How safety experts uncovered a fatal flaw that had put millions of travellers at risk. Air Safety investigator David Gleave explains the inside story behind a devastating crash.
I read the accident report about a year later. It was a combination of a mis-rigged elevator cable and tail-heavy passenger load, although the CG was in limits for a properly rigged plane.
I love Air Crash Investigations but i hate the episodes when the title of the episode kinda gives it away... I mean DeadWeight. As soon as you see that, you know that there was some weighting problem which caused the nose to come up.
They didn't push forward at all, neither dropped flaps to avoid stalling, let the nose get up by itself. The plane was flown safely 5 times before. They just pushed down before and didn't stall.
I saw it, it was bad maintance. the screw for the horizontal stabilazor was to tight so she couldnt pitch down for a good angle of attack. So the plane stalled, it was to close by at the ground so a Stall recovery couldnt be done.
yes AmphibiousFries, a woman in the pilot seat is EXACTALLY what caused this accident....that's why it was tail heavy...women statistically weigh less than men...very good observation
the reason why the nose pitched up not because fat people because of the cabels that controll the direction of the were not the same length and the captin was a little patient and took too long about take so takeoff speed was to high
@RookieMickey I can assure you that is not true.. Why should this 'woman' as call her not have a proper feel for the plane? I was taught by a female instructor who was one of the best pilots I have met. Also some of the basic training we are given as pilots is all about weights & centre of gravity of the plane. It makes a HUGE difference, espcially on smaller aircraft, like this one is. Don;t even go there saying women pilots are not as good, Patty Wagstaff would have something to say about that
Now this is very interesting. It's just to bad it never came on soon, or hadn't watch it before I crashed on my flight simulator. You see, I was going to Tahiti form Honolulu, Hawaii, and withen 15 miles from the safety of the runway, I cashed!! The cause was an imbalance in the weight setting I set my plane with. I fly the Boeing 737-800.
@marcopilotify Come on man... just let the girls cooking while we take care of the cable instalation! How many women do you see doing really great behind the whell? they are normally busy with someting more interesting..
That is our (men) fault. If we have never agreed the same rights and conditions to women, they would keep taking care of the kids an cooking, like the old fashion way. And when a plane crash happened, we could investigate if that was an human mistake or a equiment failure.
