the thing I came to like about Ryan, is that, he does NOT NEED TO MAKE MOVIES. He is so rich outside of acting it's insane to why he stays around to act. Yet he does, and has carefully looked after the Deadpool character for many years now. It tells me, Ryan really does just want to make good DP movies. He came to the MCU understanding what these characters mean to Marvel fans, and knows how to give us what we want in a good way. I never lost faith in Kevin Feige, but having Ryan come over and Hugh is just outstanding news for Marvel fans.
@natejones873
@natejones873 Месяц назад
I think he’s the perfect Deadpool because this is the role that his self aware stock Reynolds character works the best in. Let’s admit he’s limited in range. He’s one of the biggest actors working today but he literally just does the same character in just about every role. It works here but can feel very forced just about everywhere else (red notice anyone?)
@jrub8937
@jrub8937 Месяц назад
I agree that Ryan acts to make good movies, but he does still have a good reason to aside from money: keeping his name relevant! He has stake in and/or owns: a gin company, an advertising platform, a cellular network provider, a football team, etc. If his name fades from public view then that will affect the performance of these ventures he owns. I don't want to diminish the fact that he loves making movies just to make them, just want to highlight that while he doesn't need the direct paycheck from these movies seeing as he's rich, he does have another interest in continuing to act that isn't just passion for the craft

Deadpool and Wolverine was honestly really great and enjoyable imo, and definitely one of the highest points of the post-Endgame MCU so far. Rather than just being a multiverse-hopping cameo fest, which it is to a degree, it feels like a love-letter to the Fox Marvel films in general and both shows respect and care for it as much as it also makes fun of it. This also has probably some of the best directed action scenes I’ve seen in an MCU film as well, with the last fight scene in particular being a definite treat. There were some minor issues I had (I do think the new Logan’s backstory could’ve been explored better, rather than it just being told and not shown to us), but overall it’s the most fun I’ve had in theaters all year and I’m largely considering seeing it again.

When he did his review for, let’s say for the sake of this argument, Avengers: Endgame, did you really think there was a chance of him reviewing it negatively?
@MelMelodyWerner
@MelMelodyWerner Месяц назад
yeah, he doesn't. it's a fair stance to take and there's a litany of other film reviewers in the same vein who are incredibly negative. y'all gotta let this go. I for one enjoy a different perspective that does hew more positive and that does make overtures to show love and respect to the filmmakers. I'm kinda tired of "let's call artists incompetent instead of criticizing the movie without getting weirdly personal about it", and this is a nice counterweight to that. there's also just value in exactly what you're saying in your comment-we know it's something he likes to some degree when he drops a review. if you're more interested in recommendations, you know just from his vid on a given film existing that he thinks it's something worth watching. but ultimately, if his heart's not in it anymore re: making negative reviews, he shouldn't do them. anyone who wants those can go to any one of the literal thousands of alternatives.

1. I will say that while the movie was enjoyable it did start to feel long-ish for me in act two and three. D&W probably could have been about 15 minutes shorter if there was less thought fingering. 😅 I wish they could have re-allocated a few more Nova minutes to Blind Al, and generally speaking, I felt like the movie had so much going on with the two title characters that it lost a lot of the ensemble magic, despite copious and wonderful cameos. 2. The start and stop pacing didn't sit well with me, I think it's why the movie felt longer than it was. And while I love the concept of Wade's opening fight with unconventional weapons (might be my favorite of the film), something about the gore effects and didn't land in the way that they did for the first Deadpool. There's so many fantastical comic elements going on in the film that I was kind of hoping the gore would be a little more practical, and the fact that the opening CGI was so heavy was a little jarring. 3. I love that Hugh Jackman is so synonymous with Wolverine that they even put a crack in there about him hiding his body because he's been going through it with his (real life) divorce, only to run out the gag later with a "nope, still got it."

Based off the trailers, I was just expecting D&W to be a mediocre movie with a lot of fan service and a lot of R-rated "fuck this and that". While D&W did do exactly that, the movie certainly exceeded expectations in many areas. Ryan Reynolds's Deadpool was super annoying, where unless you're 13 years old you'll want to shoot Deadpool after 5mins, which is perfect; _exactly_ how Deadpool should be. I was actually surprised with how much Disney let Reynold's get away with. Some of his quips were really clever, and because it gets really meta, it's difficult to catch it all. Hugh Jackman's varient of Wolverine has never been in a lower place, and it was so good to see him back in action again. I would have preferred more "show don't tell" for Wolverine's backstory, but at least Jackman held the tension well. And as for the cameos, goodness, who saw that coming!! Overall, W&D had a bonafide Deadpool-vibe, some good action sequences, and a good way to cover the Fox Universe. After watching the movie, I want to watch it all over again, and I think that's one of the best compliments an audience member can ever give a film.

@fendelphi
@fendelphi Месяц назад
I believe the DPF(Deadpool's Friends) are not that much in the movie, because they are not needed "in the movie". We know them. We know they are important to him and that they are there. But they would be of no assistance to what is going to happen and it would make no sense to write the movie in a way to try and include them more than they already are.

@@fendelphi that makes sense. What I was also trying to say was that it would've been nice to see Logan interacting with Deadpool's party. I mean come on, Colossus and Logan were in the same room and those two have huge history together. It would've been nice to see Logan interacting with Negasonic and/or Yukio too. Logan interacted with Al but it was only for like 3 seconds. But like I said, I enjoyed the movie a lot.

I don’t know if I was just sleepy from working too much or what, but the first half of the movie felt a little lackluster to me. The Deadpool humor was getting a little tedious, and the setup was a little too long and confusing. Also, I have to be honest, even Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine felt tired at first. BUT, once Jackman kicked into his redemption gear, I’d say from the minute he slo-mo steps out of the back of the car, the movie got good, like REALLY good! I found myself laughing, cheering, and even choking back a tear or two by the end.

I loved the movie. The action, the humor (for the most part), the music choices, and the cameos all worked well. So many big ones that showed up that had me and my audience cheering loudly; haven’t been to one like that since No Way Home or even Endgame. There was one cameo that I loved seeing but at the same time was kinda irritated on how they got rid of him (it struck a nerve on my childhood). But considering how much this actor might cost (Deadpool even jokes about it) and how early he shows up, I get why they did it. It would’ve been better if he survived and had his cameo later on but oh well. I gave it an 8.75 out of 10. Oh, and that end credits montage was so damn touching.
