I can’t shake the feeling that the dead island series would benefit greatly from a fallout/skyrim level modding scenes.

I feel like for a game that went through development hell this game came out in a better state than we could have asked for. Considering the state a lot of games were in during release at that time.

I remember last year I bought it right when it came out I played online and I met a group of people I friended them on PlayStation and we all still talk and play together till this day

This game looks and feels beautiful

I still remember playing dead island 1 when it came out it was a true zombie masterpiece

Playing since a week now and I absolutely enjoy this for an bit of „after work playing“ 👍🏼

As someone who recently got this game, i love it. I’ve learned all the cool speed glitches and i am happy with my purchase

everyone says it's so much more fun playing it online, but in my opinion, co-op kills the vibe of this game. it gets way too chaotic for me, and you often find yourself trying to explore some interesting areas while your friends are already way ahead, moving towards the main objective and clearing everything out of the way. this is just a frustrating experience because it gives you that feeling of missing out. i guess you need someone with a similar playstyle to enjoy this game in co-op mode because so far i've had more fun playing it solo

I just started playing it and it's very fun. I'm at the Venice beach area now and I'm excited to play some more tomorrow. I do wish the map was more open though. It can get kinda annoying to play through sometimes because the areas are just too small. And idk if it's because I'm on the hardest difficulty or not (I don't remember which one I picked), the game is extremely difficult at times. There were points in the game were I just kept dying over and over, it can get really frustrating and unfair sometimes. I remember there was one time where I got hit once by a zombie and died instantly, wasn't one of those brute things either, it was just a regular tennis zombie.

I played it on GamePass and really enjoyed it. Once I got all my cards and some high powered weapons, it became alot more fun.

Sad they took vehicles out tho fr I liked how the game was in pre alpha more open world, all they had to do was keep working on what they had but still love this game ❤

SOLA dlc is now out, so even more content for anyone who wants to play today.

the new dlc seems to be pretty good tho becasue its adding more zombie types

I have been enjoying the game. Coop is definitely where it’s at. I don’t mind killing zombies nonstop especially when trying a bunch of different weapons. I do hope if we get a dead island 3, they bring everything back from both games and have it be set in an open world on one map. Maybe split to three large maps. Idk

3:18 the whole point of a HEAVY weapon is that it is slow to use, but it deals a brutal amount of damage. It's not "slow" or "clunky" because its a heavy weapon (something you even acknowledge). In real life a sword that big would also be "slow" and heavy to use. It's like playing a game that has minigun and expecting it to have the weight and movement of a regular pistol. It is called a heavy weapon not just because of the amount of damage it does, but also because of how heavy it is to use. It'd be unrealistic for our characters to go around with a sword that big, swinging it like its a butter knife. I can understand everything else, but your point on the heavy weapon doesn't even make sense since every gamer knows that heavy weapons are slow but 10x powerful (all games tell you this anyway), and that's how it'd more or less function in real life.

One of my buddys was a absolute G and picked up the day one edition for me and honestly im having a great time with it so far i haven't even finished the main story yet cuz ive just been running around looting and having fun killing zombies so id definitely say its still worth playing

I like the way I have to kill zombies. You know how many times I have died already. Felt frustrated and kept going. I need that frustration it gets the people going.

At first I was like it did take a while to kill the zombies but then I learned I could upgrade my weapons to my level to match and then send them flying with brass knuckles 😁

I just started the first one and holy hell its like they've fixed none of the bugs it had at launch lol.

Zombie feel very tough but you and your weapons break easily if you play as Amy. I enjoyed it enough in the end.

Im looking for an Open world survival game “As they are my biggest genre to look for” Exploration, Building, scavenging, surviving, I used to play the hell out of minecraft but after awhile it just got stale as did many other games. It's totally worth it. The game is so much fun. I stopped at the last mission to go back and reach lvl 30, do all sidequests, unlock the best weapons with the best mods, complete all challenges and collect everything. As soon as I'm done with the main game I'm going to start the first dlc.

I tried it for a bit, but didn't really get into it.

Picked it up when it came out on steam, finished it this weekend... had a blast, both with the main game and the dlcs. Better than DI1 and Riptide for me.

I prefer this to DI1 and Riptide. It's also really funny that DI2 roasts DI1's escort quests every time the matter is brought up. I find the roasts funny because one late game escort mission in DI1 made me quit.

Dead Island 2 is a pretty simple game, but what it offers it does it pretty well. Bashing zombies in the face with golf clubs and pipe wrenches never felt so good. The feedback on the hits and the damage model just feels/looks incredible. Sure it can get repetitive, but this game is meant to wind down and have a blast with friends, to relax at night, turn your brain off and just smash things in the face for a bit. There is a bit of suspense and tenseness too. I noticed playing alone at night, going from room to room searching houses can get a bit scary because the graphics/atmosphere and the zombies themselves are done so well. There's just nothing quite like it on the market despite its simplicity. It's like a delicious bowl of velveeta mac and cheese. Tasty and satisfying, but nothing sophisticated.

Tbh once you max out combat is way better but I really love how he broke this down I’m gonna subscribe

I picked this up on Steam after waiting a year for the timed exclusive deal to be done. The melee combat feels good. Heavy weapons are slow but pack the stopping power to keep going. Light weapons are fast and give time to block. The story is nothing more than a reason to go from one place to another, and that is perfectly fine. How the story is told is what I find wrong with it. It takes control away from the player too often while still being in first person. Why not have choices in how to do some things also. How much would have it hurt to have a choice to watch the movie with Patton? What about personal quests lines to work on based on the slayer? The biggest issues I have seen are the zombie spawn radius for phasing in from nowhere. I have no problem if it is from close grates or sand, but just teleporting in a few feet close to me is is bad. At least make sure it happens behind a wall or something that I don't line of sight on. I get the devs want to be done with the game after the development hell this game went through.

Tried the game today, I was surprised how well it runs on my by todys standart potato, i5-4460, amd rx570 8gb video and 16 gigs of ram, 1080p resolution. Game started with High preset automatically and I just turned off the bloom, looks good and plays smooth (for me at least).

I just started, but i feel like 3 level 17s should be able to take out a clown boss, but nope. And headshots with shotguns don't insta kill what is that logic? Zombie jaw just flew across my screen and he's still biting me how are you even walking rn

The only reason I got this game was because of the gore. It's so addicting and you can't compare it to any other game I believe. I adore the developers for standing up and showing other zombie game devs how it's done. Though I'm sad given how much time has passed, they neglected many issues the game has.

They also announced this game is in the works still so more updates will dome maybe explore the map and expand u never know 👀

The first one I will always love unconditionally as it was the first zombie open world game I ever played. The story of dead island one hell even riptide was better and felt more alive than the story does for dead island 2 that being said visually and gameplay wise dead island 2 is fun as hell to play for a modern slasher/shooter zombie title

Dead island 2 is amazing but my go two zombie games have to be state of decay 2 and World War Z 😊

Played it this morning & tbh this game is very fun.

Dambuster have begun to turn this game around and listen to fans and players. Not many would do this as many would say thanks for the cash and run while flipping you off. Let's hope dambuster continues this move

Very much worth playing, and like all other co-op games it’s much more fun with friends.

Started playing two days ago (june 16th 2024), and i have to say i dont have any complaints. i bought it at 50% discount. gameplay is great, visuals are great. combat doesnt feel like a chore. Right now its actually quite easy just faffing about in free roam (might be the build). bosses offer a good challenge. overall great fun.

The dlcs are not lackluster, the game is awesome

so... i dont know about you, but if you read the descriptions of enemys... The big strong dudes are weak to bleed attacks... like, very weak with my current build i need about 2 good hits to kill 1 of them. But i guess if you dont like reading, thinking, or creating strategies beyond "smack till ded" its not a game for u...

This was a great game to play. I played it on launch and it was very satisfying playing solo through the campaign. The one *massive* downfall I have with the game is that it advertises Endless replayability. After the campaign there is close to zero replayability. Unlike Dying Light, this game has no randomised side quests, no random events that occur on the map, no friendly NPC's you can find needing help. Once I finished the campaign it was quickly shelved, where in Dying Light 1 & 2 the open world still felt alive with many unpredictable random events occurring around you.

yeah but they could have turned down the difficulty slider and I only say this cause in dead island and dead island riptide if you get into a stuck spot it respawns you with weapons at the wear you started with the mission of same effectiveness but the infected you killed stays the same like how many you killed. In dead island 2 it will respawn you but it takes away anything you did aka they are all back but your weapon wear stays the same when you died.so you could come back into a "kill them all" parts of the game with completely broken weapons but the whole horde of infected has respawned and sometimes it feels helpless, then it gets worse when zombies keep spawning out of the grates or man holes all over.you think your done with 4 or 5 then start getting hit by 5 more behind you

I bought this game for half off, and I can say that I'm having a good time playing this

I absolutely love this game but it does lack difficulty and replay ability once you’ve pretty much done the game 100%. Once you hit level 10 the game gets easier due to weapons, modifications and even the assault rifle makes specials feel like normal zombies. I wish they implemented a difficulty, I understand Dead Island has never been a difficult series, but if Dying Light has difficulties then I think this game would benefit from a difficulty selection. The lack of NG+ is the biggest upset especially the fact we’re in 2024 and most games that base around you vs the AI has NG+! That could be there biggest difficulty spike and introduce more levels and unique weapons. I don’t like playing one playthrough then I have to start fresh in order to restart the game. I don’t know if you’re trying to be funny but majority of your complaints aren’t the reason to why this game has its flaws. Melee combat is excellent in this game. The special infections are borderline easy once you start getting unique weapons (you can get one literally less than 45 minutes playing). When you’re versing them as a low level character and they’re higher than you of course it’ll be difficult because you’re meant to come back once you required enough levels. You can beat them as a low level which for any new players do not do it. The NPC are literally there for story purposes, YOU as the player are the one who’s supposed to take the fight and not watch the NPC do it for you. The game isn’t meant to be taken seriously it’s supposed to be a hack and slash zombie game. Even the previous dead island games don’t even have an interesting story but the gameplay is why many players kept on playing. I feel like you played this for 12 hours and gave your opinion and I highly recommend to players to play this game because it’s fun.

To me it’s just a damn good zombie game for mindless fun. Love the apocalypse, I think they nailed it there and frankly I just want more of it. Yeah the characters are wacky and silly but it don’t bother me all that much. Sometimes it can be a bit annoying when you’ve cleared a horde of zombies and they keep spawning in, when you just want a breather. I wonder what Dead Island 3 will bring if it ever comes to another Dead Island game. I think Dead Island 1 had a better setting, while 2 has better zombies and gameplay I think.

Its good to look at but honestly lacks all the SCARE and DIFFICULTY feeling that Definite Edition carries in comparison, even to this day.

I'm here because Amazon Prime Day has the "Dead Island 2 HELL-A Edition - PlayStation 5" on sale for $89.95 (original price is $137.52)... from your video I'm getting the sense that if it's free (i.e. if you have Xbox gamepass) then it's worth playing, otherwise it's not a game worth paying for, is this a reasonable interpretation?

Dead Island 2 just has a Coop problem in my mind sometimes i Can sometimes i can’t travelling just crashes/get’s me stuck if they are gonna Update the game with better Coop connection i would give it a thumbs up

Honestly I don't have much time to play the game when I get home from work so I tend to play COD. Since I got this game it gives me something else to play with. I find it enjoyable.

I played DI2 on launch and I enjoyed the game a lot (this was fully purchased on PC as well so no gamepass). I disagree about your take on the melee combat because if I wanted my weapon attacks to feel like paper weights I would play an anime game where I'm teenage girl is swing around a great sword like its a feather lol. In a first person game where I want to FEEL the impact of my attacks making them a little more cumbersome is a good thing and adds to the impact that this game offers compared to many other games that have terrible weightless first person melee combat. Its the reason I liked the original and I feel the first person combat in this game is some of the best, along with a gore system that not many games can touch atm. I feel the biggest short comings about the sequel was the smaller maps, the new card system replacing the traditional skill trees of the previous games, the cliffhanger ending, and lack of NG+ to keep growing your character or at least being able to take a maxed out character through the game again with a higher challenge. I feel given the game almost never came out due to it being thrown from 1 dev to another, this game came out hte best it possibly could have under those circumstances. I am excited to jump back in the game with the last DLC releasing in a few days.

The game is beautiful and one of my favorite game in 2023. I wish the quests were better like u can find survivors and not always finding their bodies . Story was fun but short unfortunately, they will definitely be doing dead island 3 .

Killing zombies is super ez, each zombie has there own weaknesses. Different mods make different zombies a cake walk. The only one ive seen is not good to fight in melee is the mutator cause its insane damage and wide range of attacks r murderous.

Some such as The Walking Dead, World War Z, and the Last Of Us series, so did video games of the Zombie Apocalypse in a Not-Too Distant Future

This franchise is always going to live in the shadow of Dying Light, I'm amazed they actually even tried to compete with it.

The npc are lazy yes but they cant help, you and the main cast are the only immune ones in the game.

If they jus added a NGp Noone wld rlly have too much negative to say about this game. It's fun AF to play if you never have.
