Ur completely right. There’s a channel I watch called “Am I The Jerk”, and they almost got their channel deleted bc a troll kept saying that they used “copyrighted music”. Problem: the channel *never* used music. But of course, RU-vid didn’t check this and not only suspended the channel, but nearly deleted it right before they hit 1 million subs. But Sssniperwolf doxxed a person and she got a slap on the wrist (it’s giving it too much credit to even call it that), so what can we rly expect?

(because the people making them would still flood youtube kids, shorts, and regular youtube with it, and target kids with their videos.) I think reason why RU-vid does is because of stupid parents who don’t look over their child and then complain when they see inappropriate content on RU-vid. Even though RU-vid has the kids app, most parents don’t know that or don’t bother and still use regular RU-vid

This has happened because RU-vid mixed up the 3 waves of Monster School: 1) Classic wave: Willcraft invented it, it was mostly Minecraft related. Other channels would be Smilecraft, Tom, or Stillcraft. Modern takes on the classic style: Rancher6, bgzar. 2) Meme wave: Platabush and ratkidz started it. These guys added memes, and content from other games or animes. It was good content. It does have that type of MLG noscope humor and stuff Willcraft viewers wouldn't get but I have good memories of watching these vids in the summer years ago. Im sure there is an entire generation that is nostalgic of zombie doing bottleflips just like another was of Endventures. Anyone reasonable knows there's nothing wrong with that. 3) The bad wave: This is where content farms started and they added all the bad stuff we know about and we demanded to get something done about. Pregnancy, sxualizd stuff etc. RU-vid may have heard from someone that anything after Willcraft was basically bad and decided to wipe everything. This is ironic because Willcraft totalitarians that don't respect other people tastes ended up damaging Willcraft himself. Instead of all joining forces against the actual bad actors, now the bad actors have all the traffic for themselves because everyone else abandoned their channels, since all channels are demonetized and had videos deleted so they lost motivation. Yes, some may be lucky to still have videos uploaded, but they are demonetized, or risk getting demonetized and striked if they upload new episodes, so most left. Just saw Smilecraft lose over 120 million views the other day. Years of work unfairly deleted followed by demonetization. Once you delete so much stuff from a channel, it never recovers. And this has happened to almost everyone, big or smaller channels. How would anyone want to continue after that? That content is actually very time consuming to make. Meanwhile, channels like lineanimation9667 are at almost 2 billion views and you can take a look at what type of content they upload. These people don't care about their channels, they already know they will get eventually get banned, so they will be the only ones left making content getting all the views, the ones that care about their channels will not risk doing more Monster School episodes since they risk strikes+demonetization lottery. Whether classic style or good meme/newwave episodes, they get treated the same as the actual bad ones, so why bother? This is all a big misunderstanding that made a lot of people sad that have good memories on some of these channels, and I doubt youtube will fix it, because they are either unaware of any of this, or simply don't care that they do more damage than good doing it.

This is the best summary of the situation i've read and it all makes sense now. It should be pinned. I knew there were like different eras on Monster School, most of this content has always been harmless entertainment and definitely much better than dafuqboom which is what 99% of people under 14 are watching nowadays, we literally have 5yos dressing as toilets for halloween. With Monster School at least it was mostly internet memes with unrealistic graphics and sometimes a cool adventure that actually had a plot, and because of a few fked up content farms which are the same ones doing content in basically all different niches, which are the same that started adding the s.xualized stuff to get clicks, the rest of creators are now being punished for what they didn't do. This is just unfair, but nobody seems to care to make actual justice, neither the people that make videos like this or RU-vid seems to care beyond "we complained about the current thing"/"we did something about the current thing", fkng up everyone in the process and then proceed to move on the current thing to complain and fix.

It's quite likely RU-vid uses machine learning algorithms to flag stuff as inappropriate. And since a lot of monster school content is inappropriate, those algorithms might have simply associated the monster school concept with being bad in general. Edit: The videos are also likely being looked at in order of popularity/publication date, which might explain why some actually inappropriate videos haven't been removed.

It's simple: It's vastly cheaper to simply outsource these decisions to automated systems as human beings are orders of magnitudes more expensive for the the same output when operated on such a large scale, typically when new rulesets and guidelines are added to modify the behaviour of those systems there tends to be a wave of false positives before the people overseeing the implementation of those rulesets reel the systems in and refine that behaviour. The issue is that RU-vid maintains a consistently and frustratingly opaque operation and has a reputation for profoundly poor communication with it's creators unless you're big enough to have someone assigned to you to have the connections to find someone else with a line to a human being overseeing and resolving those conflicts.

@@mindset2047 Everyone keeps saying this over the past few days. Google isn't locking down phones through the OS. Google is locking phones like every other vendors does. The OS itself is just Linux and like any Linux distro you can swap out parts as you see fit. Like I always replace all of the Linux utils with the open source packages for a given phone's hardware instead of using what was shipped on it. Really we need to make sure all of the phone vendors offer an unlock service or just stop locking the damn phones at all. It has skewed what people think their phones are capable of just to drive the sales of new phones that don't offer any real hardware upgrades.

They will save Willcraft to look like they know what they are doing and get good boy reddit points, but the rest will remain screwed up while the actual bad actors continue to make new channels and get all the traffic now because everyone else that was doing good Monster School videos (whether the OG style or meme style with bottleflips and other stuff from other games but that was still ok content) stopped posting since the bots just strikes and demonetizes at random if there is Monster School anywhere on video titles etc. So the situation is worse than ever. What RU-vid has done is just leave all this traffic for the ones not scared to get banned and demonetized cause the ones that add the sxualized stuff for clickbait don't care about their channels. Exactly same reason RU-vid did this: to look like they know what they are doing in the eyes of the public. It's just all a big PR move. Then they screw up, they get told to "fix it" and instead make it worse.

This has been an issue for years with tons of creators and at this point i think people need to start building up a lawsuit against youtube for all these nonsensical takedowns because they will never stop otherwise

Ah, sadly, at that part there is little people can do since RU-vid holds all the power when it comes to their platform. RU-vid as a platform and a service is allowed to decide what they want on their platform and what they don't want, since they are the owners and that's what every single channel agrees to. All we can do as creators and watchers is cause enough uproar to give the platform a bad reputation, and boycotting it so it becomes less profitable to a point they have little choice but to take action. But let's be real, who is actually gonna boycot RU-vid? Where are we gonna go, Vimeo?

@@RoseWhitmorei mean, an alternate solution is to port the majority of creators to somewhere else- for example nebula was formed off of many RU-vidrs, with these larger RU-vidrs it should be much easier to create something like this. Doesn’t even have to be permanent, once RU-vid sees their profits drop they should start redeeming themselves.

@@godwin972Usually the lawsuits have been about what is allowed on the platform, and not what is removed. RU-vid has to remove some types of video by law, but it has no obligation to keep any videos.

Tbf, in the youtube terms of service you agree to youtube deleting your profile and content at any time for no reason whatsoever. Giving a reason, no matter how bad, exists solely to make the user feel better, not because youtube has any obligation to host your content. If youtube was a publically run service, things might be different, but youtube is private at the end of the day which means they have no obligation to serve customers

I've the same problem, RU-vid deleted a lot of my videos due to "kids safety". RU-vid disappoints me, 2015-2018 were the best years for RU-vid without strict policies...

You always find yourself in these type of situations because you simply want the website to be better. Despite you not having the largest community out there you're probably the Minecraft RU-vidr that cares most about improving RU-vid as a site alongside it's content, sure your reach may be limited but it's good to spread awareness of these problems and potentially cause a change to happen because of it so I fully believe you should continue on this path.

Just RU-vid being RU-vid. It's a shame we can't always have a nice thing. RU-vid will always find a way to squeeze as much as money they can get. Even if that mean they have to sacrifice someone for the sake of getting attention by making people watch the re-upload video and have to watch the unskippeable ads.

Thanks, that "really" helped me just with stress and took my all time to reupload and do everything again, all the things. And I've lost so much time just with this crap. I even lost one of my oldest animations, which is kinda sad for me. I know everyone wanted to get rid of the bad school that is really not for children, but as you can see, it took down also good lookin' animations with good content. This all thing just made me really unmotivated to do anything again which also adds the damn ships that everyone does, such as "Skelly x Wither" and so on, please, why does everyone have to ruin everything so good. I want to stop with my content just from this crap also.

The main lesson that content creators should be taking from this is that the current dynamics give the platforms all the power. It doesn't have to be this way, though-just look at what happened this year with WGA and SAG-AFTRA. Imagine an organization like that taking form in the RU-vid space. (just to lampshade: I'm avoiding the use of one particular word that I'm paranoid would get this comment flagged)

It’s no secret that RU-vid plays favourites with some of its most subscribed channels (even those run by absolute scumbags). If we could get them to ally with loads of more marginalised, oppressed channels (via the few good people on the internet as their spokespeople), Nasty Neal would lose his mind at the prospect of his beloved scammers, predators and bigots fighting against him with his mortal enemies who just want to make good content. Only the most co-ordinated attack will do, but with every RU-vidr (including the middlemen like Mr. Beast, PewDiePie and all of the TikTok immigrants to spread the word to smaller channels: to the good guys they use reputation, to the bad they use connections and financial incentives) partnered together in this fight against evil, they might just win. It wouldn’t just be a RU-vid union, though, because that would get shut down instantly. It would comprise creative professionals from every corner of the Internet.
