I liked your video and I like your voice. There is just one one thing I want to say, when you read the book, Jacqueline explains Poirot at the end that she genuinely wanted Linnet to give Simon and a job and that was all, she didn't intend to murder her when she introduced Simon. They only had the idea when Linnet started to hit on him. But I guess the movies kinda hint at another explanation.

I think this is clear in the Ustinov version as well. Jackie talks about Simon getting the idea after he sees Linnet is falling for him, and Jackie knows he’ll do it stupidly if she doesn’t help him.

Hi there, loved your vid. Huge Agatha fan here, and in particular Death on the Nile (1978), which is still one of my all-time fave movies (so admittedly I'm quite biased, lol). In my opinion KB's 2022 version of this classic and iconic story missed the mark in virtually every way possible. The constant attempts to "sex" it up were boring and misguided. All that dirty dancing in the nightclub scene was ridiculous, unnecessary, out of place and out of character for those involved. Linnet inviting all those other people on her honeymoon didn't make sense. Especially when one of them was the guy she dumped for Poirot. Why invite him and why would he come? That weird scene where Linnet dressed up as Cleopatra didn't make sense, was unnecessary and was out of character. Much of Poirot's behaviour in this film was also out of character - in particular pointing guns at people and the silly chase scene after the third murder. Poirot isn't an action hero! Poirot was not a soldier in WWI, he was a refugee from Belgium. New audiences won't know this, but many existing fans will, and many (like myself) will be annoyed by this blatant and unnecessary rewriting of Poirot's history. The entire prologue which gave the WWI backstory to Poirot's moustache was completely bizarre (and didn't even make logical sense as hair doesn't grow out of scar tissue!). The addition of Bouc and his mother and that entire subplot around her disapproval of Rosalie as her son's love interest was extremely contrived and again, unnecessary. Simon's constant hobbling around the boat after he had been shot in the leg (like when he sobbed over Linnet's dead body) didn't make sense as the whole point of him being (apparently) shot in the leg was that it was supposed to be DISABLING, another basic fact that the film seems to have overlooked or not understood. Louise's body being discovered caught up in the paddlewheel made for an effectively gruesome visual, but it didn't make sense. Why throw her body into the water anyway? Especially as she was supposed to have been killed in her cabin. Far too much CGI and green screens!!!!! This movie wasn't particularly good to look at, while the 1978 version was not only shot on location but had a great colour palette of cream, ivory, browns and reds. Haha, as you can see I could go on, so I'd better stop the rant now. Maybe I sound precious and overly critical, but I think I'm being fair. When a movie is as good as the 1978 version, any remake has to really justify its existence by either doing it better or giving the story a completely different slant. The 2022 version did neither, and in fact, just called attention to how superior the original is.

Great video. You should call your channel ‘Crime Clarify’ and do one for all the major Agatha Christie stories. As well as cult whodunnits like IDENTITY, Basic Instinct, etc 🥳🥳🥳

This is honestly amazing, I've just watched both your videos now and I'm starstruck. The way you breakdown complex writing tricks and techniques to a point where I'm not astoundingly lost when I've never even heard of these stories(yet you held me for two videos still). The structure of the videos and quality compliment the easy to understand words and thoughts. It reminds me of Filmeto, Now You See It, and Nerdstalgic with a mix of ReignBot's voice...which for this type of stuff a good voice isn't a bad thing to have. I'd love to hear more breakdowns or possibly writing flaws/techniques used in and around murder mystery titles, novels, books and such. Knives Out??? Personally I'm not much into this genre but with this type of content expanding into other directions is easy, make more focus on general writing techniques and flaws or do other genres....per say Inception would be interesting to see. Obviously "Crime Clarified" is meant for Murder Mystery breakdowns of which I can tell your clearly passionate about so keeping that passion is the best thing you can do(I was just listing future ideas). I don't usually write this much or work this hard but seeing all this from a 6 SUBSCRIBER CHANNEL!?!??! Truly insane, so I hope you stick with it and make it past the demoralizing slow start if your truly passionate, because I really think you'll grow big on youtube if so..............................I really don't know how to end this soooooooooooo yeahhhhhhhhh

Wow, this is so unbelievably kind. I honestly created these videos to partly practice video editing and cause I wanted to talk about something that I'm passionate about - I genuinely never thought anyone would watch it (the 6 subscribers are from years ago idek from where!) so the fact that you watched both and took your time to write such a lovely and constructive comment in incredible. I have a few topics that I want to discuss, so you might see another video in the not so distant future, and I'd love to hear your thoughts on it (cause it'll be a bit different to these probably!). You've really brightened my day and given me the motivation to be creative. Thank you so so much!

@@mabethicabauer I'm just being honest, I tend to find myself randomly going down RU-vid's smaller side out of curiosity and I found this hidden gem! I'd love to see more from you (I almost find it inspiring knowing people start off their passion/hobby without it turning out cringy or bad) so I know I'll be looking forward to seeing the future of this channel! I don't wanna repeat myself so I just thought I ask, what video editor do you use? I've been trying to find some but don't feel like spending a crap ton a month for one so a recommendation would be nice, either way I wish you the best of luck in your future!

@@OverthinkIThink I think I need to do that more! And thank you so much!! Honestly, the first video was with imovie, which is free with Macs and does a pretty reasonable range of stuff! Then I realised through my work I was able to access a relatively cheap bundle of Adobe stuff so now I'm using Premiere Pro which in the bundle is still quite a bit a month but is a lot cheaper than it could have been! Need to edit more to get my money's worth!! Thanks again for brightening my day man :D

@@mabethicabauer I seem to have underestimated the skills of imovie hahaha....I might check these out, just frustrating when it reduces the quality to fog levels honestly. I'm truly delighted I could brighten your day as it would seem you deserve all the credit :) (Heck I didn't even think you'd respond at first lol) but I can't say it was hard since I was genuinely impressed!! Gotta be honest very odd to have a conversation through a place where any one can view it, maybe I'm just not use to it as I don't comment much?? No clue, but just know I'm looking forward to future videos!! (No pressure though)

@@OverthinkIThink Yeah I've thankfully learned how to upgrade the quality so the video I'm uploading on Sunday (thanks to you inspiring me to get back to the video I was working on!) should be a bit better quality! Hope you'll enjoy it!

Why Branagh ended Orient Express that way, I don’t know. The murder he’s called for is apparently not the one we later see on the Nile.

Just shows that he knows nothing about Poirot or the story Agatha Christie wrote
