stomp on dead enemy's for extra loot (might be thinking of DS2) and turn your plasma cutter horizontal. And man, your so good at these games you should always play on hard because by the end you always have enough ammo/loot to fund a small country.

Useful tip: there is a way to rotate your plasma cutter beams so they're horizontal which makes lopping off legs (and heads) a fair bit easier from what I recall. Using vertical orientation works, obviously, but it's easier to miss entirely. Glad you picked this one to play. I played about halfway many years ago on a friend's GameCube using a controller. Being a PC gamer, I got frustrated with the unfamiliar controls and gave up. It'll be nice to see what I missed.

Oh my God I've never clicked the RU-vid notification so fast! I listened to the soundtrack for Dead Space 1 earlier today and now this happened! To this day there hasn't been a single game better in horror and atmosphere than Dead Space 1.

OH boy, This is a game I both love and hate, first time I played this game I played to the first save, then left it for a week before I even picked up a controller to play it again, then I finished it. Don't forget to watch for Peng! Edit: Two notes, Keep one Energy Node on hand for locked rooms, and yes, air is important, but you're going to want to upgrade weapon capacity, the more ammo in the weapon, the less in your inventory/the less you need to reload.

Always aim for a leg and then an arm unless you want to shoot off a scythe arm and use kinesis to throw it back at them (which is easier in DS2 and DS3). Close combat (hitting, stomping) in DS1 is not as rapid or fluid and will have to be timed right so I would not recommend doing it under any circumstances, especially since necromorphs can dodge easily.

I would really love to see you play Geist. It's really old, like Gamecube old. Game is only for Gamecube, but it involves ghosts, possession, monsters, military, etc. It's a really good game. Again, I would love to see you play it.

Seems like it's always some chinese/japanese company that dabbles in these horrible things that go wrong. In this game you're going to the Ichimura, in Moons of Madness the company was Orochi, in Prey it was Transtar, in Cyberpunk the big baddies are Arasaka. There's a common theme here lol. If anyone reading this one day is in space, and you're on an Asian ship, watch the fuck out for aliens.

Yeah, played this again a month ago and unfortunately getting this game to work is a bitch. Playing with ingame vsync is like dragging the mouse through water and disabling it messes up the game. The best way is to force vsync through the graphics card. Besides that there's problems with using a mouse as this was apparently made for controllers. Mouse fix exists but the sensitivity changes hugely depending on if you're aiming downsights or just looking around. Still a great game though.

I tried playing this once and I just couldn't get over the weird over the shoulder angle plus confusing interface. I'd run around for hours to find the objective, so I gave up. Also I thought it would be super scary, but it's honestly just meh.

This game isn't really scary the build is not good and 3D models of the enemies most of them creatures made literally bones cover flesh and with skin and they supposed to fucking alien wow brilliant how scary gore and disturbing things aren't really what horror is all about they can be used as elements sone times just to freak people out but that doesn't mean they must the main factor of horror

The true horror is reading this comment. The real horror of this game was in its sound design and the feeling that enemies could pop up at any given moment. I suggest you play it yourself, with high volume, and the lights turned off. ;)

Personally I fall in the group that really doesn't like the DEAD SPACE series . I mean I admit I did played the games and gameplay wise is pretty good and even fun at times, but really I found the series and lore, stories, and characters to be painfully awful and removes much care and interest in whats happening and whats worse the games attempt at Horror is more pathetic in my eyes. Really heavily on Jumpscare and insane Gore over using true Horror.

Alex Olinkiewicz what you just said peeked my interest. (Note: no sarcasm in this comment at all. I really mean what I'm saying... even though me saying that there is no sarcasm sounds sarcastic, but i really am being serious.) Ive often considered horror to be mostly what you stated it isn't. So, if you wouldn't mind of course, could you give me an explanation of your idea of true horror? Oh and if you don't want to, i don't mind ether, i was just interested. Oh and to the die hard dead space fans, please let him speak, we all have our own opinions about what is the best horror. I'm just interested in hearing about his currently. Lets not turn this into an argument.

Alex Olinkiewicz I would disagree. The characters, especially Isaac are dynamic, emotional, and make the story for me. The story is lacking in the 1st game I would agree but dead space 2 and dead space extraction really add on the meat for the story. By the 3rd game EA had its vile clutches dug into the series and honestly that games not even worth playing. As far as dead space being a "true horror" (I too would like your insight into what qualifies as true horror) I would say that the game sometimes relies on jumpscares, but I think they are justified given the situation and how the necromorphs function. Personally I never have forgotten the first time a necromorphs pretended to be dead only to jump up behind me! The real fear factor in this game is isolation and insanity. I don't know I loved the gore and isolation combo and the super effective weapon that you start with.

Well to me, if a game can make me feel Tense, Unease, Panic, and/or Leaves an Impact on me then I count it as true horror and the truth of the matter is not once I ever felt any of those in the Dead Space games. I think the biggest issue is that I feel like the Dead Space games tries to be taken seriously, but it pushes the horror so much that it just becomes silly and honestly very predictable (was able to predict every scare that was coming). I could go into more detail on my issues with the Dead Space games, but I'm not to found of writing very long and detail comments so I recommend you check out the Zero Punctuation reviews on the Dead Space games (if you haven't already), the critic Ben "Yahtzee" pretty much has the same issues that I have with the games. But of course in the end this is just my opinion and I fully respect yours.

I'm not what you would call a die hard fan of the series but I think this is probably one of the best titles that defines sci fi horror survival. Especially if you read all the background lore leading up to the main events. But everyone is entitled to their opinion and I can respect that

I actually have looked at some of background lore and I honestly found the lore to be awfully written and annoying. But like you said it is just my opinion and I fully respect your opinion even if I don't agree.
