It's funny how distorted things are. "Skrillex and Deadmau5 were big friends" "Skrillex and Deadmau5 now hate each other". None of this is true. They were certainly friends but nothing that close, Joel made that clear many times. And this "beef" they're on, it's not as intense as media is trying to make it look like. Both Joel and Sonny have commented on that and there's no big disrespect. Deadmau5's song parody is "throwing negativity"? Come on. It's a joke, Skrillex even said he liked it.
+LuPe everyone is doing their job here, joel is sick of people not doing shit and getting all the credit for it AND people like Skrillex letting them do that, but its nothing agaisnt skrillex because its just who he is and his personality. and the interviewer, the writters for magazines, websites and radios like this one are doing their job distorting the meaning and exploding some meaningless thing out of porpotion for views/fame/money what i realy disliked about this interview in particular is how he talked about music for 5 seconds, said some big names and then proceded to FORCE skrillex talk shit because he couldnt say anything else, and only speak of controversy in the end, the best thing you can do is call out these fucks for distorting the meaning and support good music (whatever you think it is)
We don't have to like that it's these radio and magazine clowns' job to be slimy sacks of shit on purpose. It's a defense lawyer's job to make sure their client faces as little punishment, if any at all, no matter how heinous the crime they truly committed. We don't have to like it just because it's what they choose to do to make money.
he was making fun of his song, that between producers is like war, and knowing his opinion, it was never a joke. skrillex sayin that is he taking it calmly, not that he actually liked it lmao
@@ihavenoidea1260 but Skrillex does have credits on the record ! It's not like he's giving away what he did, it's written everywhere if you look it up but because he doesn't do lots of interviews because maybe out of feeling uncomfortable, he doesn't get the '' public '' recognition enough but for people who follow he's work, they know exactly what he's been doing
I don't condone Skrillex calling deadmau5 out as an asshole, but he's not lying when he says Joel's attitude has changed dramatically in recent years. He has become quite negative, but I don't think Skrilly is getting the full story here. Joel said he was confused why Skrillex would go down the commercial pop route when he had already established himself well as a unique, talented artist. Skrillex now has to appeal to the masses and gets much less creative freedom because of pressure from the label and the press. Joel worries about this. He assumes Skrillex is doing it for the popularity and the extra big paycheck. He wonders what's more important to Skrillex now, and creating that skit was his way of saying that Skrilly isn't using his creativity to the fullest any more and he wants him to be himself again. They're both in the wrong in some ways. It's not quite black and white.
Juan Lisoborsky Yeah. Back in 2014? I actually kinda enjoyed that. He was experimenting with a style that was very different to what he usually did. But come 2015 and Jack U... he changed for the worst imo to adapt his music to a pop format. And the people he ended up working with... There are some people you just shouldn't collab with. And I think Diplo is one of them. Skrillex sounds not one bit like he used to.
***** My worry is that it comes from pressure, working with the likes of Diplo and Justin Bieber who I hear aren't particularly great people to work with. If it's experimentation, I can't blame him but if it's giving in to the pressure of pop culture and just doing what the general population and the record label wants (or just for the money even, though I highly doubt that's the case), I hope he breaks out of it. Nothing is worse than doing something because of pressure and not because of passion. Pop music is heavily controlled by labels, radio, press, expectations and whatnot. Never one bit expected him to turn pop.
Yeah and that's what people do. It's no different if me and a coworker started going at it over social media but when two individuals that have 1 million+ followers people lose their minds.
Okay, two things. 1) *POP* filters are your friend! 2) When you're censoring, actually mute the swear and _then_ add the 1kHz tone to fill silence. This way you won't *deafen your audience trying to just drown out the swear!* This is broadcasting 101, guys.
deadmau5 is the only honest person in edm these days... skrillex is a sell out not because he is making money but because he is making decisions based on money.
+Matt Ward or maybe the fact that skrillex will never put down another artist no matter what people think of them, maybe it's because of his bullying history or whatever. he's a already a multi millionaire and is only getting richer everyday, i don't money is his motivation, never appeared that way to me at least . Joel focuses too much on what others are doing in my opinion, he's not the only one with an Opinion, he just likes to make his public, and often don't like the backlash he receives. but given recent confirmations about his struggles with depression i can understand why.
+Matt Ward Everyone makes decisions based on money when it comes to their job. He lives off of his income he makes from his music, don't fault him for caring about that.
If Skrillex is a sellout, then why are most of his songs since Jack Ü Riddim Dubstep? That's even less popular than Brostep, which is the only kind of Dubstep that the mainstream people even know about. I'm talking about Badman, Red Lips, Burial, Make a Move
skrillex is a cool dude... so chill and humbled... deadmau5 is a cool dude too he just seems like hes not an incredibly optimistic dude... plus hes a computer gamer.. he cant help it... it turns you into a troll lol
The mau5 has been dealing with depression lately that explains his negative attitude, btw, serach on youtube "deadmau5 explains twitter rant" Hes pretty honest and i think hes right
Oh God I've converted to PC recently and I've been on gaming forums for a while, so I knew what was coming, but I still wasn't prepared for that much lenny spam
And since when the fuck do artists give a fuck about another's personality? This isnt fucking reality television, it's vision. This is fucking astonishing
I think its skrillex attitude that has changed, its like hes becoming more diva like in his view on this. Yes deadmau5 is a bit bitter but usually its cause he has a low tolerance to bullshit. Lets not sugar coat the fact that skrillex (while I was never a big fan of his at all) had this sort of balls to the wall crazy, if nothing unique, type of music and has just collabed with the fucking kid who brought you "baby". Justin bieber, while his singing voice has matured (i'll give him that), has a piss poor pop princess spoiled attitude and does not have any respect in the serious music community. Skrillex and diplo are trying to pass it off as "just a collab" and they are being creative and experimental, but they could have got anyone to do that vocal but for some reason targeted this fucking kid who has nothing but a toxic atmosphere surrounding him and is a packaged pop product aimed at young girls with access to their parents itunes account. They were basically begging for this type of critique (and yea joels was as usual was no holds barred) so why are they so upset now that they got it and are trying to flip the gun around on joel and calling him bitter.
Let's forget about conspiracy and "beef" and cut this entire situation. Deadmau5: Self-conscious, brutally honest and angry. Skrillex: Small, quiet and attention seeking. Neither of them or wrong, neither of them can help it. It just caused an inevitable problem. Big deal.
The reason I like Joel so much is because he keeps it real. Even with the amount of hits he's made or the money, he doesn't change. He makes what he wants to and we all know with his talent he could make a crazy beat with some hype vocal artist like bieber to profit but he doesn't. That's not what it's about for him.
deadmau5 is one of the only EDM producers who can call himself an "artist". Because art is an expression of yourself. He makes all of his shit and gives credit ONLY when its due. Other producers, Skrills included, let the industry mold their music instead. When you buy shit from deadmau5, it's full of fucking heart, culture, and hints at his overall long term emotions. When you buy shit from Skrillex nowadays, it's an attempt at pleasing. At least that's how I feel when I listen to their music, but opinions carry more weight than facts.
Funny thing is Skrillex had Where Are You Now AND all the Jack U songs, Deadmau5 hasnt put out a mainstream album in like...3 years, and Joel is STILL worth more than Skrillex lol hell NO were not getting tired of Deadmau5 lmao he just says whats on EVERYBODYS mind.
Why are we starting flame wars about artists' personalities? This is so petty. I think we (myself included) all need to get offline and just listen to the MUSIC.
Skrillex is dope for trying new shit and making money off of trying new things to reach new levels and audiences. DeadMau5 is a tweeker, a talented one but still he's just jealous of the success
Yeah, that makes sense, a person's personality overshadows their music. That's how I feel about Beethoven--he was such an asshole that it overshadows the 9th fucking symphony. Yeah right. Skrillex might get credit for dubstep in the future, but I bet you deadmau5 will come out on top. No hate to Skrillex but that's just how I see it.
Skrillex is a sell out, I liked his earlier stuff but most his new junks is just horrible. But while I sit back and listen to Aphex Twin it reminds me of why I dislike this new era of pop-electro bull shit. Aphex is the one of a few that turned me on to electronic music and it is originality at its finest. If only these whipper snappers knew, if only they knew...
0:29 we dont hate "where are you now" because its mainstream, we hate it beacuse its bullshit and its so basic, and we hate ite it even more because we know that skrillex its not a retaarded, and hi is actually someone with tons of talent, and he just dissapoint us, we where specting him to innovate even more in the artistic world, but now he is just the fucking surfboard of JB into the Wave of EDM. THAT´S WHY WE HATE "WHERE ARE YOU NOW"
the choices skrillex makes for his music have no impact on deadmau5 at all. i understand the points hes making but ultimately if you are the one who truly follows what you're saying, thats all that should matter. Skrillex had every right to call Joel out.
it sucks hearing the truth. deadmau5 has a truth that is hard to hear. skrillex has his own truth, he just worked with a tool and now is being put on blast for it. i heard mau5 mad about a loss in potential and letting someone like beiber color his paper. just accept you work with kids and are being laughed at for it. mau5 says the hard truth about what happened, he is just butt hurt about it. its not a supruse. we all watched are favs sell out. skrillex is a media tool and lives attention despite his humble apearance. i would like to hear skrillex talk about being a crutch for young artist he works with.
It wasn't negative from what I heard, Deadmau5 was just expressing his appoint. It is good that Skrillex doesn't take it personally because it wasn't meant to be.
Honestly it basically comes down to if you are an optimist or a pessimist if you are on Sonny or Joel's side. I have to give props to Sonny for having such a mature attitude towards the whole ordeal. I don't think he's lost any artistic integrity by working with JB. I think that actually means he's a very humble artist. Besides Joel and his whole Deadmau5 brand are losing relevancy as edm gets more complex and hes still making 2008 music.
Yeah except Joel says it like it is, and he is 100% right. He doesn't care if he gets trashed on, as he already stated "I've already tried to ruin my career once" and despite all the shit he gets involved in he is STILL one of the BIGGEST and most paid producers out there and is STILL going strong. Can't say the same for many other producers that came out around the same time as him.
Joel only tells the truth although sometimes he tosses the others, Skrillex is pained to know that what Deadmau says is true, that collaboration with Justin is only for money
I don't think skrillex is selling out. Just evolving. As a person and a musician. I mean shit, did you listen to the same music as you do now six or seven years ago? I know. I don't. lol I feel like the same applies to musicians. The taste and creativity evolves like anyone else's. I loved his originality back when he was on his own 5 years ago, and I love his rap collaborations and his songs with Jack U now. The only thing that doesn't change in life, is that things change.
So basically Sonny just mocked Joel as a leader and said he's just a negative person. Just because he's right and tells the truth... Also sonny saying he's secure in himself is bs when you see his insecure reaction to the parody song.
There is no room for criticism in pop culture, any attempt of doing so is strawmaned as negativity. Anyone that devalues your legitimate criticism on the basis of subjective value is the exact person that added this skrillex song to their Playlist. Your passion for creative expression is not leveled out because some douche has ears and can spout his song preference as if the differences between mediocrity and greatness don't exist. Deadmau5 is the type of guy to push you toward greatness. Not be that guy who pats you on the head for making a sub standard song for the masses. That's all it is. Don't get me wrong fostering positive relationships in the music industry is important but it's not as important as establishing a standard with your peers. If you truly enjoy music that is pushing the boundaries then you can't just label people who are critical of pop music as negative. It"s not all sunshine and lollipops. It's draining, it's exhausting but damn is it ever satisfying to deliver a high quality album that you are proud of. The music industry doesn't evolve if we don't have a desire for excellence. It's just sad that pop culture often times circumvents this whole idea in favor of profitability and bottom line. It's just sad to see sonny not pushing himself to release an album that rivals his previous work, I loved recess. That album was experimental, creative, fresh. Everything you would want from an artist like skrillex. Just don't expect your passionate fan base to love the music that you don't put your heart into. It's that simple.
Dude at least he doesnt hate him. Did anyone heard about Skrillex's answer on Twitter? (It was this fucking year) On deadmau5 tweet about why he taked a break from music. Skrillex replied with a heart and that means he remember deadmau5 and his support and Skrill is an adult, it has been 3 years of the drama, and he doest have resentment with Mau5. Im not the skrillexer who hates deadmau5, I love Joel and Sonny and in my opinion they both were right at the fight.
I get deadmau5, I do. But soony is very open minded. He always evolves. Joel speaks the truth, no doubt. But he can be a whiny dick sometimes. I've never heard of soony having a attitude. While I will say his style isn't what he started out as. He still is hands down the most down to earth guy in the edm industry and is an amazing showman, that's all I can say.
Why no one says Bieber went from pop to EDM? Cuz he's "more free" than an EDM artist to work with different people? Double standards everywhere... And I'm pretty sure Slrillex was not starving before the two records with Justin, so the money argument is irrelevant. Oh, and what about Diplo? Why doesn't everyone say he changed because of money? Cuz people criticize just the best ones sometimes (no offense to Diplo).
Deadmau5 is more successful than Skrillex STILL for one reason, and thats because his fanbase still LOVES him and everything he stands for. Skrillex had to 100% ride Diplo's coattails to stay relevant and its sad as hell. And good LORD no Jack U is a pathetic excuse for edm
I think Deadmau5 catches feelings about Skrillex, because Skrillex is overall better at making innovative new styles. While Mau5 pretty much keeps making the same music that he's been making since he's became famous. Skrillex's production is far more interesting to me.
Am I the only one who kind of feels both sides of this? I get why Joel is bothered by this because yeah wtf does Justin Bieber do why should he get so much credit for this album buuuuut I also think where are you now was a good song and I understand why Skrillix would take the opportunity to work on something fun that would make money like that... Biebs is a meat puppet with some nice vocals
Skrillex gotta make money man. BUT, with his position and networth, why would he resort to making a track with Justin just to sell out and make bank? If people see past and even recent skrillex interviews hes honest, humble, true to his craft and shit. Skrill doesnt hate justin bieber so why say no to an acapella he got from him to be on a track? At the end of the day I dont think skrill obsesses over how much money he wants to get from a track. I think he just doesnt care about whos on his track or how his track sounds to others. as long as it sounds good he ok.
Look what the americans are doing with the EDM industry, bickering like a bunch of kids on twitter etc. You don't get the carl coxs', sashas and digweeds banging on like this.
5 Years ago was this defending Hip Hop and all that generic genre, look right now what happens 5 years later everyone it's getting tired of listen that crap of trap music.
Skrillertz is dabes. We all know dead mow is dickhard. Fack dead mow count to 5. Skrilly is dabom, only sellout is mouse who sold out to the glory of me me me.
skrillex talking about deadmau5 shows he's actually a good guy, i respect deadmau5 and i have liked his music for a long time, but he does have a habit of spreading unnessesary negativity. im not a fan of skrillex's music but i gained some respect for him for being humble and having an overall good attitude
