Today it was announced that all of the indoor stores will be closed by the end of April. It's sad. We have a home video from 1997 when I performed with my dance group there, and one would be in disbelief to know it's the same mall because it was packed at the time. I live very close by and I hope I can get some last video footage before it's gone.
What I meant to say was. I like dead malls and stores. I like your and dan bells videos. There's something about them. I enjoy your work. Keep the videos coming
Anthony- you should check out the Chesapeake Square Mall, in Chesapeake, VA. That mall has plenty of neon, at least when I was there, and some great early 90s ambiance.
Oof, just read that the owner says the mall should be demolished in an article released in Feb. '18. (You can find it via Google by searching this malls name.) Sad.
That is really sad when people who own the mall can't pay the bank back on. I do remember goimg here and going to a store that you can buy clothes for $1.00 to 5.00 and this place is sad now
love this channel, you guys put togathet some amazing videos... i don't know if you have or ever want to but the next time your traveling the I-81 corridor maybe checkout the Chambersburg Mall. i was in there over the Christmas season and it was pretty dead i think the property can house 75 stores and i counted i think 26 empty spaces also there is a gander mountain on the property and you know there in trouble too. this mall is off exit 20 on I-81 Chambersburg, pa. also the Apple Blossom Mall in Winchester, va is on the dead mall website. i havent personally been in this mall for close to 10 years but travel by it all the time on my way to pick up and deliver fuel to the flying j truck stop. i do know sometime on the past 3-5 years ago thet dod some renovations to the place. but it's off ezit 313 on I-81 in Winchester, va... sorry for such a long message
I remember coming here in the early 2000s with my grand parents. It had a lot more open back than and it’s a shame to see it go. I remember golden eagle comics and fye here.
Randall Lambert I remember hearing about players from the Reading Royals (local hockey team) signing autographs there. I don't think they're doing it anymore, but maybe it could bring up some business.
Ace, when you are in the Houston area for the San Jacinto Mall video check out Northwest Mall too. The interior mall located at 290 and 610 will close March 31st. Lots of retro storefronts to see.
When did you take this video? When I took my videos, it was a Saturday afternoon, and it was dead. Also, the Christmas decorations were still up in late January.
question, what was the approximate time of day when this video was filmed. thanks . also, a reminder, i'm curious what music it is you have in the video from last may, . cheers
Update 3/09/2017 here from Pittsburgh area "North Hills " Ross Park Mall should be on your list!!! If Sears,Pennies,Macy's close there will only be Nordstrom's left to support the entire mall. A few miles away North way Mall in Ross TWP. now called The Block received a loan from the Ross TWP to finish the total remodel from a indoor mall built in 1963-64 ish. To a outdoor mall ......you would think in our colder climates you would keep indoor malls..............Kay Jewelers is closing 140 stores in malls soon and opening 240 stores outside from malls later this year....Matt
Love your Vids! Thanks for sharing. If you ever happen to come up to Massachusetts, you should check out the Berkshire Mall in Lanesborough . I spent a lot of time there when I was a kid in the 90's. Now it's just dead. JCPenney is closing its doors in April. All of the other anchor stores have left in the last decade or so. The food court is just sad. Target and the cinema are there plus a dozen or so of smaller stores. I don't see it lasting that much longer. Hope you can check it out.
If you ever decide to come back to Reading you should check out the VF Outlet. It has a dead mall underground and its said half of the complex is to be destroyed soon.
Rush Waggoner no i dont i use my iphone 6 plus and am just careful on my timing of getting shots when people arent around, it can be a challenge sometme
Would you guys ever think about doing a prevlog. Just a vlog of you guys traveling in from where you live to the destination. I think that would add a lot to the great content.
YES i second Greenspoint Mall, dat mall is so dead, it's like it's under construction! also Sharpstown Mall (now called PazAmericas) is well still dead but tryin' 2 get back up
Norma Slattery Yeah they could make a day trip out of Houston. Greenspoint, PlazAmerica, Northwest, Plaza Paseo, and San Jacinto. You could even throw in West Hill Mall in Huntsville. I have covered these malls on my blog, but I just take stills with no video footage usually.
Spencer Scroggins Yeah, the Chambersburg Mall has very little left and could be worth checking out. There's more than what is seen here but not much. I used to go to this mall as a kid when they would have car shows. I remember it being packed. I was there in 2014 and was shocked to see how empty it was.
If they would build these malls and put in a rent free police or county sheriff sub station they would last much much longer help with the intimation of the bad element chasing the customers away Please dont pretend who or what.
Anthony, I like your videos since I was a mall kid and am sad that they are going by the wayside. The "Mall Music" and the vintage commercials you edit into the video put a timeline of success to what they have become are a big part of the story of the subject. But you talk to much....
This is just my opinion, but the talking through is kind of distracting. You can put all that info in the description as many other dead mall/abandoned places channels do. Just my personal taste!
