Just saw them live last night and they played this and honeycomb and so many other great songs. Fucking amazing show. The guitarist is one of the best musicians I've even seen. Reminded me of when I saw Angus from ACDC back in 08. Such raw talent. Holy Fawn the openers were insanely good as well, check em out if you like deafheaven.

I saw Deafheaven open for Alcest in 2012, so this makes sense. Other modern bands that have made dramatic heavy-to-dreamy progressions are Constants and Turnover, not to mention Swervedriver, Deftones, Catherine Wheel, and many more ‘90s bands.

A lot of bands chang their style to try to appeal to a wider audience and it comes down to just wanting more money..... Most people call that selling out not actually maturing..... Unless you consider the greater desire for money as being more mature..... I just found this band and this guy told me about them gave me some of their original stuff which was really hardcore metal..... Even though this music here is beautiful it is definitely a band that has lost their roots and appealing to the masses.....

I *assume* that this is just a dip into the shoegaze genre for Deafhaven. It really allows us to appreciate Clarke's beautiful lyrics. However, even if this is just a dip, it represents a metamorphosis that we seldom see in bands. Talk Talk transitioned from new wave to ambient jazz in 1988 (I Believe In You). Tears For Fears creeped into Sade-style quiet storm jazz in 1989 (Woman In Chains, Advice For The Young At Heart). This is one of those transformations.

Fantano just doesn’t like modern shoegaze. Post-rock as a whole these days just seems to rub him the wrong way. The man gave Ohms a 3. As I recall he also trashed the new Slowdive and was seriously lukewarm on the new Hum, both of which were pretty well-received by fans and general audiences, myself included. He’s definitely not going to be well-disposed towards a band that left black metal for shoegaze.

Não conhecia a banda conheci graças ao novo álbum que será lançado agora nesse mês, fui ouvir os álbuns mais antigo da banda, e veja não gosto do estilo death metal (mesmo sabendo que eles se encaixam no estilo blackgaze, porem os vocais guturais estão lá) mas ainda assim curte o som deles em seus álbuns passado, o instrumental é muito bom e a performance do George Clarke é única ao vivo, ansioso por esse novo álbum.

Amazing. The clip reminds me of course of the tryptic Wonderwall/Champagne Supernova/Don't look back in Anger. But also the clip and the music reminds me of the music and video clip of this amazing US shoegaze/alt rock band of the begining of the 90s : Drop Nineteens - Winona. Deafheaven seems to encapsulate in their new album the best of US and UK 80's and 90's music : an hybrid crossover between shoegaze (Slowdive, MBV, Ride, Catherine Wheel), jangle/arty pop (The Smiths, Stone Roses), alternative rock (Pavement, Built to Spill, Sonic Youth), post-punk (The Cure, The Chameleons). But the most important : it does sound like a Deafheaven album, even without the extreme metal elements. That's greatness. Game over.

Easily my favourite label, alongside Southern Lord. The fact that you guys have released Boris and Deafheaven stuff is really awesome. Two of my most favourite bands of all time.

I profoundly love this song and The Gnashing but... Although I like musical evolutions, I'm still confused about this change. I miss blast beats and screams. Hope there will be a few on the new record! Dream House, Vertigo, Baby Blue, Gifts for the Earth, Honeycomb... I miss also this side!
