I agree, and one thing that impresses me with this horror game is the fact that, unlike the others, here you actually have nothing to do, if it was real life. You're in a hotel, with a weirdo, you already know how it goes. Try to run off the road? Not for long because the guy in the van will get you. Anything you do will result in the same. It's so cool how they made that aswell.
I've noticed that when there are horror movies involving mentally disabled murderers, the murderer is always super strong and durable which is the scary part.
@TotallyNotAKiller I kinda had a feeling that's probably what the reason was. Guess that's why serial killers always seem to come off as having body builder levels of strength
Eh, it's a stereotype of "mental disorder= a danger to society". And people think an antagonist can't be dangerous if they're not strong in horror games, which is incorrect but it is what it is.
@microscreen studios yeah like, there hasnt really been a movie im aware of where the murderer is a normal guy whos just killing for shits and giggles. its always some dude whos slow and has been taken advantage of.
I have a theory that the diary was Dylan slowly giving into his murderous urges due to the brain damage caused from the fire as his insanity is likely referred as the “father” might just be a hallucination which could mean he has a multi personality disorder due to the fire (but I find your theory more likely)
This is such a wierd horror game. cause we have a smart protagonist that actually calls the police, but a murder whos also smart enough to know what to do when he hears a cop patrol is arriving soon.
Poor Dylan, he became the serial killer cannibal in the game and if he killed carol and ate her, he would end up cannibalising his own sister, not to mention the fact that he where’s that mask to cover his horrific burn scars on his face that he received from the house fire his own sister (carol) started in order to rid herself of her pimp of a mother who uses the money from selling her own daughter to pedos for only booze and alcohol and just being a narcissistic and abusive mother to her children.😢
I like to believe that Dylan's mentor is the Butcher from Stay Out Of The House, and maybe Mr Miller is the Butcher. I get the ruined version of the house used for Mr Miller's home could be a reused asset, but it seems to be more of a nod towards the idea.
This has a Halloween vibe to it. But I have a feeling Carol is also a murder, maybe experiences blackouts or just does it, more than likely to men and women who reminds her of her mother. Why? She lied to Susan about going to her parents home when there was no need to. For that to be true then at most her father's alive and has a new partner who took Carol in but not Dylan for some reason. -Secondly the gas station. Her wallet was there and no video footage of it. Perhaps she wasn't exactly worried about the motel owner being a creep but that there was video foot of her in the area where a murder had recently taken place.- 3rd we know that she's capable of killing a person as we see with her mother. But feels guilt for hurting the innocent, as in her brother (reason she may not have happened Susan who helped her). It would be interesting, no?
The corpses at the gas station are Carol's boyfriend and the woman mentioned at 1:11. Carol's boyfriend is the cashier working at the station, he also holds the key to the room where we found out Carol's wallet. I think that the killer after looking at Carol's wallet and found her at the motel, he recognized her sister and didn't kill her (comparing to others who got slaughtered immediately).
If there is a sequel I hope it does expand the story. Not just for the good ending but for the red sky in the bad ending. If you don't get the van keys then Dylan kills Susan and Carol and the whole part with the cop still happens only after Dylan dies, the sky turns red.
This was my take, Dylan, who became mentally impaired not knowing between what's right or wrong, lived with the psychopath Mr. Miller. I don't know how Dylan and Carol got separated but the camera did pan to Dylan when introducing him to Mr. Miller's house so carol must've lived somewhere else. Carol must've originally burnt the house down with her mother inside it, or the people that her mother was selling Carol to for whatever activities they do got violent. The game leaves a lot of stuff to be open for interpretation, so any theory is right in my eyes, this is just what I thought when I first saw the gameplay and this video.
when i watched the gameplay they skipped the part about mom selling carol, im assuming to prevent a youtube strike, but that REALLY threw me off i was thinking maybe she was burning the house for insurance money or something but selling your child? thats a different type of low.
Maybe someone already said this but... What if that super old diary actually belonged to the killer? His childhood diary? There was no... Falling out. He simply grew up and continued being a cannibal? Edit: Wait. Nevermind. He and Carol were adopted by a Mr Miller. These games have interesting stories...
Why would the killer remove Carol's clothes but leave her the van keys? Also, how did Carol not recognize the killer's house and mask? She was old enough to remember everything.
1. he probably just wanted to have her think she can could escape/toying with her since their situation/current relationship n all 2. some ppl say that the visions carol had (like the one where they go to millers house) was a hallucination but honestly, i dont think it was, mr miller probably saw how carol was smarter than dylan since she was the older of the two (also cuz dylan suffered brain damage) and she couldnt be manipulated, she obviously cared for her brother a lot and would have most likely tried to protect him from mr miller, he knew she would get in his way. So carol either had to be killed or sent back to the orphanage (maybe dylan clung on to her more/was more comfortable with her since he knew her as well so it wouldve been difficult for mill to change him, therefore he had to take away the last bit of comfort he had in order to make the process more easier). plus she literally burnt down a whole house cause she couldn't take her mother's crap anymore, she's... 'smart'. as for why carol didnt remember the house and the killer's mask? it could just be for plot convenience, perhaps she really did forget staying there.
@@jenniferchen612 No no its fine lol but honestly I fucking hate Carol's mother for letting her letting pedophiles tocth their children (dlyn (the killer) and Carol (the protagonist) )and plus on top of that she is the main reason why the game exist
hey idk if you read this and even think about it but have you tried like uhh... making a parody episode? like a completely non horror game and narrate it like a horror game? XD like for example Mario XD
I like to believe that, yes, while Dylan is still a sociopathic murderer with no sympathy, he still remembers the pain Carol had to endure at the hands of people like Mr. Shiny, and so he killed him before going to Carol.
