We are back with another spring walleye fishing video! In this video we are fishing in the Wisconsin fishing opener. In this video we start out fishing very shallow. After not getting a bite for an hour we change it up and catch a bunch of quality walleyes. I talk about fishing jerk baits for suspending walleyes on forward facing! Thanks for watching!

Tom, I love your Walleye Now App and your inspiring videos. It has taken a while but I have now upgraded my fishing electronics to include a second Helix 12, a second side imaging transducer, Mega 360, a new Mega Live, and a dedicated 100 amp hour lithium battery. It’s finally time to dial in the forward-facing sonar and add it to my arsenal! 🤩 I SO appreciate the valuable insights and knowledge you provide to fellow anglers. Thank you for the difference you are making in the fishing community! (Or perhaps I should be cursing you for costing me so much money!!!) 🤣🤣🤣

Long time subscriber. Great information as always. Slack water, Walleyes moved out off weed edge and foraged on bait balled up. Your blend of Mega Live with your commentary (10:30 mark for your jerk bait and pausing) pure video GOLD. Thanks as always for the time and effort you put in; we are huge fans in MN. It's like sitting in the boat with a guide.

Hey Tom. Been enjoying your videos pretty much since the beginning. Your Jigging rap video in the bright shorts was what got us hooked! 😂 We have been using a different version of this jerk bait method in warmer temps on saugeye in central Ohio. I don't have forward facing sonar yet, so we generally make longer casts to cover water until we get them cornered. I have found that doctored (weighted with lead golf tape) #11 and 13 Berkely Hit Sticks snapped hard, basically walking the dog like a muskie lure, can be deadly on saugeye. It is amazing how they can chase that lure down! I actually made it work on a reef on Lake Winnebago while visiting my parents a couple years ago when other people were really struggling to catch fish. I see no reason why it would not work up north under the right water temp and structure. Keep the great videos coming!!

Awesome understanding of what will get walleyes to bite in any environment. What style of snap or knot are you using on the suspending crankbait to allow the bait to fool the fish on the long pause? Master Class material. Must have app.

Question for you Tom. In a situation like this when you are searching a larger area to target fish, what are you doing with your boat speed? I feel like if you move too slow then it might take a long time to find fish. If you move too fast, you might find some fish on FFS but it's difficult to keep targeting them as you try to cast and slow down. Do you have any tips or advice on boat control? Thanks!

Curious question, I’m over here on Lake Erie and been trying to fly fish for walleye from my kayak, been lucky enough to catch one in three trips out in the evening/night. But I don’t have a fish finder/side imaging or anything like that. Any tips on finding fish without that equipment??

Agree, your knowledge seems limitless,....Hence my question: Going to cottage next week end, on Winnipeg River system, water is still weed free, fairly clear and flow is fairly slow. Sadly I have still a lot things to get done before 'the crowd descend', so am wondering what technique would you use -just off the dock with coffee or beer during my breaks between chores?

Tom, I may have asked this question previously, but being 73 years 'young', I'm forgetful. Has the DNR or any fisheries biologist marked and released walleyes to determine their survival rates when recovered by fishers or biologists? Given you catch and release hundreds of walleyes annually, you'd be an excellet citizen scientist-fisher to participate in this research to understand if hook and release influences survival. Best, Rick Kaminski (former Manitowoc, WI resident)

i fish off shore most of the time and i want to get some jerk baits that would work well in 3-5 feet of water. what do you suggest as a model? i use a lot of plastics and rippin raps, but there are times i've seen a stick bait work better. Many still use the old tried and true countdown rap but they sink to fast to twitch and pause, better on a straight retreive.
