There is an art to being an MC. Yeah you can pretty much get away with shouting any old bollocks (see H.P Baxxter) but the job isn't to tell the audience when to dance, it's to tell the audience what to do ("aye yo, I wanna see you guys clap your hands" "EVERYBODY SCREEEEEAM" ), hype them up ("YOU'LL HAVING A GOOD TIME?! HOLD ON TIGHT!"), and maybe rap a few random bars from time to time. In other words, you're not holding the hands of the audience, you're hyping them up.
