When a woman asked Jesus about different ways of worshiping, Jesus replied, "A time is coming and has now come when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth" (John 4:23, NIV). Worshiping "in spirit" means that you mean it; that you're worshiping inside out, not just going through the motions. Worshiping "in truth" means that you're worshiping the true God. And it means you're being truthful with your words and thoughts that you bring to worship; you're not trying to put on a religious act to impress someone. Music is a very tiny part of worship and not required. Unless it's a man whose heart is full of music and he wants to share that with means of worshipping -- that makes sense. But to bark and clap your mouth or move your arms around -- believing that you are doing your worship is seriously flawed and lack of faith in God. But nonetheless, I'm an atheist and all of this work is nonsense. "The new education must be less concerned with sophistication than compassion. It must recognize the hazards of tribalism. It must teach man the most difficult lesson of all-to look at someone anywhere in the world and be able to see the image of himself. The old emphasis upon superficial differences that separate peoples must give way to education for citizenship in the human community. With such an education and with such self-understanding, it is possible that some nation or people may come forward with the vital inspiration that men need no less than food. Leadership on this higher level does not require mountains of gold or thundering propaganda. It is concerned with human destiny. Human destiny is the issue. People will respond." -- Norman Cousins
