Sometimes it is tough to deal with unexpected problems, but it can be a good opportunity to learn and make something beautiful out of it.
This soundboard cracked unexpectedly during the final phases of the French polishing process. I don't know exactly what caused it. The guitar suffered no blows, and there was no significant change in humidity. I must assume inner stresses of the wood led to tensions once it was thicknessed.
I made a prior repair with a spruce spline but it did not please me. It was a sound repair, but it can be very difficult to match the refraction of light in a particular piece of spruce, especially one with a lot of medullary rays.
So I changed strategy and decided not to try and make it invisible, but to change the design of the guitar to deal with it, extending the rosette to the side the fingerboard.
