9:20 Dan Corrigan Corporate shoes issue: We hear you dude. The skateboarding industry business is pretty brutal. Every company wants a “slice of the pie” in tapping into the market for footwear & apparels for both skaters & non-skaters. To me it’s cool that skaters have a vast more choice as a consumer. But to slant towards a brand because of “corporate feeling” is way too political. Buying skate shoes is about your own comfort, fee & preference. In the end, it’s the consumer’s choice base on affordability. Vans has always been the most best priced shoe company amongst all especially for entry level. Never forget your roots. Without Vans, there wouldn’t be any other companies formed to give competitive selections as well as technologies for skaters. Corporate or not, it all starts form somewhere. To be dissing about them, is the same as dissing on beginner skaters once you’re an Am or Pro though you were once a beginner. We just have to “stop the hate & just continue to skate” as one community for its culture. That goes for the companies as well as a whole. @dancorrigan: you gotta stay humble & be a positive influencer for the viewers.

Definitely makes me want to skate; my skateboard comes with me to every time I hit up the parks on my scooter, and as a 51 year old rider, guys like you inspire guys like me to always skate a little more!

Lol i fucks with the Dan smoke over the vans. Dude can be ok, but sometimes he's got some intolerable takes and ideas that make me physically roll my eyes. That's a lot of skateboarders though... sometimes we got some goofy weird ass takes about things. I mean i fw Nike SB heavy, a lot of people think that's lame, but it is what it is, they've also done some really cool things for skateboarding but they are also a super corp that has fucked over local skate shops... can't seem to put out basic SB dunk colorways in abundance which is annoying af.
I’m almost 50 years old and Vans are the only shoe that works for me and my bung knees. That being said if a company doesn’t expand in different areas especially skate brands they won’t last and fall by the wayside like most brands who call themselves Core, personally good business is smart business.

I have to go a half size down in a lot of vans “skate” models. Wonder if that’s why. I know the skate slip ons just don’t work for my feet but half cabs a half size down are so comfy
Car was being weird for sure. I skate a lot of vacant lots and whenever I see car pulling something like that it's usually someone learning how to drive, ha!
put double sided tapes on your rails before you screw them in the board. that should help with the rattling. also i put a little drop of superglue in the screw holes if they get loose overtime. locktite should probably work better too.

bro if u shook to do it on a regular box and not stoked to attack the box to via trying, its not your skate gig. just enjoy what comes natural to your body and find new ways to let your body be free and let the tricks come from seeing how your body wants to move and be. Your skateboarding will grow immensely if you respect your bodies abilities and boundaries, yes there are times we can try to skate something that we think may never be possible, but only do that if it brings you just as equal joy as fear , more joy and more confidence. dont try to be a josh kalis if you're a tony alva, dont try to do street stuff if u like to cruise. just be you and your ability to do more will come naturally
I don’t know how much you like to go to nollie, but Nollie to manual is a fun trick. I love riding to the top of a bank and then popping a nollie backside 180 to manual to the bottoms of whatever bank it’s on is one of my signature go to tricks
To be fair in the beginning of dans video he explains how bad vans has treated skaters he knows and thats mainly why he dosent like them and he only wore cariumas for a few days and then gave a honest review of them.
Sometimes it’s healthy to vent your feelings even if they aren’t positive. Being human is all about expression and I think this overwhelming trend in “good vibes only” is suppressive and ultimately toxic in that it will lead to a society of people who are too afraid to say anything negative in fear that they will be ostracized or excluded. It’s all about balance. When something is overtly wack or problematic, say fuck it.

It's true, half cabs are not even vans really, they should really be their own shoe company. If Steve Caballero didn't need vans to make his shoe when he was a kid and started intally with his own shoe company and made the half cab, he'd be super rich rn. And Vans would be in walmart with DC and Etnies.
Idk about that, the half cab isn’t even close to their best sellers, at least from what I’ve been told. The AVE is also a really good shoe, and if you got the right foot type I hear the old schools are really nice

Would you walk into a restaurant or a gym and greet the other patrons? If so, then that’s your style and keep rolling with it, fuck anyone that gives you an attitude for just being friendly. If not and you’re treating skateparks as some kind of parallel universe where you feel the need to over extend yourself socially, then no. Just go cruise around and give a head nod to people when you make eye contact.
I don’t like van’s personally, and I don’t like Indy trucks, that’s my personal preference, but I’m down for both of those brands being a core staple to the skate history and without those brands skateboarding may be worse off today. Respect to Vans, I rather rock Nikes but big up Vans boiiiiiiiiiii 💪💪💪💪💪
Yeah I’m tired of Dan myself. A video everyday and dudes a salty dude low key. He has a following because he’s an older skate rat, but dude is always on a tangent with himself. Stopped clicking on the dude because his content is bland.
