@☁POPULATION-_-420🌿 i think it will be a better zombie game. Much more narrow in scope and focused. Gotta figure too they pretty much completely restarted development after the project was handed off between devs. I personally like dead island 1 way more than dying light 2 because DL2 was too much like a ubisoft game in that it is too big of a game with too little focus on the undead instead focusing on humans. It's a decent game but feels rough to me and isn't a great zombie game. Dead island is that classic zombie game I've been craving channeling more of a zombieland or shaun of the dead vibe.
As long as they still have the chapter select option so that you can start playing from any point in the story at any time no matter what level as long as you've completed it
After 10 years development.. Hearing about the "F.LE.S.H."system.. I would expect guts and limbs after a grenade explodes.. 👀... I've seen 3 major explosions.. No guts or limbs 😔
Never thought I would be relieved to hear “no open world, no ethical choices, and no deep story about the human experience”. At this point I just want a video game, and this looks like the most video game video game that has ever video gamed.
No open world means the existing area gets developed with detail rather than two halfs of the fucking map being completely empty No ethicsl choice means you wont have divergences in the story that leads to one having the best ending and one were personal opinion of devs made it the worst, No shit about humans means we dont have to deal with bitches taking the zombie out of zombie game Perfect
@@molassesman4066 games can pull of multiple endings most just suck at doing it look at dying light the following,Black ops2 good example of multiple endings and choices
I feel like linear games get so much bad stuff out on there name where some games I feel like it could work which some games it has. Instead of a open world game where some parts of the map is seriously nothing but grass at least in this game we can have more stuff to do
No Crossplay, non open world linear story, 15-20 hour story including all side missions, no day and night cycle, 4 player lobbies dropped down to 3 players and its $70. Im waiting till it's on game pass dawg I'm not paying $70 for this. Im sure the game is going to phenomenal but the absence of what everyone wanted makes it about 6-7/10 IN MY OPINION.
I'm okay with areas being more compact, it's been said many times before but open world fatigue has been real over the past few years. From other previews the combat also seems enjoyable and the characters are unique enough so since I think this will be my first major purchase this year.
@@matf6661 both of you sound delusional... who likes getting their freedom taken away and somehow happy about it... open world fatigue is the dumbest shit I've heard
@@LoganTheWizzard that is not open worlds if they're open world then so is borderlands and its not and despite being relatively big the maps were extremely linear even the resort the most litteral definition or tl;dr of an open world if you will is that you can go anywhere without having to suffer a loading screen and you can't and like i said the dead island games were even extremely linear when it came to their maps all things considering
@@ShitOwl I mean, It's hard to argue Dead Island 1 wasn't open-world. The resort consisted of multiple areas that could be travelled between freely. The beachside, the hotel, the lifeguard station, the bungalows, the service areas, the wooded cliffs, the gas stations and bunkers. It had three open-world sections that don't progress in a linear fashion in and of themselves like Borderland guides the player in a straight line. If you're arguing Dead Island wasn't open-world then neither is Dying Light because it too has different maps. The areas of Dead Island can be explored as you wish, with a single loading screen between environments, which is also present in Skyrim, Fallout which are definitely open world. Each area has quests that can be done in any order, as is the case in the Bethesda open worlds. Just because there are three distinct environments separated due to hardware limitations, doesn't necessarily mean older games limited in this way aren't open.
@@Voltraluxx i never said dying light was open world nor is it because its split up in to 2 sections the slums and the city as far as i remember anyways im not reading all that my comment says it all its not open world and i see no reason to get so emotional or riled up about it if anything open worlds are a joke nowadays
I'm really hoping this game has a plethora of weapons to use. I know there's a mod system etc, but I'm really hoping there a bunch of goofy or cool weapons to add to replay ability
this game is basically looks like a tech demo with the flesh/skeleton stuff plus nice graphics . But thats it in pov . Doubt that there will be too much weapon in the game ... Melee weapons mostly ... few pew pew . I also doubt that they took the time to add too much animations as all weapons would need different hq animations ...
@Theora Yeah that's what bothers me, the game doesn't have the "Gameplay", looks kinda slow and clunky. I know the game it's more about killing zombies with a bunch of different customized weapons, but they don't even have specific animations and stuff, from what I've seen animations and effects are just copied/pasted.
@Bzake it turned me down when I realized that there were barely gear customization items at all unlike odyssey. The world is massive, but honestly feels a drag to get around.
They should have kept it at $54 at launch. The $70 at launch is steep. $90 Canadian even as a fan of the series I'll wait for a price drop. $60 is my limit.
You should always wait nowadays to buy a game anyways. Chances are you’re going to get a better experience than the beta testers that buy the game day 1.
i pre-ordered Deluxe Saints Row and was very dissapointed in it, i pre-ordered Gotham Knights the deluxe edition and am dissapointed since they are not gonna add any future content. i will wait for reviews from now on
Lowkey the open world is what made the others so good. If you had to do a dungeon to get a schematic, you had to run all the way there, or drive. And then run through a horde to get to the building. I just hope it has the same vibe of actually feeling overwhelmed sometimes
Also, I'm sure the game has a different feel to it after all, it wasn't designed by the original designer and programmers. If I still have an income after a year, I'll definitely pick a copy up for $20 - $30. I hope the world doesn't collapse by then, we may be facing our own desperate looter zombies in reality. 💀
And if it doesn't go on sale... Then what.... People need to stop making crazy expectations.... I kept my expectations low I'm not even disappointed....
@@TreyeParker then I just won’t buy it. I like video games but I don’t NEED them and I have enough self control to put my foot down and say no to ridiculous game prices. Not to mention that these games nowadays are usually unfinished, require dlc’s, micro transactions, downgraded graphics from what trailers advertise etc. If your fine with it that’s cool you do you but just know that you and gamers like you are sending the clear message that they can keep doing this (and they will) . Only a matter of time before it’s $80.
This feels like a Night of the Comet type take on a zombie movie. B movie fun through and through, at least there will be no mistaking this for something heartfelt and ernest...
I hope theres a photo mode - or even a playback mode of last 20 seconds just to rewind, then take a snap - of a leg - getting snapped. If not - get this in there devs !
The fact that this is next GEN and looks amazing and supposedly they fixed a lot more stuff and made the graphics even better looking than what they’re showing the videos right now makes me happy
A bit sad to hear that there are no day/night cycle. The graphics of the game is awesome and it would be cool to see a time change. Also I hope that the game won't be too linear.
Same, I mean if you want to play a linear zombie game world War Z exists or even better L4D. But I think this game would do way better if it was open world, since it's not something I know I'll return to later I feel like I could just wait till it goes on sale. Really thought after all this time we were going to get an dense open world compact like dying light 2 but with more emphasis on gore and guns. The procedural gore would've sold the deal on this if it looked good through the gameplay, hopefully it does on release, but damn, all this time and we get a 20 hour campaign with mediocre gore and cartoon fire. People complain about long campaigns but this game would've been a great one,, or even a short 20 hour campaign with over 40+ hours in open world activities. Hoping this game releases with a bang and makes me eat my words.
I'd rather a compact area that's full of stuff to do than an open world that is just full of collectibles and sparse. The only game where a sparse open world truly works (that comes to mind) is RDR as the atmosphere demands it.
rockstar is one of the only devs that come to mind when I try to think of actual super detailed completely open world games. red dead and gta are both amazing and they didn't have to compact them to put as much detail as they did in it.
@@PazuzuDeamon4horsemen ok but linear but open levels will allow for better graphics and framerate as well as more focused gameplay and design see DI1 for example as the resort is an amazing location which can be explored for hours
5 differant characters with different play styles, 20 hour campaign with other missions after you beat it, awesome gore and future content...its DEFS worth a buy
I’m actually sick of hearing people say “smaller is better”. That’s not the case when the areas are reduced from the open hubs that are in Dead Island 1 to a few streets or corridors that are divided with loading screens in Dead Island 2. The game doesn’t have to be a massive open world but at least try to be better than the first game. Dead Island 2 just seems like a step backwards but with an improved gore system and better graphics. Part of the fun in the first game was running around the streets and buildings that were overrun with the undead.
It looks like it's gonna get boring real fast and be a bargain bin title before you know it. Also hate how ammo is scarce and you can no longer drive vehicles.
This game had only been in development for a year four years ago. The game hasn’t been in constant development between the different devs. It’s more a case that different devs all tried to make their own games all titled Dead Island 2 while all the previous ones got cancelled. In this Case Dambuster built this version from scratch starting when they were given the project in 2018. It’s similar to Human Head Studios and Arkane where Human Head were working on a new game in the Prey IP before it was cancelled and then Arkane ended up making Prey (2016) which had no real ties to what Human Head had been doing.
The fact it's not open world has my interest. I was worried it was going to be another open world with a map full of pointless things to do to add hours.
@Sneef The environment this video showed makes it feel like old RE games, very compact and detailed but no real replay ability, because mobs will always be in the same exact spot. It'll scratch the itch for some but others it might feel too bottlenecked. course open world mobs can be in the same spot but they usually randomize it a little. All in all just going to wait for a video to be released for it, too many games these days ask for $70+ and it looks great but very barebones, empty and short. Dead island 2 might be none of that, or it could be all of it only time will tell.
Do I need to beat dead island 1 before playing this? Or if I read it is that fine? I just dont have enough time to beat it before friday but if I have to I can delay it a week or so
It’s ridiculous how the German version is kind of censored again… but stupidly… you can dismember the zombies while they’re “alive” but when they’re dead, dead you can’t dismember them anymore 😅
@@bbqdsushi2585 no shit Sherlock. It’s still a dumb thing to do… I mean they didn’t censor tlou part 2 or dead space but dying light and dead island are censored.. that’s just ridiculous.
Let’s not overhype or have massive expectations, games like anthem and Cyberpunk were good signs that we need to always be skeptical, no matter how much faith we have that it’ll be good.
It doesn’t have to mean anything gameplay wise but having a day and night with a sleep at night option wouldn’t be too bad. Just for emersion. But I don’t mind because the flesh system makes up for that.
I hope the weapons play more of a part, I completed the first one by just kicking everyone which got the job done and was far more effective than most of the weapons.
Dead Island 2 has that "Army of the Dead" Netflix movie vibe going for so yeah, I'm excited about this game and yes, Army of the Dead wasn't a banger but a guilty pleasure for me however.
Everything sounds fine minus the lack of a open world on a single huge map is disappointing imo. I don't mind big zone areas like in borderland games but if they too small and very linear then that's sucks imo. I'll probably wait for a sale instead if that's the case.
The lack of open-world exploration is definitely a con for me, but the new advanced gore system, high quality and resolution assets and environments and 10 distinct and unique districts, are enough to keep me invested in Dead Island 2. I think it'll be a different experience to Dead Island, but one most will be willing to give a chance, especially given the 10 years of time between the sequel and initial releases.
there's open world exploration lmao it's just like the first dead island. it's called semi open world, and it helps the devs put a LOT more detail into the maps. trust me, it's a really big positive.
I, and I am sure many others are very excited to play the best version of this when it releases on Steam in a year or two. Meanwhile, to the early adopters, thank you from the bottom of my heart for buying this early on EGS, funding further development/optimizations, and helping to test and bugfix what I am pretty sure will be the best entry in the franchise thusfar. You EGS folks are really awesome! I've owned the original two mainlines plus the remasters and I am thoroughly amped to play this game in a year or two, at a likely lower price, and definitely on better hardware than what I currently have!
Appreciate the video. Already Pre-ordered and no... I usually NEVER pre-order a game. A zombie apocalypse during current day vs a dystopian future... hmmm. That is where Techland made a mistake. The now legendary game, Dying Light, was also current day. And it does make a difference.
@@NiceDiggz how is it gonna be weak if the main story with 2 but without the other 50+ side quests and side activities is 20 to 22 hours yall are buggin. yet people like yall would pay 70 for last of us 2 or god of war rag both games take less time than that that was confirmed for dead island *sighs*
Is it gonna be worth the price tag though? How long until the combat gets tedious? At least the first 2 games had stories and are next to nothing to buy
For lack of better words, it kinda sounds like the current game studio just polished off the turd they were left with and are rushing out an unfinished game. I hope it’s good because I liked the first game, but I am getting Anthem vibes from this video.
Translation: Were putting out 1/4 of the game you were expecting for the same price, but at least your getting the game. I so wish Rockstar would make a zombie game using the GTA format. The way GTA plays would make an awesome zombie infested romp for us to play thru. Are you listenng Rockstar?
