I moved to Deal when I retired five years ago. It is a wonderful little seaside town and I count myself very lucky to live here. Thank you very much for your wonderful video, it captures the sights and the feel of the town perfectly.
I’ve recently viewed a little cottage in Deal and I think I’m going to go for it! Moving is a big step, so I wanted to make sure I found somewhere nice, and by the sea. Fingers crossed 🤞 it all works out. Bit nerve wracking!
I live in Stoke but my aunt and uncle moved to Deal many many years ago. We used to visit them for a holiday about 3 times a year back in the 70s and 80s and I loved it. Doing all the touristy things plus all the stuff the locals do with my uncle...it was probably the best holidays I ever had and I’m 57 now and I’ve travelled all over the world. Thanks for this video it brought back some lovely memories 😎☀️🇬🇧
I moved north to Manchester when I was 16 years old. I have been back once, but visit the video's on web now and then. This is a very good qty video I must say and at 66 years old now its nice to see the place has not lost its heritage. Its still the deal I remember with love and fun and grew up with.
I like in the UK since 2012 and despite living in Ashford in the first 6 years, I have been in Dover, Folkestone, Hythe, Margate, Broadstairs, Ramsgate and Hastings, but never been in Deal until today. I will definitely come back soon! What a lovely place to visit!
I enjoyed watching your video of Deal. It was very interesting 🧐. I love the old buildings that are looked after and painted . The lovely quaint pier. It’s relaxing.
I stayed in Deal a few times. Lovely spot with direct connection for a lot of excursions. The Sea Front hotel was a very good choice, parking behind the hotel and direct access to the walking street and shops.
Just about an hour's drive from my home, a lovely little place - you're right about the entrance to the pier, ever so slightly underwhelming - they really need to pop along to Herne Bay and check out their pier to get a few ideas...
Hi what a lovely place I must pay a visit. I have recently got into you're channel And it's great I love most of the tour's you Do . I really liked the heartbeat one you did As me and my partner have been there So it brought back a lot of memories. Keep up the good work.
Hello, Just been to Whistable with you and then Deal.Currently watching Herne Bay on TV. Many years ago my husband used to go night fishing off Deal pier with his brother. He made it sound very dull so we never went during the day.I really enjoyed the walk because it is truly beautiful .We no longer have a car now so we find your walkes really enjoyable .We live in The Royal Borough of Greenwich.Have you done Greenwich? Lots of history and a beautiful park.Thanks.😊
Thanks so much - I think I went to Greenwich as a child but not been back since I've just added it onto my list of places to film so watch this space and I'll be there soon!
Just caught up with this one! Absolutely love Deal its one of the places on my Retire To List!! Probably too expensive so will have to look for some sheltered housing there!! The beach looked like it had just taken a new delivery of spanking new Pebbles! yes I agree the Pier could do with a nicer entrance and maybe a few little stall like shops on it as its a long pier and would be something to stop and browse at, so lucky to have a pier they need to make the most of it. I have to just say that the vocal soundtrack to this video is one of the best I have heard on RU-vid.....
You had a nice day, but Deal is usually pretty windy. The beach runs North South and the winds are vicious and bitter in the winter. Nelson once said Deal was the coldest place in England. It was an important Naval town in those days. I live in the warm Philippines and cannot imagine how we survived those 1950's winters. I recall a largish boat jammed into the foyer of the Regent Cinema after a storm. Late 50's or early 60's. All the new buildings are built on the WW2 bombsites we played in as kids. The worst damage was the south end of Middle Street which became a carpark. The shop with the wavey lines is an icecream parlour. My mother used to take me there in the 1950s and it has barely changed since. It's well worth a visit.
Another great video about Kent - handy for those of us who have only ever passed through it on our way to Dover for a day trip to France. The statue near the pier is called "Embracing the Sea" by a sculptor named Jon Buck (I looked it up). Excellent presentation again.
Thank you for your tour of Deal. I do like all footpaths by the beach. Deal looks like a seaside town I would enjoy. We have a small town in Tasmania that has murals painted on all the main buildings. Looks good when they are relevant to the buildings history. And no graffiti.
Total contrast to St. Ives, where I was brought up...but therein lies it's charm; no shoulder-to-shoulder mass crowds, no attacking gulls, no rubbish...just a pure view, a great ribbon of beach and.....space! Well filmed.
@@GimbalWalkTV When you do, here's a few tips from a ex-St.Ives inhabitant. Start at the railway bridge at Porthminster Beach...on past the Beach...down The Warren, thru Westcott's Quay along Lambeth Walk, past the Lifeboat House, along the Wharf, talking in West Pier; then on to Smeaton's Pier...back round the St. Ives Museum to Porthgwidden Beach, The Island then Porthmeor Beach and the Tate Museum. ( Check all this on a town map ). THAT is the best scenic treatment for a walk-round in my opinion. Good walking!
Whoa! Not been here since 1990 when we missed the ferry from Dover to Calais and had some time to kill until the next ferry so ended up in Deal. This brings back some happy memories of being 19 and fkn hammered on Vodka. I wasn't driving btw.
Ah got so many different combinations it differs from video to video but either a Sony FX3, a DJI Pocket 2, An iPhone on a gimbal or one of the others Whatever I have with me at the time
Hi Gimbal, I Live in the isle of sheppey I fancy spending a few days in deal this Easter, would you know of a hotel , looking out across the beach, and is there any bike hire places ,
This is my home town lovely place, you didn't visit walmer? Or Kingsdown farms on the cliffs. Kingsdown is where the white cliffs of Dover start. Also mongeham field walks to country pubs. The statue is called embracing the sea. Lots of woodland and farms too.
The walk from Folkestone to Sandgate via the walking park. The beach has also been adapted to make it less straight. I haven’t been for about ten years.
@@GimbalWalkTV I did read about him. He was a terrible alcoholic and would sometimes make a nuisance of himself in some of the bars, but I think people tolerated his behaviour because it was him. He was openly gay, and tried to pick young men up. There was a fire at his house at one time, which was caused by a burning cigarette on the sofa.
