@@jasoncarranco1938 i have a pc, idc if it looks good or not, i been playing the first one off and on for several years. im getting this game, but won't play it for the first three weeks or so.
I can't wait for this game. I for one like that it is a more linear game as I am so burnt out on boring fetch quests etc. The story is still 20 plus hours and plenty of side missions to do
There is a difference. The linear districts in Dead Island 2 will be much much smaller than the open districts in the first Dead Island. We know dead island wasn’t and open world game but the Resort, Slums and jungle were still fun to explore and run around. It sucks that they are making the maps smaller than the previous game.
@@CyberMonty2077 not really cuz being smaller gives them the opportunity to really make a detailed world worth exploring instead of feeling like a modern ubisoft AC map. stupid the fact that u couldnt think of that and no, the same cannot be said the other way around.
Is DI2 going to carry over the original’s analog weapon control? I still can’t believe Techland hid that option in the menus. It made merely OK combat great.
I really liked the first Dead Island and was very disappointed by Riptide. I liked the more serious tone and the survival aspect of the original game. Not sure about Dead Island 2. If there is nothing more to the game than just mindless slaying, i'm not interested. To me a great game is a package of several good ideas (atmosphere, combat, story, challenge, exploring etc.). I really fear Dead Island 2 will focus only on mashing and will be super easy.
I feel like it was semi serious with a hilarious overtone. Dying light turned me off because it got too serious, glad they are going this direction myself.
@@53Memati53 Uff, it was a long time ago when i played that. I think it was the way the game looked - the graphics were a bit different - and how it was paced, the gameplay was faster than the original. Something felt off.
Riptide was pretty much just an story expansion of the first game and it played almost identical to it. As far as the tone, Dead Island never really had a serious tone, it always was pretty cheesy. I mean the biggest meme of the original dead island was Sam B and his "who do you voodoo b****" song lol. The problem with Riptide was it was just more of the same, so if you had gotten tired of the combat in the original and was expecting something fresh with Riptide you would be disappointed. If you just wanted more DI like I did on release you would have enjoyed it.
To be honest, Dead Island 1 isn't really open world.. Sure you could go and explore areas around but it isn't beneficial to do so and you aren't met with insanely overpowered enemies and items as everything scales with progress. The world is extremely limited with boundaries you can't go outside of, so I wouldn't call it a full open world or a beneficial open world. It makes sense to scale back the open world gimmick that most games have these days so the DI2 can be focused on progression which will better control the loot, enemy balance, triggered events, tone and story elements. I'm glad they're going with this approach.
It's amazing that this launched, and it's not broken. I think the hotel and surrounding area gave the first game a facade of an open world. The city zone after was really linear. It feels on brand for the series. Dying Light and its sequel are "open world", Dead Island is a more tailored experience.
I've been confused why people keep pointing out that 2 isn't "open world" since I never considered the first game to be open world. The starting area in the first was pretty large but not very big by open world standards. As you mentioned, every zone after the starting area are all pretty linear, the jungle less so.
Dead island isn’t open world. It’s separated into large hubs. Resort, City, Jungle & prison that only open up once you progress the story…. Did you even play the first game?
The first game had a really corny B movie feel to it with the story and dialogue lol the first game wasn’t open word either, I recently replayed through it again and honestly if you look at the game world, it’s almost linear, with paths blocked off by doors that don’t open, trees, rocks, bushes, car/city scatter/clutter, etc.. plus we really haven’t seen much of the new game and I’m sure the build reviewers have been playing wasn’t the final product either. I would say it’ll play a lot like the first one, with the exception of the new added features. There’s still a level system in place, although there aren’t any skill trees, curious as to what that will affect other than weapon/enemy levels. Maybe you unlock certain skill cards at certain lvls? As for the flesh system, it adds bone/guts showing? Essentially more gore, but the first game had dismemberment and broken limbs with weapons in it already. Yeah you couldn’t punch a hole in a zombies face, but it’s still had the lower tier system. And one less co-op partner than the first game, not that big of a deal to me, although it’s sucks for a lot of people I’m sure. I just hope it has new game plus with inventory/character progress carry-over like the previous games. Super hyped all the same because I love the dead island series.
I'm pretty excited for this I've Played a little the original dead island But not enough to actually remember. So I actually picked up the original Dead island on the playstation store for $3.
I did the exact same and I convinced my friend to download it too. So I'm hoping he likes it enough to get dead Island 2 and play it with me. Hopefully it will make him also wanna play dying light 1 & 2 with me. Fingers crossed.
Dude, what do you think so far? I first played it on 360 when it came out and the co-op, world, and fun factor blew my mind. I was playing with some friends and went through every character. Hours upon hours of zombie fun 🤩 Also been replaying the Definitive Edition on PS5 to get ready for DI2!
Techland is just the best zombie fps game creator. Look at DL2. They went to the more realistic dark toned/horror zombie vibes with a fully fledged open world and parkouring. It just offers more
@@Sancsteq very true I uninstalled my copy only to install it a couple of days ago to see what was fixed. Still has janky crap looking zombies that move like there animated in stop motion! So uninstalled again don't think I'll ever touch it again now
You guys should probably play the first game before making a video comparing it to its sequel. The first game wasn't open world either; it was also split into districts separated by loading screens. To those saying the districts are smaller in DI2 and providing previewers as a source, you should keep in mind the previewers only got 5 hours of gameplay :/ How the hell did they explore each district to know they are smaller on average in such a short time? (Apparently they weren't even able to progress enough to gain access to firearms; so I highly doubt they were able to explore each and every district).
Did you guys (& gals) even play Dead Island 1? Other than the skill card system, DI 1 was nearly the same. DI2 has the "flesh system" which looks great, but DI1 had its own damage system too. DI1 had large maps to explore, just like DI2, and etc. Just because the names have changed (fury mode vs rage mode, etc) doesn't mean that they are different or that they are changes. DI2 is extremely similar to DI1, and that is a good thing. Stop trying to hide it.
@@rodplays3726 Making things better is NOT a "change", its called an "improvement." Did you even go to school? Words mean certain things. If you trade in your car for a new one, that is a change. If you take your existing car & get it painted or tuned up, then its an improvement. Do you see the difference?
Main difference - Dead island is currently available for £1.94 on the PlayStation store 🙃 and the sequel certainly won’t be 30 times as good a game to justify the price…
@@Sancsteq or I mean you could just wait 3-5 months, in that time almost all games end up 20-50% off…and sometimes they’re even bug fixed by that point as well 🙃
@@Sancsteq most people would agree with you I’m sure - I just don’t think it’s the best way to do things, it’s the same game whether you play it now or in six months…actually it will probably be a better game in six months than it is now. There’s always been a strange obsession with new games somehow being better simply because they are new, and it’s very rarely the case.
@@Sancsteq literally never experienced that. Not questioning you, I've just never had that issue. I will say they do seem to grab at you a lot more in Dying light 2... Which I would kind of expect from streets crawling with flesh eating zombies, but I get what you mean. The mechanics are a bit off at times, but that's to be expected. It isn't perfect. I've experienced jankiness in just about any game I've ever played.
Not gonna lie I played dead island and I do not remember the start. They say ireverent but lets be honest, its the millenial 'what up fellow kids' style of gaming that makes us roll our eyes these days.
Di 1 had good characters but story was laughably bad sometimes and all the bugs n glitches n games wonky physics made it unfun sometimes and riptide was the worst of the 2 but i cant wait till 2 launches i love good zombie games n this looks miles ahead of original
No point in playing since it's no longer open world and is only 20 hours. Sounds boring and looks linear as hell. I'm good. If I want a linear as fuck game that's actually good I'll play the resident evil four remaster.
The original wasn't serious at all... You had a "Homerun" baseball bat that did zero damage but flung zombies across the road. 😂 Just from point 1 I know you've not finished the original Dead Island campaign and you're faking your comparison based on other fake impressions from the original DI.
Dying light 2 was unplayable on ps4, if ur going to get dead island for the 4 please dont. I bet itll be broken too, even after getting the 5 and redownloading the 5 version. The game was just boring as hell, dead island looks kinda good surprisingly and I actually think itd be better then dying light, regardless imma wait on it, they really disappointed me with dying light, im glad i only got it to hold me over for elden ring
@@Sancsteq i coulda swore it was , isnt it techland ? Nope its deep silver, always thought they where the same. Regardless i put them in the same feel, not same style cause ones parkour, but i still think dead island might do better then dying light which is still odd to think
So basically, it's smaller in every way, shorter and yet costs twice as much as the first game did? Got it, I'll pass thanks, I've already been ripped off once this year with The Calisto Protocol, so I'll save my cash for something with more play value. This sounds like it should have been a budget title.
@@Sancsteq Every review video I've watched are saying so. I've looked forward to this for ages but I'm not paying £70 for a game that will only last me less than a week.
@@Sancsteq Why so serious? It's all a waste of time anyway lol. Who cares how big the maps are honestly? Like I said, if you enjoyed dying light, unless this game has a stellar story, never seen before incredible combat, and memorable characters, it'll get stale REAL QUICK. Especially for the price.
After playing previous zombie open world games Dead Island , Dying Light , Dying Light 2 I'm not hyped for a tuned-down linear zombie game I'll save my money for something better one I will pass this one
I think the biggest difference is dead island 2's unbelievably long development time. What of seen it doesn't look like anything new has been added. You can't even drive in this one. So its took them longer to make less of a game. Gunna be boring I reckon after dying light.
I think alot of critics are missing this as well. The first one you can drive and you hear nothing about it with this one. I mean hell, what was that trailer for with the van being driven by the hunters? Lol
That gameplay they recently released didn't help to show the game in a good light or open my wallet... Standing next to exploding air tanks... Three zombies stand still and do nothing while the player does a special move to another zombie.. The FLESH system seems like a waste of time. The game LOOKS great visually but thats it
I know it’s in LA but do we need political garbage in a game seriously can we just have some fun without having stuff like that shoved down our throats that would be nice
