This model is so cool. I didn't know that anyone made a kit like this. Just a tip or FYI, when you were painting the crates, you sprayed them with hairspray to"protect" them? Hairspray is not even a last choice for "protectant". It works great as a chipping fluid, but not as a clear coat to protect previous paint layers. Things like actual clear coats, top coats and varnish are what you should use for "protectants". If the model ends up in a region that regularly experiences high humidity it can end up effecting the subsequent paint layers.
Christopher, standing ovation my friend! I will definitely be using some of your idea's on my DeAgostini Falcon. Thanks for being so generous in sharing your modification idea's. Your Build is by far the best I have seen on You Tube and I seriously doubt anyone else is going to top what you have done with yours. Again, thanks for sharing your fantastic idea's! All the best
Thank you for the kind comments. It's the most fun I've ever had working on a kit. My dream kit really. And if my videos give people ideas to improve upon their own, that's just awesome. Enjoy your kit and have a blast.
Your modeling skills are scary/awesome. Your attention to the small details and your innovative solutions to improving a kit are unparalleled. Subscribed.
I like the trick with the mirror to extend the corridor. :) In my Falcon, I managed to experience a "happy accident". I was in the hardware store and was thinking about my Falcon's interior, and how I wanted to have a much bigger internal layout than the kit supplied on. So I looked at plumbing pieces, and as it turns out, a 1-1/2" ABS elbow piece has the exact same internal diameter as the Falcon kit hallways as well as the same curvature! The floor and rings from the kit fit in the pipe I bought precisely, and it will make a fantastic extension for the hallways. I know yours is finished already, but I thought others looking at your video might be interested in this as you can get 3D printed floors and ring segments on Shapeways to finish up a piece of pipe into another section of corridor. :)
Such an amazing, awesome work of art, you've done. And very well filmed and edited. Congratulations, dear Christopher. I guess G Lucas, would have wanted you to coop with their team. Just I hope, you could get, some day, a tinny camera and fake some shots inside the tunnels. With lids on as far as possible. I am sure it would give a tremendous realistic effect to contribute to your great art. I'd love to feel like inside the miniature. Well, Sir, thanks for sharing. It's been a great pleasure.
Amazing! As a UK builder who has completed the model I got the Shapeways grille which, combined with the Deagostini panel, is too thick to allow the Falcons top hull to sit 100% flush (without additional work) at the rear. Should have waited for the thinner Paragrafix version!
Absolutely, completely phenomenal. This build is incredible!!! Your level of OCD for capturing these minute details is both inspiring and terrifying :)
really really nice , you have done an amazing job!!! i am a novice builder but i did have a go at putting in extra lighting . it came out ok . im pleased with how my falcon looks , its an amazing model! looking forward to seeing your finished model !!
The best made Falcon imo . Such great detail work and skilled weathering . The only areas I could have a beef with is Still the engine area and the top hull 6 round exhaust ports where I think both areas had more detailed parts that were available in the market to fully complete this as as the BEST all around detailed built accurate Falcon right next to the real deal.
Hello, I am a model builder from Germany. I have a question about the holder you use for the Falcon; How or what is the holder actually for ? How can I buy the product in Germany ? Thank you for the answer. thank you
Thanks. May not be perfect, but looks much better than just an open black hole. And I didn't want to have to buy more parts to extend it. Quick easy fix.
Am between building the delorian and r2d2. The millennium falcon looks fantastic Bro. Am thinking about buying the back issues and bulding it myself, however your attention to detail is way beyond my capabilities I think I will stick to the instructions. P's if only deagostini hired you to add that personal details to it the kit when it first came out. Anyway mate I have sub you all the best 😊
like i said Chris bandai company is releasing star destroyer 1/5000 scale in august , i pre order it already and i bet you're getting it too, that probably goes without saying :)
Decidedly the improvement work of the kit has given an impressive result, very well done and a lot of patience for what I see, the personal modification of the stand of the model is better than the bulky Agostini solution. Did you use the paragrafics set to improve the cockpit? Congratulations for such a good job :)
Shapeways. Here's a link to the specific crates and barrels I got. But he sells different variations as well. www.shapeways.com/product/Y8TPHGS6S/yt1300-deago-hall-bits-14-parts?optionId=62288903&li=user-wishlist
Fantastic build. Model-makers porn...lol. You could etch thin acrylic with images of the gameboard creatures, then attach the sheets edge-down in the tabletop, with flickering LED's below shining up through the acrylic, illuminating the etched creatures, like a holographic display in midair. Only upgrade i can think of.
Great videos! Really liked your mirror idea. I was wondering on the crates and barrels you sprayed them with hairspray over the silver color and I thought you were going to maybe do the worn paint technique with water and a brush but you didnt, just wondering does the hairspray still work to help chip without water? What is the hairspray for if not?
It helps protect the silver when just scraping the top coat with a blade on edges and corners, for the worn look. I've done it with water as well. Depends on the look I'm going for.
@@modelsbychris hey awesome models, i'm doing the millenium deAgostini model now and cannot find the cargo hold crates and barrels anywhere on the internet. Do you have a specific address to find them
@@breedhate68 Sure. I got most of my 3d printed parts from 308bits on Shapeways. www.shapeways.com/product/Y8TPHGS6S/yt1300-deago-hall-bits-14-parts?optionId=62288903&li=user-wishlist
I did non use any sets that you can just buy. It was all custom done by me with individual LEDs, fiber optics, etc. purchased from around Ebay. Some from Amazon. So many years ago now, you'd just have to do a search on Ebay and Amazon for 3mm LEDs, 0402 SMD LEDs, .25mm fiber optics, .5mm fiber optics, etc. There are a lot to choose from.
Are those Falcons still for sale cause we tried to look it up but it's very vague I would love to try to attempt one myself so if anyone knows wtf the dealeo is let us know might be looking up an old website idk
Sorry. My mistake. They're 0402, not 3. Got em on Ebay. www.ebay.com/itm/10-pcs-Pre-Wired-Cool-White-0402-SMD-LEDs-Lighting-Kits-Pre-soldered-Micro-LEDs-/191895137531?hash=item2cadd76cfb
Are you in the United States? If not, some countries won't allow my videos to play because of the background music. But they're available for download from a link in my notes section.
I have never done a commission. I can tell you, to do this Falcon, it'd be around $10,000. There's almost $2500 in just materials, then over 400 hours of labor.
