Actually this death has happened to me multiple times unintentionally, once when exiting a boat to grab a ruined portal chest underwater, I died as soon as I touched the chest with my feet, and once while dropping into a river while flying with an elytra.

The reason that you can get messages like this in game is actually quite simple, the way that messages in game work is they have a standard programming name like death.reason, and then are translated by a dictionary when used in game. If the translate methods can not find the phrase used in that translation, it outputs the translation name instead, in this case death.fell.

Its because theres a basic tree I assume for how death faults are defined, that is, the string of events leading up to death is what creates the “death” object. In many programming languages, you can decide how an attempt to output an object as text will resolve, however in this case for example as well as say “death.attack.magic.player” there is no predefined syntax, so the default “tree” of events is output

Huh... I remember getting this by I think elytra’ing into water at a high speed. It’s been a while, but I remember being able to consistently do it (not the way shown in video) another way cause we were so curious as to why it was broken (this was on 1.15 I believe, cause I don’t think we updated our server to 1.16.5 at the time)

There used to be a random death message that read "Player fell out of the water", but since the bug that originated was fixed they removed the death message.

It used to happen if you riptide all the way up to y=2000 and then on the way down riptide downward into the water.

They should add it back, maybe make it to where if you are in water that is being held up by a sign or something and you fall out you get that death message

I got this death message during a speedrun attempt, all that happened was I jumped down a ravine into water flowing over a lava pool, so I landed on obsidian with non source water flowing over it.

that used to be a thing back in the alpha/beta versions of the game, where water wouldn't negate all fall damage and you could actually take fall damage in water

I discovered this like a month ago and another way of getting the message is going down a waterfall but go down faster then the water can and it will say the message I found it when I was making a massive flag and needed to replace one block and got a little impatient

I once got this death message from lagging the game so hard to the point that sand wouldnt be rendered as a gravity block so I can just bridge on it, when I fell off I fell in the water and died with this message

I actually got this accidentally when i was on a friend's server which had massive server lag and i fell from high enough to die from fall damage. But right after i fell i went into water and it took me like 5 second to die and i got this death message.

it seems like a hard thing to implement. maybe it couldve been darkening anything that isnt the glow squid while its on your screen and within a certain distance? perhaps making it harder to move your cursor away from it?

@@rylandrc to achieve the first one, you have to be killed by a bee which is holding a renamed item (commands). For the second one, a wither holding a renamed item (commands) has to kill you with a skull.

If it's caused by a stampede of elephants on the 4th of July between 3:55 and 4:00 PM during a hailstorm.
