@@TheBritishRunner you’re absolutely right, but I’m thinking in the “average Joe” mindset, a bunch of the security team must have survived after they learned to cut off their limbs
That's what I enjoy about Dead Space lore regarding outbreaks. Less so in DS3 since the outbreak has long since occurred. But in the USG Ishimura and Sprawl outbreaks, you can sort of timeline them very much like an actual disaster. Similar to Half Life with the Black Mesa Incident and how all of its expansions tie into it timeline-wise.
Love to know those mp maps are actually placed on the main story. I like to think the security team were succesful on their tasks but probably most of the outcomes they didn't make it or their attempts to severed the horde weren't as effective a they thought. I think every map it's a perspective from a different team, but thinking that they are the team in every map it's a cool idea too
@engelberthkroeger6817 I think the dead space mobile game made something like that and had an exclusive weapon called the heavy pulse rifle. Hopefully, they can bring back to the games.
I loved this game mode. I even had a Dr Pepper skin you got from the codes on the lids. It was like a metallic red black and grey digital camo. I loved it
That's funny. Imagine you're a horrid, twisted, death-dealing space zombie with bone blades ripping dudes apart and then you get utterly bodied by some average joe in a soda suit.
Loved the multiplayer for DS2 however it was super unbalanced, despite that, I had so much fun with my friends and we had always theorized the Lore for the multiplayer, and in our opinions, when the canon outcome was unclear, we believed the security team survived
I really hope we get a horde and team death match in a newer dead space game that would be amazing like a how gears of war 5 did horde and maybe a infection mode would also be a awesome where you get to play as a necromorph and infect crew members one by one
I gotta say, I wasn't a big player of the multiplayer, but listening to you recap the purpose of the teams/objectives - this would make for an awesome Coop feature if Motive goes ahead and remakes Dead Space 2. Keep the Multiplayer but perhaps add in a Coop narrative (similar to Halo 4 Fireteam) and have the security teams try and accomplish their objectives with MORE Necromorphs coming at them would be great, especially if they find ways to actually connect within the single player experience; indications of something happening before when arriving to a location (dead security bodies and Necromorphs), hearing the security team chatter over your RIG when nearby, or even small changes to dialogue that mentions the teams.
I’ve commented on so many of these multiplayer DS2 videos, I’ve lost track. It would have been banger if we had a halo reach style character development with a team of security forces trying to either extract out or destroy the outbreak. What I also loved was how the security team voice lines were believable. They sounded panicked and distraught, but still manly enough to get the job done. 2:03 soundtrack?
I agree! I would love (IF we get a Dead Space 2 remake) for them to incorporate the multiplayer experience as a coop experience as well - Like Halo 4 Fireteams, where bits of your story progression tie into the overall narrative. Maybe in game you hear the security team over Isaac's RIG, maybe they change bits of Tidemann's dialogue to include mentions of certain teams in action, OR as Issac you stumble across fallen security team members and Necros showcasing a fight coming to a close. But YES, having the chance to play as a security team is quite high on my list. I THINK Dead Space can do Coop, but you have to make it hard with weapon specific ammo like before, not universal ammo like DS3
Absolutely an excellent video. I always knew they were connected as it was obvious from the mission dialogue but I loved hearing the more intricate details I missed. Definitely hope they bring the multiplayer mode, as well as the premise of it being connected to the main story, back in a remake.
If a Dead Space 2 remake was made, I wouldn’t mind this multiplayer mode being added. I like how each map gives you a different objective and not just the same one.
If they do a Dead Space 2 remake I'd want them to keep the multiplayer but instead of the the maps not really having any connection and potentially not even being canon it would be like Left 4 Dead 2 where each of the maps are connected but also have a story going on though out the maps as well as the player characters being actual characters.
There should have been a multiplayer for Dead space remake like dead space 2. Like for the Valor when chens slash was retrieved. I mean you can see two survivors on the Valor as Isaac reaches the end that chapter one with a leg slashed and the other if you're quick enough to see him running to the bridge after getting the fuel core. The valor earth gov would get plasma cutter with pulse rifle with possible upgraded guns like line gun, contact gun, and force gun. The necromorphs would be lurker, leaper, slasher, and twitcher. Strongest in that order. And maybe an bonus necromorph for leveling up like the infector gaining ability to infect limited number of dead bodies while rhey can infect opposing players as well. The leaper can stick to walls like lurker and twitcher can run faster and dodge. This would be a fun experience multiplayer happening during valor or maybe mining deck or maybe on aegis VII. Too bad they didn't think to do it. Oh well
i always really liked the multiplayer in ds2 i always felt like it was its own little dlc and me and my buddies had to make it out alive or perish together great game modes and maps for a singleplayer game
If I remember correctly in the begining of severed dlc, you see 7 rigs including Gabe's 4 of them died. While the other two was the guy hunting you and lexine and the one guy who died immediately as gabe meets him. I'm assuming he died because he had low health. Not aure about there being 2 teams in the mines though.
I remember playing MP on DS2. Sometimes I'd be affected by the Marker and start killing my own Security Team members to send them to Convergence. They weren't expecting that... 😹
Even the multiplayer maps are all connected to the dead space lore in the second game and it's Canon. But I still think for the most part the human team wins
I say some teams survived, depending on which mission and map it was. Not everyone who stayed on the station, and never evacuated in the initial moments of the outbreak, survived. And that especially included members of the Titan Station Security team, as seen in the main story, particularly those who were in Gov Sec when Issac compromised it.
