Horrible story ( i am a retired firefighter) What was the capacity of that bus!! Most like that are 40 and mostly children! 53 Adults is at least fully at the load limits or over and that can effect the handling and response to the accident. The drunk driver caused it but a small pickup shouldn't have taken out the bus unless it took out the driver side steering!

🇺🇸🤦🏽‍♂️Still They Shouldn’t Have Been Here! Period!

Few years ago, an idiot I went to school with hit my neighbors kids. The kid was riding his bike on the country road in front of his house, his Mom sitting on the porch watching him, the kid was approx 12 yrs old. When he heard the truck coming, he took his bike off the opposite side of the road in the grass near the ditch, 5'+ off the road. The drunk dirtbag went across the center line, across the other lane in the curve, off the road and hit the kid, help driving and dragged the body 130' down the road until it came out from under the truck, he kept driving. The cops found him the following day, charged with his 18th DUI and hit and run. He was sentenced to 7 years in prison. This is the messed up part! 5 months later my wife and I stopped at a C-store, as I was walking into the store, I met him coming out of the store with a case of beer. He went to a truck with no driver, sat the beer in passenger floor, got a beer out of the case, walked around to driver side, got in the truck and drove off. THAT'S HOW THE SYSTEM KEEPS PEOPLE ON THE ROAD SAFE! Same county a few years prior. A woman took 3 of her 4 kids to the grocery store while the one young son stayed home with his Dad. The man got a call that his wife and 3 young children were killed in auto accident. They were hit head on by a drunk illegal, never had a license, no insurance and had been arrested 6 times for DUI. But still on the streets driving drunk and killed a family!

Jail is not the answer. Not long term but short term. Obviously this is emotional mental health issues devastating our nation. In my town in Louisiana the last few weeks have been deadly, truly deadly!

Okay the accident is a sad issue. Why were they all on a bus going to work? Do they all live in the same place? I have seen legal immigrants working in this country and they have their own cars. I do know that farmworkers follow the harvest. So maybe it is one of those deals. But don't' those type of farms also provide temporary housing for traveling workers? I thought that was the type of requirement that Cesar Chavez enacted. Crop harvesting has always been the job for people who have no education or marketable skills. It could be hard back breaking work. Too bad our own youth are too lazy to do that type of work while getting an education.

Many cross the border every day on their way to work and go back to their homes in Mexico at quitting time. Others are here for a harvest season, or indefinitely as they follow the work from south to north. It’s not an easy life.
