serato-controller-style effects control section. - The DDJ-REV1 has a battle mixer style lever toggle to control Serato FX. - The DDJ-SB3 has Pad Scratch which helps beginners learn jog wheel scratch movements. - The DDJ-REV1 has Tracking Scratch which helps beginners learn crossfader cut patterns. - The DDJ-REV1 has Scratch Bank, SB3 does not. - The DDJ-REV1 has microphone channel fed back to the interface which is great for streaming on one computer. How do I control volume sampler on Pioneer Rev 1 on the mixer/ actual hardware not on the computer?… if there’s no option other than on the computer screen… then how to midimap it on the hardware/ mixer (the best option possible/ knob or button, please) thanks 🙏 Just got my unit on Thursday.
On the DDJ-REV1, there is not a dedicated sampler volume control. If you wish to map it, you first must upgrade to Serato DJ Pro which allows MIDI mapping. Once you are using Pro, you can remap it to any knob who's native function you won't be using.
25 year vinal dj..ya sold me on my first interface! Ordered mine right away..and had a reloop beatpad2 on hold just as this dropped.. im hoping this was not a mistake as there are no inputs or xlr outputs. Bus powered was excellent desicion.! So will this be available to be mapped out in algoriddim or dj player pro like your other controllers!? Also curious as to what kind of a fader is in this? I'm hoping since you went with a battle mixer set up the crossfader should be durable? What kind? We really ware these fader down with scratching! Thanks for your time.
Hello Juan, the fader quality matches the same ones found on all our entry-level DJ gear. It's not same as what's on our professional gear like the DDJ-REV7, but as many have demonstrated, is definitely capable of applying advanced scratch techniques.
Serato software doesn't allow the pad modes to be changed or rearranged. However, by upgrading to Serato DJ Pro, you actually gain Beat Jump and Roll Loop pad modes which are not available in Serato DJ Lite.
@@PioneerDJUSA that's too bad doesn't seem like there's really much of a point to upgrade to Serato DJ Pro with this controller.... too many gimmicky pad modes for "beginners"... it would be great if it had the pad modes that other serato controllers/djm s9/7/11 have or be able to remap unwanted pad modes...

Officially, the DDJ-REV1 run natively with Serato DJ Lite. It also allows you the option to upgrade to Serato DJ Pro. Virtual DJ has been known to officially and unofficially support Pioneer DJ controllers and they list all the currently supported hardware on their website.
While it isn’t official supported, Virtual DJ has been known to create mappings for Pioneer DJ products. Supported products are listed on their website.
It’s an entry level DJ controller that replaces the DDJ-SB3. It runs on Serato DJ Lite but can be upgraded to Serato DJ Pro with the purchase or subscription to a license.
Purchased one of these today im so disappointed. Connected to mid 2012 Mac runnin High Sierra 10.13. No communication with Serato lite or pro smh....supposed to be plug & play no drivers needed

@@PioneerDJUSA this device didnt work with high sierra and the serato specific to that os....1.9...i got sound only...no other functions....upgraded my mac to 10.14 mojave...which allowed install of newer serato lite...now the controller had functions...but absolutely no sound wtf... im thinkin to use this you need most recent updated mac & serato...os catalina and up perhaps....
That is because the version that came out that supports the DDJ-REV1 was long after the version that worked on High Sierra, which was no longer a supported operating system when the REV1 was released.
