you're only calling them a hipster band because their album did really well and ended up on "mainstream" sites with really good reviews. the music is flawless you can't deny that.
flawless but becomes repetitive after a few days. brutal none the less, but it becomes stale. You can only have so many blast beats before the songs mush into one noisy track. still like em, but they don't vary too much with ideas
Neal Zetek not everyone is a hipster in 2014.. a hipster is a whiny child-like adult, often a beta-male who is being supported in life by the same parents who didn't discipline them enough. Incidentally, Deafheaven is awesome...
Amazing show. George is legitimately scary and charming on stage, but totally humble and approachable and nice off stage. Almost Bowie-like when he turns it on.
deafheaven's music is absolutely beautiful, regardless of if the guys who play it are "hipster" or whatever. however, something we can all agree on is that it's really fucking dumb that kids are going around talking about black metal and how cool it is, yet have never heard of gorgoroth, bathory, venom, immortal, etc. deafheaven just bridges the gap between oldschool black metal and popularized music. they are young, they are much more similar to kids today.
+nolan marchi I don't see how any of their music can appeal to the masses. It still has blast beats, and screaming vocals. Not to mention reading the lyrics takes some serious time and thought.
i never really understood why the hipster kids like them, that's why i just see them as bridging the gap between black metal and popular music through their fanbase
really fucking spectacular music. this would be absolutely phenomenal if there wasn't a vocalist. and i mean that in all the best and most respectful ways.
give the singer a break...he is cool,,,,,,,,,but love the SHIT outa the band.....best thing since at the drive in ... jesus lizard.... fuckin FUGAZI ...the guys have a future..:)
