Update Alert: Ricci Martin passed away on August 1, 2016; he was near 63 years of age. Ricci recalls some personal and memorable aspects about his legendary entertainment father with Sue Manteris on News 3.
Thank God we still have his Record Albums with his Dreamy Voice. God Bless You Dean Martin, and Thank you for spreading so much fun and happiness around for all of us. We Love you and will never forget you.❤️
Born 1970, our house was filled with albums from every genre, decade i loved playing Dean Martin every sat when I had to clean the house-the only time I was allowed to use the expensive record player lol
Whenever Dean was Entertaining in Las Vegas, my parents were there to see it and enjoy it. And if they weren't going to Las Vegas, they were going to Hawaii. Those were wonderful days, and I miss them.
I met Ric when he was performing in my town about ten years ago. The guy was super friendly, personable and a classy guy. One of the most congenial people I have ever met.
9/4/19.....I adored Dean Martin + met him once in Acapulco & will never forget the thrill! But he was forever changed when his son died during his Weekend Warrior flying in the Reserves.... GREAT entertainer + REAL family man! 💝
Oh, my parents and I NEVER MISSED A WEEKLY EPISODE OF "THE DEAN MARTIN SHOW !!" We always looked forward to it, and counted the days that we'd have to wait until the night it came on. We all never laughed so hard as to when Dean would slide down the Fireman's Pole, and go through the floor. And also when Dean would kind of jump up to get a lift to sit on top of his Piano Players Piano, and it busted right underneath his rear end. OMG, we were all in hilarious laughter, when that happened, and I believe it happened twice, if I'm not mistaken. Between going through the floor with the Fireman's Pole, and busting the top of the Piano when he popped on top of it, and the noise it made when it broke, all of our sides were sore from laughing so hard and for so long!! We still, and always will, miss Dean dearly! When his T.V. show ended, it was like a Funeral to us, because our favorite T.V. Show was now gone forever. We still think about him, and reminisce about him, and I told my parents, can't we clone him? Everybody loves him and wants him back. My parents were shocked when I came out with that, but they understood what I meant.
Ah! The Dean Martin TV Show . . . The working schedules with my parents back then had me fortunate enough, as a kid, to watch that TV show for a couple of years, as both Mom and Dad worked the swing shift on weeknights; as it was doubtful my parents would have allowed me to watch that TV show in their presence. Especially so since I should have been doing my homework. Well, I multi-tasked at that time. I took the opportunity with meeting up with Ricci just days after this TV interview, and I asked him if the NBC Network "standards and practices" people, aka the "censors" ever had issues with his dad, Dean, when it came to making ad-lib comments during the tapings of the TV show. Sadly, Ricci couldn't be definitive about that aspect of his dad's show. But, one could imagine of Dean making an ad-lib comment where the TV network censors would yell "Cut!" and had Dean re-do the scene with staying to the clean dialog in the script.
Dean Martin was part of my childhood. We watched his show on TV every week. He was a classic performer and there was a lot of him on any stage...totally Dean, the man.
Biggest heart throb of my life. I will always watch all the reruns or info on him. I was married with 3 kids and had a job but, Thursday night was my night to iron in the family room and watch Dean Martin show on our little t.v. My daughter, the oldest, remembers that so well. He was a wonderful person and a fabulous entertainer.
@Karen Dotson . . . I enjoyed watching the Dean Martin Show on Thursdays, too; even though it was on a school night. But, I had one of those family situations where my parents worked Thursday evenings, so I was one of the few school kids to watch his TV show. Something I always wondered about, and this was something Ricci could not answer for me when I met him the day after this TV interview: Did Dean ever do any adlibs when taping his show where the network censors demanded such scenes to be cut prior to broadcast? Or, for the network censors instructing the producers of the Dean Martin Show to re-shoot the scenes/skits with clean dialog? It's easy to imagine Dean letting loose with some adlib one-liners that could have been PG to R-rated. LOL
So sorry to hear this. A second son gone. 😟 Yes, the best to his family. I am glad Dean did not have to see this as well, he never got over the death of Dino. Watching Dean with the beautiful horses was such a treat; he was a man worth much more than the "wine, women and song" rep his being part of the Rat Pack afforded him. RIP dear Dean. God bless his family.
All I know is I enjoy your Friday broadcast live to such a beautiful person so many ways at love I bought a couple of her C d's recently and there such a joy to listen to hear nuances every song is sung differently there is no consist consistent style in which she's sings your songs are all based upon her feelings and it's a beautiful thing to listen to
Dean was. Great entertainer and a great singer and sung all types of music country blues and pop and Italian songs and standards and R&B and a great voice RIP Dean

I met Ricci back in Vegas when he appeared on the strip with a show and the book. That night Bill Medley was at the show. We talked about how are Grandfathers came from Southern Italy with the same professions and a similar last family name ( His Crocetti and mine Corsetti ).He took a picture of us and gave me a book.He was really a warm and friendly man.
Who is not only the coolest cat but he was a real cat it was what you saw and considering what he had to do to get to where I was feeling is never stingy
Nice! Never knew he had written a book! Wonderful that he hooked up with Desi like his brother years before! I think Dean Paul would be very pleased! Hope to read that book! That’s Amore! ❤️😃
Dino's "drunky" image was just that, a laugh, fun for him to portray (and he did it well) but NOT what he was by a long shot. I was at several parties and saw him come, be there a bit and talk a while but he always left very early. I didn't know he "didn't like parties" but he had plenty of fun with Sinatra and others, but was far more apt to leave early, and did. BUT, he always had that cigarette going, he was a chain-smoker and that's what killed him at age 78.
Dean, Jackie Gleason, and Bette Davis had to smoke every waking moment. Dean was asked if he smoked before or after dinner. His answer: "During." When didn't he smoke? "Showering." Har-dee-Har-Har! It's the oddest thing. None of these people were idiots, but the idea of breathing smoke instead of air, what could go wrong? Someone will reply here, "We're all gonna die anyway." They think the dying process is the same for everyone... quick and painless. Incredibly naive.
That was very astute of you to say that. I had the pleasure of meeting him 14 years ago. By far the most gracious individual of prominence I've ever met in my life . . . and the graciousness he displayed was way before his book signing session, where I happened to cross paths with him in the casino. When initially seeing him I spoke up for recognizing him. He stopped, greeted me with a handshake, and I identified myself, and we had an exchange of pleasantries . . . where he informed me in a most polite way that he was preparing for the book signing session and was looking forward to seeing me there. At the book signing, he was graciously agreeable to personalize his autograph and inscription in his book for my Mom, which was my present to her that she cherished. It was heartbreaking to hear about his passing. My condolences to his family.
"First he was married to Betty, that was a brief marriage". Married to Betty , his first wife for 7 years and had 4 children. Wouldn't consider it a brief marriage.
@@chirelle.alanalooney8609 Yes, I know that movie! But, can’t remember what they meant in it, but I know a few couples that did get a divorce at that seven year mark! Must have some meaning!! 🤣😁. I guess one of them got that itch!! 😳😂😆
@Viviana Angel-A Cardenas Buccio . . . when comparing past generation analogue TV with its cathode ray tube technology to present day flat screen high-def TV, the differences are astounding! I've found that nature TV programs, which were of little interest for me back in the analogue TV days; has now become very absorbing and compelling TV shows to watch on a 50-inch/127 centimeter high-def TV screen.
No explanation was ever made public as to what killed Ricci Martin at such a young age. He had a charmed life of ease and wealth, and to the public's knowledge never had problems with drugs or alcohol, yet he died at only 62 years of age.
@@heavenstomurgatroyd7033 You're right. A son isn't going to say his father- a much beloved popular superstar- was a drunk, or anything negative. Believe me, the public would go ballistic on him, as it did on Gary Crosby and Christina Crawford. It's entirely possible that Dean's glass was, at times, filled with apple juice during a performance. That doesn't mean he wasn't an alcoholic off stage, same as Sinatra.
i watched every roast as a kid! Dean martin was the man. i have a twin brother that looks just like sean! it’s too funny too, because my mom adored Dean and only married my dad because he looked like Dean Martin
Wow... i just learned something. Not to be disrespectful? But i had no idea that Dean Martin had such a family. But everything consider? Dean was a Italian American guy who like all or most Italians ? We appreciate family. The Bambino's and Bambina's. Grazie mille.
Dean's wife threw a party and invited Frank Sinatra and other friends. Unlike Frank, Dean didn't enjoy parties and also had an early golf tee time, and so he went to bed early. After being kept awake by the party, he called the cops to complain. Dutifully, they showed up and broke up the party.
Bobby Paluga At the start of this video the announcer said it was 12 noon so I don’t see anything wrong with the way Ricci was dressed, he looked cool and casual but not at all scruffy. He was hardly going to turn up in his Dads trademark tuxedo in the heat of Nevada at that time of day! I’m sure even Dean wore casual clothes during the daytime when he wasn’t working.
JR Pacer Ricci’s book is called That’s Amore: A Son Remembers. Interestingly, his older sister Deana also wrote a similar memoir called Memories Are Made of This: Dean Martin Through His Daughters Eyes. Deana was one of the older children that Dean had with his first wife Betty, and it’s very interesting to compare the different experiences and viewpoints of her and Ricci growing up through different stages of the Martins family life. Deana is also a singer and, like Ricci, she has a tribute act to Dean. Also, I believe that she is very involved with an annual Dean Martin Festival held every year in Deans home town of Steubenville Ohio on the anniversary of Dean’s birthday.
What did he die of? It never came out. How does a relatively young man who never worked a hard day in his life, with a generous trust fund - how does that guy drop dead at his age? Cancer i would think. I saw a video of one of his shows, performances and he had his mothers musical talents and singing voice.
All i remember bout the manwhen i was little is he acted like a womanizer ..a drunk cuz he always had a glass in one hand and disgusting cigarette in another..but i did like his voice
Liked Dean Martin's voice but disliked his character and image as an alcoholic. Sometimes he was overly relaxed in his singing and came across as having drunk too much for real. Consequently, I lost interest in him as a serious singer because he slurred his speech when singing. Too bad. He had a great voice if he had only used it properly in his later years as he did when younger.
To bad you are so self righteous. You missed out on a great man . funny ,sexy, great singer and just a great personality. He was a great father and did a lot of charity work.
You know he wasn't really a drunk like everyone thinks he was. Being the fact that he was an alcoholic not true, it's safe to say you just have a problem with yourself and not Dino
during my high school da ys dean martin is my favorite singer now im 78 yrs old watching dean in you tube for me he still alive he sing hes voice soothing to the nerves still no, 1 4 me love love dean martin
