That wasn't kira running. That was pre death note light. The wounds. The crying. At the very end he was brung back to reality he wasn't a god. He was nt a savior. He was man gone crazy with power. It reminds me of how when a dictator or a leader of a country falls. They remember that they too ar human and not above retribution.
What’s so sad is that it also looked like light was nostalgic and sad that he ever picked up the notebook. “What if I never received this power? What would happen if I just lived a normal life?” Light realizes that he was wrong and fucked up, but it’s too late. Making this ending even more tragic and painful
If you think about it, Misa was indirectly killed by Rem. If she never gave Misa the second death note she probably would’ve lived a long and happy life and likely would’ve never found out who Light was or that he was Kira.
I really like the part at the end where L appears in front of Light as he's dying. Their complex relationship is one of the highlights of the show and the fact we don't exactly know how they're feeling about each other makes it even better, making us ask questions that we'll probably never get the answer to. Why did L appear before Light? Was it Light, desperate for a shimmer of comfort in his dying moments, remembering the one person he considered a true friend? Or was it to symbolize that L, despite dying first, managed to claim victory over Kira? Going further with that train of thought, how did L truly feel about Light when he was still alive? Did L hate Light with a burning passion because he really knew Light was Kira but never managed to prove it? Or did L, despite his suspicions, feel some sort of companionship towards Light? The fact I'm thinking about this so deep is homage to Death Note's writing.
According to the Author L actually hated Light and knew he was full of shit. He knew he was 100% light very early on but had no hard proof. The whole “10%” thing was a lie
To me it just seems like both rivals acknowledge led each other as worthy opponents, but in some case, I think it’s just L want to give light some comfort so he doesn’t die alone because L died with light beside him despite his defeat and he was there for him when light dies in a way I guess it’s just both arrivals realizing the war is over and that they both finally found peace
Idk where I read that one of the creators mentioned that if Light would have never found the Death Note, he would have joined the police and he and L would have been best friends and invincible finding criminals. But we wouldn’t have this story. So, to me they respect each other, they were playing a dangerous chess game but they knew that the only way to beat each other was one of them dying. They were two faces of the same coin.
Wouldn't call him a hero, but yeah, the "How-To" volume even makes note of this by referencing Light's proclamation that he would be "an exception": "Light suffered a pathetic end. This line reveals his arrogance."
I'll admit the way Near won is strage but the scene is still beautiful and perfect and the symolism is incredible Light dying halfway up the stairs is great, in between he's niether in Heaven or Hell
This scene alone pretty much confirms my theory that Light Yagami is Kira. It's subtly hinted at throughout the rest of the show, manga and movies, but this scene alone confirms my suspicion.
Do NOT die like Light. Die like Lelouch. Edit: Lelouch died with his sister, best friend, and his close friends crying over his death as they knew what was happening, while the entire world hated him. Light died with no one by his side, while nearly the entire world worshipped him.
@@fabrypetty1689 I still think Light's feats were pretty impressive. It took L, Mello, Near, the other SPK members, the Japanese Taskforce turning on him, Mikami's mistake, and Takada's death to take him down.
@@Aussie50InspiredDavidZ Mikami made no mistakes, Nears agent copting the notebook exactly in a few minutes is insane considering the notebook has thousands of names in and +100 pages written total, not to mention its japanese so it has way harder letters. And it was the key go kiras defeat.
1:13 Light and kira walking past eachother. The start of everything, just innocent light yagami who has no idea what will happen walks home with the notebook he found The end of everything. He isn’t even light anymore, he’s just kira.
I honestly prefer this ending over the one in the manga now I know what you’re all thinking. He was evil but at the beginning, he wasn’t a bad guy. He was just misguided corrupted by the death note but even so I prefer this end because at least he didn’t die alone, he would’ve been a hero had the death note never came along
While he was dying, he saw a vision of L overlooking him just like how light pretty much was overlooking L when he died that’s why I’m saying he didn’t die alone because he had some comfort in the end to pass on peacefully being Watched by a rival Who was his enemy but it turns out to be the only friend that respects him as an equal
I wish that light was the person who won the fight. Sadly, he died. RIP Light. He was the character who entertained me the most. Feel sad about his death.
Had Light made the eye deal with Ryuk in his room he'd have gotten to be God of the new world for atleast 2 and a half years. Instead he lived on for 5 more years and ended up losing it all. :/
@@JK-fc8xp That's the thing. Light was destined to lose and the life span Ryuk sees above Light's head is basically a timer before he, himself, writes Lights name in his DN because Kira gets defeated at his own game.
Lifespans change in Death Note (e.g. Ryuk laughs bc he sees Naomi’s lifespan change when Light is about to kill her), so we can assume he had a normal lifespan before certain events later in the series sealed his fate. Had he made the deal, he would’ve beat L much easier and would’ve likely lived to be middle-aged, unless someone else got close to killing him
@@LordHoward That was solely speculation. Ryuk could have already seen Naomi's short life span but didnt tell Light. I believe he is laughing because he was very entertained at the fact Light was able to manipulate her into giving him her license. Watch the episode again and you'll see right at the moment Light changes her mind through lying, Ryuk laughs at Light's tactics.
ANYONE SAW THAT WHEN LIGHT CLOSES HIS EYES AND THEY GIVE A ROOF PERSPECTIVE OF HIM ON THE STAIR CASE U SEE MISAS GHOST ON THE LEFT CORNER CONFIRMING THAT SHE COMIT SUICED!! I wonder if anyone else noticed before I said it??
I wonder what would’ve happened if he was taken in custody they would have to do a public execution or something I figure there either would be riots of the people who worshiped Kira or the scenario with his identity exposed the godhood legend would cease to be snuffed because they realized Kira is just a killer nothing special.
Just on ep 20 and i couldn't wait came to see the end i think kira was just a foolish kid despite the fact that there were criminals he had no right to kill them and he even went as much as killing people who didn't accept what he did was right does he know the countless lives he'd taken he deserved much more pain before death 😤
It isn't that black and white. He almost definitely would have been different if he hadn't gotten the note. There's a reason he won't go to heaven or hell
And this is what happens when you try to become god while playing with the lives of innocents look at what chaos light left in the world look at his family and look at misa who was too devoted to light because of his manipulations also matsuda will probably never be the same ever again in his attempt to try to so call save innocents he made a lot of people suffer in the process probably shouldn't become a seriel killer.
@@richardbarton5910 no, he woldve won despite being evil if the writers didnt want him to lose. The scene were nears assistant makes an exact replica of the second notebook in secret while at the bank even though the notebook had thousands of names on it, and it magically takes him a few minutes where nobody notices, thats just plot bs. Light did win, he killed L. Everything that happened after was just the writers being "bad guy cant win" even though it would have made sense for the story. If they wanted kira to die L should have done it.
@@fabrypetty1689 actually he let his ego get to him saying looks like I won is how he truly lost he would've talked himself out of that if he didn't say that in my opinion near and Mello never beat him he defected himself he became his own worst enemy by thinking he can never lose.
@@richardbarton5910 Did you even read what i posted? Light had no reason to think he had lost, because it is physically impossible to write down thousands of names with the exact same caligraphy as a person in a matter of minutes. Near defied physics to beat light, light should have won despite his arrogance.
L likely was smiling. Light died the death the brat deserved. Running away, crying and begging for Help, realising his life was wasted. People romanticised Light, but he was an egotistical little brat. Good at scheming, but not able tae actually think like an adult.
Precisely. He died like a bitch. He sent good men and women to their deaths, even stained his soul forever by becoming a kinslayer, and what for? His “Perfect world” never happened. People are more miserable now than ever because of him. He was never a “God” He was the short-term amusement to an actual God. And he never even gave people justice. He just made himself a monster to fill the void he made.
@yumanti5351 Ha ha ha! No he wasn't. He didn't deal with poverty for example. He killed innocent people along with the guilty. He was just a murderer. As for making the world better, what do you think would hae happened after the wee edgelord finally died, assuming he won? What would occur in his "perfect world" without Kira holding a gun tae everyone's head tae enforce good behaviour?
@darthlazurus4382 they wouldn't know he was dead and before he died he would pass the notebook down to someone. He made the world a better place, he made it safe. Poverty is the government issue. It had nothing to do with right and wrong. Kira fixed the rotten world.
@yumanti5351 His plan was tae eventually start killing lazy and unproductive people eventually. Likewise, given his ego, who do you think he'd trust tae be an actual successor? Likewise, Ryuuk could take the notebook back at any time. Also, people with the best plans can still die suddenly. He didn't create a better world. He just held a gun tae everyone's head. Light was a brat, a murderer and he died in disgrace. Shame, really. If not for finding that Notebook, he might hae actually grown up.
