Dead Space Remake - Isaac Clarke discovers Nicole Brennan is Dead (4K) 

This actually fixes the original game's plothole where we have to protect "Nicole" from necromorphs.

The truth about Nicole was one of the best thing that remake has done, they made this twist more believable by using a actual living person, instead of just letting Isaac talking to a "ghost/illusion" as original did. Dr. Cross was something that I did not see it coming, both were driven by the resolve of protecting their love ones, and sadly, how they were deceived and manipulated by the marker.

It now actualy makes sense for Isaac to protect "Nicole" earlier because now she's is an actual living person (although that person is NOT Nicole herself but someone else disguised as her) from the necromoprhs. Since well you are not protecting something that isn't actually there at all. Plus it's also reasonable for Elizabeth to help her "boyfriend" who both here and in the original was also an engineer like Isaac. So it makes both "disguises" very convincing.

Kendra here is better. She revealed the truth to Isaac for his own good and went rogue against EarthGov by attempting to send the Marker away into outer space, so no one will have hallucinations from it.

I love the idea that Isaac knows Nicole is dead from the beginning but due to how their last call went, he refuses to watch the end and it also explains why the interactions between the 2 are so strange when you finally see “her” in person. Isaac was so far in denial he was just happy to see what he wanted to see. The touch of Kendra hacking his rig so he can’t cut the video off before the end is cool, too. I think a lot of people misinterpreted this and think Isaac is just now finding out. But it’s just Isaac being confronted with what he has denied this whole time.

Wow! This actually makes sense this time around. Adding Cross into this helps make sense of how Nicole was able to help Isaac if she was not real. In this, the Marker disguised a real person as Isaac's girlfriend to motivate him, while doing the same to Isaac himself. I've said this before, but while some parts of the OG game I liked more, this is still surprisingly great!

Man they really did this remake right! Same outcome but told in a different way with issac speaking and including cross in this scene! 10/10 remake!!!!!

It's interesting how they changed the meaning of the "such a little thing" line from the original. In the original, it didn't mean much ("In the end, it all comes down to one little thing" before revealing the syringe), but here in the remake, she's referring to Mercer's desire to make the Hive Mind have the ability to properly communicate. Not just talk at us with Marker Signals and hallucinations, but actually hear what we say back and converse. Communication with a form of intelligence is something we take for granted, but I feel like its makes the Hive Mind all the more terrifying. It's not some beast that instinctively craves something like convergence, but because that's just what it (and the Brethren Moons by extension) simply WANT.

That's a very fascinating and interesting change made to the story. While the outcome was similar, at least it was varied in such a way that it differed from what we had known and was expecting to happen in a remake.

Poor cross and Isaac

Man, now i wish Cross would've survived with Isaac, would've been an interesting plot.

I notice when Nicole said "make this stop" it said it listened. Kendra said "make it stop" x2 when the marker pulsed and affected everyone. Is this new lore or a coincidence?

British runner said that Isaac knew that Nicole was dead all along when he received her recording but because of their last conversation his guilt pretty much suppressed the part where Nicole committed suicide

Suppose this brings up the question of was Cross experiencing the make us whole speeches from Issac while believing him to be Jacob?

It does make more sense in the remake to have it done this way, but I never really considered the OG game to be a plothole. The marker makes people see what they want to see and manipulates them. It could even do the same for the necros. Even though I never waited to see if the OG Nicole ghost could be killed even on replays.

You know... when I finally got to this part, I was expectating the same thing to play out like the original version. But then it suddenly hit me, I immediately realise "wait a minute... where's Cross? are we gonna leave her out?". But then after scene of watching the Vid log of Nicole killing herself, BAM, Cross is right there which apparently we somehow see her as Nicole. I was like "Oh! There she is" then I start to realise she's probably gonna die. And sure enough, gets gunned down by Kendra. Very impressive for Cross in this remake version to survive all the way to the end of the game. Shame, I wonder what would it be like to escape Aegis 7 planet with another survivor.

I feel like Kendra knows that Isaac is in denial that Nicole is dead. Isaac actually have the full video log and did watched it before but he's in denial that she's dead, where he volunteers to fix the Ishimura to make sure the video is not real. Kendra just forced Isaac to watch the entire video log to wake him up from his hallucination that she's truly dead.

This game really telegraphed the twist even more. Not sure when Kendra saw the whole video but she got suspicious of seeing Nicole very early on this time.

3rd playthrough is an unpopular opinion. I wouldn't say I like the change of having Cross be Nicole to manipulate Isaac.

I don’t like they made Isaac 45 because if you really look at dead space two and a dead space one he does not look 45 he looks like he’s 26 or 27 and Nicole from the old dead space definitely looks like she at the very least 30,29 or 28 herself but I love how they have Isaac talking in this one instead of Isaac being this like unrealistic coked out or stoned out of his mind grease monkey, you know, because imagine in the real world if dead space was real and you were Hammond would you want a stiff they can’t even talk in an emergency situation can’t even you sign language can’t even text you simple yes or no or I will do that boss on his rig link can’t even talk like a normal person when supposedly he’s got no impediment like he’s on some kind of drug and that’s why he can’t talk you know the the only thing that would’ve been slightly better where that was concerned was if we just had Isaac grunting, whenever Hammond or Kendra talked like in fallout one, if you set the intelligence score to one so this is a massive improvement but the only things I kind of didn’t like was the ADS cannon mission that shit they should’ve just kept that from the original the second a DS canon mission again should’ve just kept it from the original, and Isaac, being 45 and Nicole being someone’s grandma and there’s a good reason why I don’t like that because we want dead space 1 2and three to be remade we got dead space remake one we want dead space remake to now the big trouble with that is is that Isaac would be in his late or mid 50s by dead space two and Eli Langford was definitely not in her 50s she was at the very least in her 30s and or late 20s so that makes Isaac a sugar daddy, and then he’s a really old man of 64 by the time of dead space three and we definitely want a dead space 4 which is a conclusion so making Isaac that old from the first game utterly gigantic mistake and the other thing that was a missed opportunity would’ve been if we were going to make Isaac this old why not give him a teenage daughter and have Nicole be his wife and they’re both on the ship because that wouldn’t be too significantly different you know instead of his girlfriend he’s looking for his wife and his daughter and you meet Nicole actually the real one in the med lab in Michigan to wear Isaac would get ambushed in the Necro morph sort of looks like Nicole. It’s very badly deformed. So you could only realize that it was actually Nicole if you paid close attention to the video and compared them the video Isaac watched during the very beginning of the game, and you can suddenly hear very quiet voices in the background in a tiny distortion in the camera there’s no cinematography it’s not a cut scene when Isaac gets ambushed he just gets ambushed by what looks like a normal run-of-the-mill Necro morph with justice random shift to indicate that Isaac hallucinating a very subtle shift on the TV screen plus very subtle voices in the background, and this essentially represents a psychotic episode where Isaac knows that that was Nicole, but he refused to accept it, and he detached himself from reality and invented the fiction that Nicole is still alive

How does this make sense? Isaac is calling Elizabeth Nicole and she doesn't find it weird. Also why is she calling us Isaac if she thinks we're Jacob?

I prefer the original twist. Now, we have the issue of Cross teleporting around and walking through locked doors when it makes more sense that Isaac was hallucinating. It's just an unnecessary change, in my opinion.

This twist is honestly horrible. Instead of seeing Isaac finally deal with the reality of Nicole being dead while being voice acted, its quickly brushed aside to have him be concerned about crosses safety. This was the scene I was most looking forward too and they had to ruin it by trying to twist the twist.

Ok what is this? They completely ruined the twist.
