Here's a fun story, back in Highschool, we had to do a project where we had to advertise a product that's either for an object we own or a product that just doesn't exist. Since I was such a Dead Space fanboy in my high school years, I of course decided to make an advertisement for the Plasma cutter, I made a whole presentation, talking about how useful it is for mining and even said that it's used by the "famous engineer" Isaac Clarke, I also made a small poster for it as well. So in the end, Dead Space helped make a project very fun to do and helped me get a good grade as well.
I did something similar, i had a heros arc thing i had to do for an English class but i instead used Crysis 2 and its main protagonist Alcatraz. Turned it in late but the teacher loved it so much I got 100 points for it plus 50 extra credit points for the amount of detail i put into it.
The Sawblade thing was super clutch. And I consider stasis/kenisis to be the most realistic displays of such technology. You feel it seems obvious these things would be normal and work the way they do (outside of boxes freaking out when lifted against walls :P)
The thing i like about the Majority of "Weapons" in this game is that...they are just simply Space Tools to Deal with Fixing Machines and Asteriod Mineral cleaning and farming. Like especially the Plasma Cutter,It's literally how a Crowbar is to Gordon Freeman that is to Issac Clark or the Gravity Gun and kinesis module. Both Protagonists uses Tools as Convenient and Deadly weapons and This is honestly my favorite video game trope.
With that said. Their nature as tools would lend to really cool environmental interaction and puzzle mechanics in either the remake or a sequel. Using the severing tools (plasma cutter, ripper, line gun) to cut down objects and debris. Using impaling tools (rivet gun, javelin, kinesis impalement) to pin objects onto surfaces. Using explosive tools (pulse rifle secondary fire, line gun secondary fire, flamer secondary fire, force gun, detonator, contact beam) to blow away heavier debris and obstructions too heavy for kinesis. Using the javelin's secondary fire to provide temporary power to a machine. Using the flamer to melt slag and ice off of machinery.
@@DJWeapon8 That would require the player to have them on hand, so there'd probably be 'Malfunctioning' versions nearby for those puzzles. Still, I'd actually like that, would reinforce both that these are mining tools first and foremost, and that your job is as an engineer.
For me personally the plasma cutter has always been a favorite of mine as its very versatile and never shys away away damage wise if you put enough care to it
The ripper on ds1 was my favorite. That chainsaw sound... How brutally it tore slashers apart... The perfect close range weapon for dealing with multiple melee enemies with one shot
I used to rely on the line gun. The tactic of backing myself against a wall, firing a few timed mines, then aiming at the legs of all the remaining necromorphs, who got past the mines.
I just want to imagine the game, where you are playing for 3-4 citizens of Aegis 7 or Sprawl, wielding plasma cutters: one is cargo pilot, second is station engineer, third is some security officer, but he/she uses some sort of pistol, the 4rd one is some unitologist-programmer, but not brainwashed. And they're trying to survive to flee off that place to any planet where's quite. They use all kind of tools: Ripper/Contact beam/Plasma cutter/Pulse rifle/Flamethrower/Arc Wielder/Pistols/Detonator or Javelin gun/Rivet gun as well (but its charge/ammo is also limited). Thank you for such informative video! (If you don't to read, head to the end of the commentary to get the idea of game concept, signed with *) I wish to see something similar to Extraction, but on any kind of platform, with gameplay like in 1&2 parts of Dead Space, but characters are not supersoldiers, and their abilities are very weak: like, for example, the Engineer can use most of tools, but suffers with firearms, pilot can use standard pistols/cutters, but can't handle tools like Ripper/Contact Beam. Officer just doesn't know how to use tools (except for cutters), but he's best at firearms. Unitologist can use all weapons, but suffers with tools. And when you handle the Ripper - you have to hold from hips, not aiming like some pistol/rifle, tracking the bluebeam, just like Isaac did in DS1 (such weapons as Forcegun, Flamethrower, Ripper, Contact Beam). Because these weapons must be overall heavy, you can't just take it and aim like normal firearm. But it also must be very tense, like, QTE with necromorps when you're caught and in the fatal threat of being executed. Such tension was in DS2 Multiplayer, where that situation cost a lot of humans, and was a real prey for necromorphs. The lore of Dead Space can combine the best horror/action sequences, it just must be combined in equal dosage. Helping allies is critical, as well as weapon management for each character for the highest effect of survivability. Just imagine such game, it would be so amazing! Each weapon would have its own matter for each character, and visuals as well. The only problem you may get is the vacuum zone: there must be some sequences of going through it by using part-time suits, or making characters suits more vulnerable. Like, cargo pilot cannot stand more than 2-3 hits from necromorph, but he/she is mobile, can evade/dash some attacks, same goes for unitologist. Engineer can hold up to 3-4 attacks, but his mobility is less progressive. Officer can hold 3 attacks, and his mobility is good, but he's also weak against necromorphs. I mean the thing is: each character is not a supersoldier, like was mentioned before, but a human, that has his own fears of being turned into necromorph or getting killed by government military forces/possessed unitologists. Such atmosphere was shown great in Extraction, by the way. I'd say it would be the best multiplayer coop-like sequence of walkthroughs. Yes it'll lack of horror partly, but will save the atmosphere. I think this game will come out, someday. It'll worth of playing, if scenario, characters personalities, lore will be written outstandingly. I would even say it could be the best space horror-action survival game, where your enemy is strong, and you have to rely not only on yourself, but your team as well. Each character will learn how to stand together, and survive or die together. The death of each character will cause some serious concenquences, like the impossibility/difficulty of multiple routes to designated point, because programmer was slashed and he/she was the only one who could hack the door fast, while engineer does it longer, or cargo pilot was out of oxygen and died in space but was the only person who could drive some cargo platforms easy, while officer/engineer would do that much longer, and the consequence is - more ammo spent, more wounds, less changes to make it out alive. And the weapons - loosing one weapon will cause the inablity to fight, so you'll have to search for a new tool/weapon, or asking the ally to use his/her gun when the danger is on your side. The key side - is the movability of each character. They must feel... Alive, I would say. For better horror/action experience. There's no chance to stand against the creatures with bare hands - you will die instantly. Yet you can also die with weapon too. You can loose your weapon if creature pushed you away, if you decided to use it as melee weapon, if you gave it to another character but case written earlier is happened. Even fully armed person can be useless, if other team members are playing like decoys, but sometimes, such tactics might save the whole squad. * In short: imagine DS1/DSE combined with some game on variations of choices (like Massive Games projects) - you'll receive just the exact game I fantasize about. With weapon animations like was in DS1 preferably.
The plasma cutter has to be one of the best "pistols" in games, up there with the likes of Combat Evolved's magnum. It's powerful, ammo efficient, versatile and takes upgrades really well. While it isn't the best tool for every job, it can do every job decently.
Very well down video. The beginning of chapter 2 in dead space 2 when Isaac crawls out of the vent into the hardware store has always been where the game ACTUALLY starts for me. I wish we could get a little more background lore on all the cool tools and weapons we see throughout the series.
I have to question SWS's concept of *Friendly Fire* when they thought adding a function to a perfectly good rifle to become a Spinning Machine Gun was a good idea...
Maybe it used with stun rounds against crowd when there are not enugh manpower to fend them off. Maybe you can hold front of you activate it to make a wall front of you. But thats my best guests. Everything is better than spin to win there even if it just shot all the barrels at once .
You take 4 weapons ? Isn't it normal to have 2 weapons and have a huge amount of ammo or am i the only one playing like that ? I can rely on these 2, this helps me to survive, means i need less medkits and less different ammo and in the end i can sell that stuff to get more power nodes and upgrade my stuff further more and so on.
You forgot about the 711-MarkCL Rivet Gun from Dead Space 2 (and technically 3). Honestly kind of surprised you missed that one compared to the Extraction Rivet Gun.
@@TheBritishRunner One thing for sure is that the 935 Bonder Rivet Gun is made by Schofield Tools (as you stated in the video) while the 711-MarkCL Rivet Gun was made by Timson Tools. While yes they are very similar due to sharing the same purpose, as you stated the secondary fire modes are vastly different. The other difference is the power and damage of the rivet. The Schofield's Bonder Rivet Gun is more powerful as the rivets are able to sever a limb by one shot (against standard Necromorphs) albeit with a slower firing rate. While the Timson's MarkCL Rivet Gun fires much weaker rivets (seriously even when upgraded max the damage is pretty pathetic) but with a much faster firing rate. My only conclusion to the difference in terms of damage and firing rate from both Rivet Guns is that the Schofield's Bonder Rivet Gun is made for more heavy duty line of work as it's rivets are able to penetrate more tougher and denser material while the Timson's MarkCL Rivet Gun was meant for less heavier work as its rivets aren't able to penetrate tougher materials as effectively (being more like a modern nail gun).
@@Riptor1998 I play the PC version of DS2 and the DLC weapons and suits are made free so the Agility Rivet Gun was made available in the first store. Yeah you are made to forget about its existence since the gun is pretty pathetic in terms of damage and usefulness (unlike it's DS3 counterpart) that you are better off using the Plasma Cutter.
@@qwaykes8840 given the fact that their vessels are just as dangerous to their workers as a Necromorph could ever hope to be, I wouldn't honestly be surprised.
The line gun is my favorite. Everything about it is awe inspiring. The sound, the damage, the look and design of it. It’s the best heavy weapon I’ve seen in any game. I especially love how the arms shutter a bit with each shot, like a massive slingshot after letting go of the projectile. Contact beam is a close second.
Coming back to this after The Callisto Protocol but Dead Space still holds up as having some of the most creative and intriguing weapon designs ever-nothing else has even come close
10:41 what’s interesting, is that if you played the “Severed” DLC on DS2, gave is given a military grade pulse rifle, and a seeker rifle. If anything, it could be a DMR.
@@TheBritishRunner oh I know that, but it’s interesting because wellers armor is different compared to his men. You should do a video on Earth gov security. They’re by far my favorite part of the Deadspace series. Along with how did earth gov cover up the Marker discovery
@@douglasbubbletrousers4763 well... let's just say that his determination and his strong will made him find out the debug build files, investigated on his own how to decrypt and run it on the PS3 emulator and even finding out and shared me the info about running the DLC packs. He ignited my Dead Space spirit with the debug build and he'll always be for me the Debug God.
Even though Plasma Cutter is bad when it comes to crowd control but man, i love Plasma Cutter. I always use Plasma Cutter and only Plasma Cutter in every main Dead Space game because it's so iconic. The DIY Plasma Cutter in Dead Space 2 looks pretty lame tho. I like the first and third one. The third Plasma Cutter is like a redesigned of the first Plasma Cutter.
That would be phenomenal if it saids congratulations for beating Dead Space remake you get unlock all these :all weapon All suits hopefully they put some fan-made art Necromorphs competition to pull out the best Necromorph fan art in Dead Space remake
@@indigenoustruthspeaker3129 I hope the weapons from Extraction is in there. Along with the two Necromorphs from it After all, the Grappler was going to be in DS1 but it got cut.
You can never go wrong with the Plasma Cutter. The Collider Beam is my second favorite weapon. Aside the powerful primary fire, its alt-fire is super useful. The Javelin Gun is my third favorite, its very satisfying to use. The Force Gun is my fourth favorite, pushing enemies back & the alt-fire in Dead Space 2 is so good! Edit: Forgot to mention the Line Gun too.
8:28 And according to the dead space wiki, those aren't supposed to be bullets, but small bits of energy. Knowing that while seeing the necromorphs easily tank those shots really goes to show how phucking strong they are.
not gonna lie, the plasma cutter is the best, but the Pulse rifle so far is one of my favs, I don't know why because that thing looks pretty janky but it has one of my fav reload animations
The pulse rifle is my favorite! Reminds me of the m41a pulse rifle from aliens, and it feels great to unload whole magazines when you feel overwhelmed!
I think the pickaxe may be all over the SCAF tunnels and excavations. We find Fodders with Pickaxes and giant pipe wrenches and we can see pickaxes all over work areas down on the surface. However, the SCAF were running out of resources, so for all we know those could be normal pickaxes. Iron could be forged simply from broken parts of ships and recycled. Its not exactly a hard mineral to obtain. Especially in a war where ships and vehicles are being wrecked all the time.
I find it ironic that most of these were used for “mining” and their appearance looks very deceiving, and that they do not give me the impression of mining lol
Hey man, I noticed in some of your videos you have gameplay footage that isn't from the 3rd person perspective that is used in the games, and instead it looks like you can move the camera freely (for example at 3:32 or 7:34). What software do you use to do that? I'll be very thankful for any information.
It's kinda funny to my that in DS univers , a gang ,mafia or a single men can just arm them selfs with mining tools and nobudy will oppouse and they will by as deadly as like they were using the reall wepons.
My perfect combo is playing only with line and plasma cutters, one for weak enemies to shot their arms and legs than stomp to the corpse and line cutter for strong meatballs to cut them when they are in charging attack than mine shot its simple and works for me on hardest difficulty. And ammo to this line cutter is pretty high cost as I remember.
AYOOOUUUUGA never though I'd see video like this. Thanks! edit: it would've been EVEEEEEN better if you did ingame showcase of said tools/weapons while describing them too. It'll benefit the video a lot!
my fave was the plasma cutter, of course, the pulse rifle , the line gun and the supercollider. please EA i would to see the Divet pistol and plasma saw being usable weapons in the remake please
I don't know about you guys but this may be the last chance for a new Dead Space game, if you guys really want a Dead Space 4 or even another Dead Space game, this is probably your last chance, so try to support it! Buy it digital buy it pre release etc or even share this video to everyone, I know some of you hate EA for what they did, but I really want a Dead Space 4 even if the game is not good enough, I know everyone can help even by sharing the video.
@@TheBritishRunner nah I'm just implying the fact that they're a ton of weapons used for mining and fixing things rather than actually being meant for killing lol
Maybe when the remake....wouldent count on expanded anything. I'm guna bet it's a 6 hr campaign.. if you stop to pause it and eat a lunch, use the toilet, let the dog out, mow the lawn.
I pretty much only use the plasma cutter. But I keep the plasma cutter, force gun, contact beam, and pulse rifle on me in the first game. In the second one I think it was the plasma cutter, force gun, contact beam, and rivet gun. I liked the plentiful ammo for the rivet gun.
