1:00 wrong, ddr4 goes up to 32 gigs per stick. Someone needs to do more research or actually build a pc from scratch maybe.

There is no color code for the PCB. You can get any Color with any DDR Version.

Already got the parts for a DDR5 build coming this week; 7700x/rx6600/16gb @5600mhz I don't expect much in terms of a performance disparity with the upgrade but i hate hows their 0 backwards compatability for DDR4, pricing aside.

rx6600 is a entry level gpu which can only game on 90fps on most games in 1080p, better buy a 7600xt

If you spent that much on the cpu, why not pair it with a 7800xt or 7700xt? I know money doesn't grow on trees but the 6600 is wayyy too weak

Rate my new build? I'm trying to get back into gaming and I think a PC is a better option for me. Ryzen 7800 x3d G.Skil x5 series ddr 5 2 16gb ram Asus 650 etuf am5 atx motherboard 7900 xt 20 gb ddr6 gpu Wd-black sn850 x 2tb I still need to fill in the rest but I'm at 1533 after tax and 5% military discount through microcenter

Well obviously ddr5 is better, but it's also expensive.

For trading using my gaming laptop should I upgrade to a 32g ddr4 or ddr5, or a 64g ddr4 or 64g ddr5

32GB sounds about right.

DDR5 is not even that expensive. I bought 32gb of g.skill trident z for $90

As far as DDR4 VS DDR5, what would you prefer? I’m looking to buy a gaming laptop and the one I’m looking at is DDR5

@@StuddrattWhy would you get DDR4? DDR5 is literally the newer, better version

@@StuddrattDDR4 and DDR5 memory types cater to different needs based on their distinct features. DDR4 is known for its lower latency at lower speeds and can be a cost-effective choice for those who do not require the highest level of memory performance. This is particularly true if you can achieve speeds of 4000+ MHz. On the other hand, DDR5 offers higher clock speeds and greater bandwidth, beneficial for applications like music and video editing, computational modeling and simulations, gaming (especially when VRAM is lower than 8GB), big data, IT, and 3D rendering. Though it may have slightly higher latency, DDR5 generally provides improved performance in bandwidth-intensive applications. The choice between DDR4 and DDR5 may also depend on factors like price and the extent of upgrading to a newer gen. If cost is a concern and your current setup efficiently supports DDR4, it might be wise to continue using DDR4. However, for those aiming to future-proof their systems or engage in highly demanding tasks, investing in DDR5 could be advantageous, despite its current developmental stage and associated costs. As DDR5 technology matures, we can expect further enhancements in speed and efficiency. Personally, I prefer to wait a while after a new generation of technology is released to allow any initial issues to be resolved and for more cost-effective options to emerge. This strategy has served me well, as even my 10-year-old machines continue to perform adequately for my needs. With technology, sometimes less can indeed be more, depending on your specific requirements and usage patterns. For instance, I make music and use DSP-intensive applications, game at maximum settings, and simultaneously manage over 10 other tasks without any issues in my setup with a 5900x and 6900xt, complemented by 128GB of dual-rank Pinnacle DDR4 at 3600MHz (sure not 4000+ but, the speed difference is negligible for high capacities.)

Building new= Go with DDR5 components to future proof your system , it’s better to have the hardware ready for future needs , rather then having a system 3 years from being bare minimum… Anytime you have to convert your hardware and power supplies it becomes much more complicated with the moving parts . Good luck !
