[DDO] Which Crossbow Reigns Supreme? 

i tend towards the 18rogue/2arty approach, taking the arty levels at 2 & 3 - not only is the rune arm useful but you get rapid reload for free, magical training which grants SP, echoes of power & 5% crit chance on spells for powering a number of useful epic abilities & you can use a bunch of handy buffing wands with 100% success through the levelling process before your UMD is high enough, as well as being able to take metamagics - not much use in heroics admittedly, but again, in epics not having to worry about a cocoon being interrupted can be a lifesaver. Great xbow is usually my favourite over repeaters or dual non repeaters once i get to level 12+ thanks to the tier 5 enhancements - yeah inquisitive is more powerful overall, but it's just really satisfying seeing the huge numbers from gxb on a crit, especially once you're running in epic with fury destiny or the new hunt's end ability from shiradi - pin them first, then follow up with that 400% damage +16 threat boosted shot, it's great fun. The no-save knockdown on vorpal is pretty handy too & gxbs get that as standard rather than having to wait until level 20 as inquisitive.

Just play rogue inquis. those auto diplomacy(if trained while leveling+item) will force ur full sneak dmg on all enemies around you, its nuts.

I joined this game in spring 2010 and was absolutely fascinated by it, haven't played in a year may come back this weekend!

Two things about the great xbow [I think] you missed that I like are: 1) Vorpal hits knock things down and since the great xbow can get a vorpal on 19 or 20 with the Mechanic tier 5 Enhancement, Sniper, roughly 1 out of 10 hits should be knocking things down. Add in Double-Shot and Improved Precision, and you could be knocking a lot of mobs down. 2) Great xbows have a lot of punch for penetrating damage reduction. The benefits of speed versus damage scales depending on the damage to damage reduction ratio. However, for example, a mob with 10/Piercing being hit 20 times with 12 damage each hit is doing 40 damage total ((12 - 10) x 20 = 40), while the same damage reduction being hit only 10 times by 20 damage is doing 100 damage total ((20 - 10) x 10 = 100). Obviously, if the damage increases or damage reduction decreases, that 60-point (100 vs. 40) difference shrinks.

What about 4 arti for Endless Fusilade?

Had a question about your Strimtom's Falcon Striker - R10 Monk build, I was looking over your gear list and saw that the armor that you are using is (Wildcard) is light armor? Was wondering if you can explain how that works with a pure 20 monk build?

I just came back to ddo after years of not playing and my main is on his third life (if i recall correctly) and is a lvl 5 ftr1/rog2/arti2 with a great crossbow and I have no clue what i was trying to do with him

What about a Pally 15, Arti 4, fighter 1. Illusionist for Charisma to hit/dam. Then Pally for Divine Might to boost hit/dam, Holy Sword, healing, saves and smite . . . or you could put some enh points into Sacred defender to be more tanky. Arti for Endless Fusilade . . . enough said. Fighter for a feat and more action boosts. Since so often quests succeed or fail because of a lack of burst DPS or survivability (in my experience) a toon like this has most of that covered. Maxed main stat for hit/dam/healing/saves, medium armor and ranged safety along with ease of play. I know a lot of xbow players have a hate for fusilade and that's a shame. I would say that if you run with a solid tank or a full group then the rogue with mega sneak attack really shines. Thanks for the video.

New to this still!! I was wondering about Crossbow vs. Repeater Crossbows. Testing low level Builds Arti/Paladin/Cleric (3,1,1 wanted more melee plus self heal).Literally just built a Arti/Bard (just because I love Bards with repeating Crossbows!!)..I'm in it for fun and solo

I am making 12 rogue / 6 ranger / 2 arti GXB Mechanik. 6 ranger to get Snipe and a couple of free perks, and 2 arti for spells and rune arm. :3

Just curious, honestly, what if you took Inquisitive, but skipped out specifically on Dual Shooter? Mixed it with mechanic to get the full buffs from before (the ones that are lessened by dual shooting) but just not take dual shooting? Would it be worth it with all the ranged alacrity you still get from Inquisitive?

Hmm, did you try dropping one crit multiplier taking 6 fighter to get 3rd kensi core, and 4 arti for endless fuselage? for testing?

I have this exact build (except i'm halfling), I made 4-5 years ago before leaving the game and now i'm considering returning with the cool free stuff they are giving these months ( I remember testing 18 rogue/ 2 arti vs 20 rogue at that time with TF greatcrossbow and i preferred 20 rogue). Thanks for the info, so basically they push us to get inquisitor just like they did with harper tree 5 years ago hehe. I see you don't have points on assasin tree but if i still remember there are some good things there like killer and sneak dmg. Another question i have is about epic destinies: I remember Divine crusader was my favourite with capstone doubleshot and some defenses, also LD for soloing with master blitz, but what is your favourite epic destiny for this build, now i see some people using fury of the wild or shadowdancer or shiradi but not very sold on that.

Best inquisitor that needs to do 4 things (dps, cc, traps and off heals?) 1 FS, 2, bard, 3 cleric, 4, alchemist?

I was expecting actual xbows in game. I'm using an arballister on my arti.

I use great crossbow for initial sneak attack or using IPS, Dual weild heavy crossbows for single target.

So whats better repeating or great crossbow?

Thanks for another helpful video! I'm playing an 8/6/6 arti/rogue/fighter great crossbow build and having some fun with it. Your point is very well taken, though, that it just FEELS noticeably slower than a 10/6/4 ranger/rogue/arti build in inquisitive using light crossbows. Granted, it's not a straight-up comparison, but... Anyway, I had a question for you (or any experienced inquisitive player): On an inquisitive build at cap, would dual-wielding heavy crossbows be better than using light crossbows? I'm guessing it would be slower but might allow more base damage to get through the protections that higher level mobs have. (Earlier on, the procs on each hit tended to favor attack speed, but I notice the inquisitive getting lower numbers as the quest level increases.) Any help? Thanks!

I recenty played the 18/2arti great crossbow split recently, and it doesnt feel inferior to inquisitive honestly. Also it has CC with the 19-20 hit

Currently as a great crossbow divine artlillery using rogue, pure, I'm out damaging and out trapping a cookie cutter build warlock and inquistor. bout 900-1000 damage on a non-crit/sneak attack 4000-5000 on a crit/sneak attack 26 sneak attack die I'm a little squishy, at 400 health at level 22 ((only 26 con)) 56 int 95 disable 105 search I do kinda hate that almost everyone on my server is using inquistor, it sucks variaty out of lfms, and I hate having to compete with an inquistor to trap, when 9/10 blow the box, and I get a critical success on a 1
