On January 26th, 2007, Sister Helen Prejean, a nationally-known death penalty opponent, spoke about restorative justice during a free public lecture at the University of Oregon School of Law.Prejean's speech was on the topic "From Revenge to Reconciliation: Changing the Paradigm of Justice."Prejean is best known for her Pulitzer Prize-nominated autobiographical book, "Dead Man Walking," about her relationship with a death row inmate and his 1984 electrocution in a Louisiana prison. A 1995 movie based on the book was nominated for an Oscar and propelled Prejean and her cause into national prominence.
