I am in the same boat. I've been dealing with this issue since 4 months ago. I am taking my time as i don't want to throw harsh chemical or some magic potions all at once. Just doing natural methods and have managed to keep N/P levels where i want, adding pods, feeding live phyto, manual removal without water change etc. Also added a decent UV a month ago but does not effective as mine is amphidinium they don't go to water column at night lol. Looks like i'm on the right direction so i will keep doing what i am doing without chemicals especially Dino X which killed some of my corals in the past.
Great video. I’m dealing with 2. Yes 2 kinds of Dino’s. Prorocentrum and amphidinum. I bought a Uc sterilizer. $300. Does nothing. SMH. Bought a microscope after I shoulda bought it before
Sorry to hear your having problems with dinos, have you try adding conch/turbo snails to keep the sand turning over? Also slowly increasing your N/P can help.. I've not tried hydrogen peroxide but some say spot dosing a diluted solution works well. Good luck!
I have just finished dealing with dinos in my tank. Both my nitrate and PO4 so I used seachem products to manually dose those back up. I also was religiously manually removing the dinos every day. Eventually the excess nutrients from dosing triggered a massive cyano bloom and that got rid of the dinos. I also increased the temperature on my tank to 27C. This massively slowed down the growth of the dinos as well.
@@daveng95 I believe I have almost beaten the cyano completely, just a few small patches left. Raising the temperature certainly helped in beating the dinos. It didn’t alright eliminate them, but it definitely help slow down their growth. You should try it!
@@daveng95 from experience. You get algae and bacteria from frag plugs. I spend a year looking for good bacteria and algae to add to my tank. Most people make videos based on my ideas and never give credit. So I'm going on hoodstocks to share my views of the aquarium hobby. I been doing this for 15+ years. I have a 2 gallon to show my skill level.
