Dead Mall Walking: Cary Towne Center Mall: Walk Through and Drive Around 

This is so sad! My wife and I at one time lived in Southern Pines NC and we would go to this mall instead of crabtree. It was easy to get in and out of and it was a very safe and nice mall! Hard to believe that so much has changed in 19 years... By the way, how is Crabtree mall doing? Anyone know?

Just went the other day. it's almost empty now :(

Wow, you must live in a huge city to have such a big mall. We have a smaller one with 3 anchors. One they turned into a big movie theater that was doing quite well, the second is a Macy's, and the third was Sears. It's in a T shape and the hallways look a lot like yours but the upstairs has been turned into a dance studio, a karate school, a gymnastics school, a skateboard ramp place, and batting cages. That was a pretty good idea, but now with all this going on, I don't think a lot will survive, if any. Sad. xoxo Hope you're feeling well.

My mom would always take me to this mall but now it’s just dead and my mom and I witnessed 2 robberies. One was last year and today July 10 2020, my mom and I witnessed a robbery with 3 black guys walking out with champion clothing and it was just insane and so I hope they get caught because the workers were upset and my mom and I were so upset that we had to witnessed that after shopping at this mall. This mall is my childhood and it’s sad to see it die

Reminds me of Tallahassee Mall before it died. I actually saw that someone did a RU-vid video about it, but they'd made it before the re-developer died, so the film was not quite complete. Perhaps the YTer will go back and include that info. Anyway, to your mall - sad that there were still stores open, but so few customers; however, I get it. How safe is it? How many deals are actually to be found? Most stuff can't be returned for obvious reasons. Still, it's sad. Then again, I didn't even go to our one remaining mall during this holiday season. I did go to an independent comic & gaming store, in the same strip mall as Best Buy, and did make some purchases for Christmas - so I did my part, I hope.
